AvP3

Wow, when they said it was bare bones they weren't lying.
I think I'll stick with Gamespy.

Lol, it's functional at best but it works I suppose. I'm just glad I got a version I could play again (could never get my AvP1 or GE discs to work after going to XP) for the measly price of £3.00.

played the demo...it sucked...won't be buying

Stemot, let me say first off that I enjoyed the demo and I'm not an AVP hater. But the way you run around barking at every negative comment that comes into the thread like you're it's moderator definitely solidifies my profile of you as a hopeless fanboy of the game. Sometimes you just gotta let it slide, man. Easy.

The avatar was the other thing.

What? I asked a question. I'm not trying to convince him otherwise, just want to know what it was he didn't like. I'm getting people don't like it and I'm fine with that now, I'd just like people to explain why they don't like it rather than "it sucks".

If you want to think of me as a "fanboy" so be it, I'll make no secret of the fact I enjoy the demo.

Yeah, played the demo. Wasn't quite impressed. The whole melee stun thing is quite silly and out of place in this game.

Was that seriously a predator as the 360 Kid back there?

I dont like how the marine can stun. Its too overpowered...ala L4D. If an alien flies at you, I'd expect to be dead if I dont shoot it quick enough. Instead its like a rubbery-rebound shield. *boing!*, then just backpedal and shoot the crap out of it.

If an alien gets in close you should be dead, end of story.

Im sure theres a reason they put it in though, for balancing. Just cant see the reason so far.

Played the multiplayer demo. Got in a game with just 1 other guy, i played as marine and he as predator. It was actually kinda fun, he would sneak up on me and attack me from behind, but he wouldnt kill me. He would instead run off and disappear. Whoever he was, he did a damn good job of scaring the shit out of me.

What's funny is, if it actually were that way you'd see this exact argument in reverse. "Why can't the marine stun an alien? Aliens are already faster than both classes; if they get in close you're already dead, what the fuck. You're going to tell me a marine couldn't use the butt of his rifle to hit an alien in the face? So I just have to accept dying if an alien gets too close? Nice balance, Rebellion."

Your skull wasn't a worthy trophy.

On that note, that predator grab kill where it rips your skull and spine out is spectacular. Totally beats the alient face removal.

So, more reviews are coming in from people who've apparently seen the source material and played the last two AVP games, and they're hovering in the 80% range. (One Russian mag even gave it a 95%)

The marine can stun because...

I must suck at stunning because if there's an alien all up in my grill and I smack it, it still gets another hit in in like half a second.

Blah, I got absolutely had, it's difficult to squish marines faces off when it's raining aliens

That sounds awesome.

I'm planning on renting this and giving it another go as soon as it hits. Aliens vs Marines mode could be fun and it couldn't hurt to give the mp another shot.

Wait until you meet a good marine that blocks your light attack, then bashes you ON THE FLOOR.

That's right. Your face eats the floor if you try to light attack spam a good marine from the front. And then your ass eats the bullets.

****ing sweet the first time you do it. Then some douchebag trophy kills you from halfway across the map because you were busy checking to see if he was actually dead from that.

now they need to release avp2 if they want to get some money

Guess what? No dedicated servers after all.
Rebellion are busy preparing the dedicated server for the Aliens vs. Predator community.

The files will be available to download from the “Tools” tab in the Steam client and will be a free download.
Herp.

Also, I like how the reviews talk about "clunky" melee controls and how hard it is to play the alien. Get better, please.

I was going to rent this today but it's still snowing like crazy and my college classes got canceled.

The negative reviews continue to pour in.

yes, I consider anything 7 or above positive. That's all the reviews to date, hardly negativity pouring in is it? Oh, and as Darkside said, dedi's are coming so they hardly decieved anyone. Your such a drama queen.

7 is positive. 70 percent is a good score, man. It says, "There might be some flaws but they don't impact the game enough that you won't find enjoyment with it."

Someone tell me the alien singleplayer is more fun than described by that first review.

Considering most games are rated from 7 to 10 then no 7 is terrible.

Nowadays every game is either a 10 which means the developers have money and can bribe, or a 7 which means it was a good game but all they got was a free copy and maybe a lanyard.

Or, a 9, and is for children.

Don't forget 8, which means it's an expansion pack.

It would also seem that the number one complaint is the controls which leads me to believe that the people playing have never played an AVP game before or seen the movies.

In which case they probably shouldn't be playing.

How very stupid.

I'm currently blowing through the Single Player portion of the game and have finished the Pred campaign and am currently playing the Marine. All I can say is it has more than lived up to my expectations. I would have liked a normal jump for the Predator to go with his focus leap, as it gets a bit silly sometimes when you have to focus leap to jump a box. Other than that I have the game I wanted. Good job Rebellion.
