This is very good news - I trust PCG UK a hell of a lot, they don't usually get anything wrong.

Aww comeon, let's not try to be REASONABLE with warezers, I mean, I'm sure they are aware of the fact that copying another persons work without their consent is never right.:upstare:

who cares about the morality behind the issue, people eat meat every single day and they dont seem to bothered with the ethical problems it brings about ...anyways no the real issue is that warz-erers are shooting themselves in the foot ..sooner or later developers are going to see it as too much of a losing battle and will simply move to an online service like steam or similiar thereby cutting off pirating or at least making it far more difficult

Did you just compare playing games to eating food? Good going!
Whereas eating food is actually a REQUIREMENT in order to survive, atleast a biological requirement, I'd say gaming isnt so much, so I'd say they're quite different issues, with or without morality involved..

It's Stern... he has to bring in political/world issues into a topic that's irrelevant to said political/world issues. And, good for the companies who adopt Valve's way of thinking with Steam. More companies need to do that.

and I waste my time because you fail to see the point ..way to go

forget it, went right over your head

I will rent it for 360 when it comes out,Im saving up for a super PC so I cant just spend $50 for a game that entertains me for 8 hours.

First, I meant torrenting as in, having the ability to play the game fully and then judge weather or not you want to buy it.

Second, pirating for consoles is much easier, never any driver issues, patch issues, draconian anti-pirating measures, just burn and pop it in the tray.

Don't kid yourself, PC gaming is dying because it's complicated and expensive.

They are though. They just dont give a shit.

And OOOOOOO a pre-release review huh?! IM SURE THEY JUDGED IT FAIRLY. Developers dont give out early review builds to anyone who wont ass kiss the game. Same thing happened with oblivion. All the pre-release reviews raved about it. Then after release it started receiving negative press, which is exactly what the publishers want, since everyone went out and bought it already based on the early reviews.

Same thing happens with shitty games. Reviewers withhold the reviews until two weeks after release.

yes like a glorified demo that you play to the very end yet for some odd reason pay full price for later ..sure it's a possibility but for every single game? come on

first of all yes it's easier to pirate but that doesnt mean more people pirate console games than pc games ..that's just not at all realistic ..how many people have mod chips installed? judging for the installed user base of xbox live not a heck of a lot ..you dont need anything to pirate pc games ..if you can hit the download but, mount the cd, hit the installer and then type in a cd-key from a cd-generator you can pirate a game ..it's really that easy

Don't kid yourself, PC gaming is dying because it's complicated and expensive.

and lost sales to pirating has nothing to do with it? why are game compaines like Funcom going Online only? or moving to consoles?

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/09/id-software-ceo-piracy-pushed-us-multiplatform/

it's not the single reason but it's one of the reasons why pc gaming is lagging

Goddamn it... I thought we got rid of Shasta.

D:

And for the record, if I ever do download a game and find it to be really good, I usually go out and buy it out of principal. I'm probably one of the few, though.

I'm sorry for missing your point CptStern, I do not deserve to be on the same forum as you because I'm obviously of a lower-rank on the foodchain of the internets.:(

besides the fact that our names both start with "S" I dont see the similiarity

so instead of attempting to understand the point presented you resort to snide remarks ....and then you wonder why I dont bother explaining. Meh, not my loss

Actually I was completely serious, and if you are willing to take the time to explain I would highly appreciate it, I never say No to a chance to improve myself.

I downloaded Company of Heroes, and then went out and bought it. I also downloaded Dark Messiah the day before release, and canceled my preorder because it wasnt worth it. Oh, and I just recently downloaded Rome: Total War because I left my CDs at my parents house.

Im a relatively decent pirate i guess. I cant think of many games that I downloaded and havent actually bought.

@Gargantou: Hes already started explaining it...

Wait wtf... this thread isnt about piracy. Stop getting me off topic!

yes I told ya this is gone score over 9.0

finally there is a title to buy, and not to pirate :)

I'm willing to bet you'll pirate it anyway, even if you buy it first. Just out of principal.

PC Gamer isn't very respectable in my most humble opinion (Oblivion), and the other was from an Xbox magazine that gave Halo 2 10 and Pariah an 8.9. See where I'm going with this?

ya they do tend to overrate things
still, it's probably a fantastic game

Can someone help me out with the system reqs for this game? According to Wiki i have everything( just barely), the only thing that worries me is my graphics card, i have a 9600proATI and it recommends

"DirectX 9.0c compliant card with 128MB RAM
(NVIDIA 6600/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550"

I don't know if mine is better or worse then whats stated above, will i be able to run this?

wait how did this thread become a debate about piracy? I thought shasta was banned?

your card only supports up to 9.0b. only whent he game comes out can you know or not, unless its like the many games that use sm3.0 only.

I wish they would've included some kind of multiplay, the augments / weapons / physics systems would be so cool to mess with online with a few pals.

Seriously cannot wait for the demo to be released onto Marketplace.

I'm sure this will be halfway awesome at the least. . .

. . .you have played the System Shock games right ppl?

and ya. . . . i usually wait for a few weeks on most games. read lots of reviews than poke around some forums to see what the fuss (or lack thereof) is all about first. . .

Bioshock looks pretty -- oh wait, am I even in the right thread?

STFU. Thanks.

Please **** off. There is never any excuse for taking a persons work without their permission, god I'm sick of you f*cking warez-kiddeys(And yes I call you kiddey because I think it's rather naive to feel that any game that gets below 9.0 deserves to be pirated).

you are so ****ing right. ... piracy is printed in my.....

Sir, please calm down.

any game with ground breaking technology is worth the money. SIMPLE AS THAT. B.S is one of them.

Yeah but just because a game doesn't have groundbreaking technology doesn't give you the ****ing right to ****ing copy it without the creators ****ing permission and without giving anything in exchange.

Without piracy I would have a garage full of useless games I would never play and a **** load of wasted money.

I download first and if I like it, then I buy it. I did it with CoD, CoD2, BF2, HL2, STALKER, ArmA and so on. This will be no different and I will continue doing so.

gg.

so developers/publishers/retailers should lose money just so that your garage is clean?

... /me shakes head over state of today's youth

look if you're going to pirate games at least dont attempt to justify it with some lame half assed excuse, own up to the fact that you're stealing somone else's work; take responsibility for your actions ffs

Exactly CptStern, by the way L3adCannon, I assume you haven't heard of such things as reviews, user reviews, multiple reviews and DEMOS, I rarely warez games, and when I do it's old games that I can't even find on eBay(i.e. Ultima 4 for example), when it comes to modern games, I always read a few reviews, both professional and by other users, then if there's a demo I play that, and then I make my final decision.
But then again, I'm sorta biased against pirates because I know a few people whom are commercial game devs and work very hard to make good products..
