Thanks buddy. Hopefully next time they won't write the encoding scheme on the same place as they write the encoded text. As long as they don't just md5(), then we're boned :(

Oh, and it's n30n, thats a zero (0), not the letter o (o).

how the shit did they make gordon into ascii? is there some sort of program that does it??

unless greg sat there painstakingly copying the concept art lol

maybe the 2nd part of the puzzle is bird + gordon = gordon's bird. gordon's bird = alyx :rolling:

I live on the other side of the earth, buddy. Australia.

And yes, I would still come running if they offered me a job there :)

There are heaps of programs that do this.

Google for "bmp 2 ascii" or something like that and you'll find heaps.

No need to be rude.... :x

Well, there's some code that renders any image into ASCII. A while back, some folks released ASCII DOOM (the game), where you could play it on your terminal. The funny thing is, the game was very playable and you could make out the graphics just fine.

There are programs that convert jpg and bmp into ascii art. A lot of ascii porn (yes, it does exist) is created this way.

Also note that Greg didn't draw that bird himself, my previous post gives a link to the real creator.

"maybe the 2nd part of the puzzle is bird + gordon = gordon's bird. gordon's bird = alyx"

Nope...Freeman + Bird = Freebird = Valve has Lynyrd Skynyrd cranking at the office right now.

Heres a useless little find ive just made, by doing a google search for what is listed next to the "content=" it comes back with a single search result for some kind of Linux Dictionary.

typo heh :borg:

I just figured out that the gordon ascii art has code WITHIN THE CODE.

It says:

"In addition to Hepatitis C, my weakened immune system has given me Pneumonia"

Valve need to do trickier things, like Blizzard did for Starcraft Ghost. This rot13 was a give away.

Blizzard put a 24 hour count-down clock to E3 with a weird picture before the announcement of SC: Ghost. Every hour the picture would change a little bit, getting a little bit clearer (a ghost decloaking) and every 10 minutes (I think?) the countdown clock would start a script that would flash the text of the clock in white during different seconds. The second when it flashed white corrasponded to a letter in the alphabet (eg 05 would be E and 26 would be Z), and consecutive minutes spelt out words, which in turn spelt out phrases in sounds from Starcraft (Ghost Reporting and such).

That was much cooler.

Uh, that's digging a little too deep buddy (w.r.t. the Linux Dictionary) :) But the point to take away from this post, if you're listening, Valve, is that fans want more of these puzzles. If there is manpower not involved in finishing the game, of course.

This is my 26th post after signing up. All in this thread. I'm awesome.

(PS: VALVe, hire me!)

Only if they hire me first... I am still watching you while you sleep

I swear, if i had the only copy of half-life 2 in my left hand and the cure for Hepatitis C in my right hand. Also, I'm standing over a volcano. I would drop half-life 2 in the volcano, then I would stick my other hand down my pants and cure my Hepatitis C. However, I bet you guys would sure be pissed off about half-life 2 falling in a volcano.

Speaking of Starcraft: Ghost, that game looks like it's in trouble:

Admitting that the company was "very committed to StarCraft: Ghost as a major part of our lineup," Blizzard President Mike Morhaime went on to say that the delay would allow the company to "polish the game until it meets the high standards that our customers have come to expect from Blizzard products." The game was originally scheduled for a 2003 release, but it suffered a delay that pushed its release to 2004. Now the game will miss its 2004 release date as well.

In addition, Blizzard has confirmed that Nihilistic Software, the studio that had been working on the project since its inception, is no longer connected with the project.

Sorry for the OT
