Borderlands

The problem is that mic support in this game is absolute ass. It's always on, it's always at max volume, it transmits EVERYTHING, and there's no way to disable it or even turn it down. Gearbox is lucky that this game is so much fun, because it's as close to a straight port as you can get without requiring a 360 controller.

No one talks in this game when I join. its like people don't have mics or maybe 1am is just too late to talk with people. i should play this game right away when i get out of work

They probably disabled it through one of the .ini files since it is always on.
Gearbox promised to patch it. Soon, hopefully.

my brick at lvl 25 is quite enjoyable

no luck on good guns though

The mic function is shotty, at best, anyway. When I first got the game, My mic wasn't working. It took normal play/restets/unplugging and plugging mic back in to work. My roomies works, but only if he's "too loud" for it to turn on for him. Must have been a threshold somewhere....

*EDIT* Having problems connecting to people online? Apparently *not tested by me*, but Gameranger has the ability tohost the games for you and resolve the issue. There have been a few people reporting the "Auto Login To gamespy" checkbox prevents it from working, so don't check it/go to the .ini and disable that and give it a shot.

The Siren's dynamism works for me.
I've briefly tried Brick and Hunter. Beating the crap out of people was quite fun as brick, but I felt no satisfaction with the Hunter's Bloodwing.

Comparatively, you have a lot more choice and variety in upgrading The Siren, whereas Brick and The Hunter felt very static, especially after looking at their skill trees.

I have yet to try the Soldier.

Dear TheHut.com

On regards of not delivering my order of Borderlands on reasonable time: **** You.

Yours truly, Bakurei

The Hunter felt very static, especially after looking at their skill trees.

He is pretty static but very powerful. I went pure sniper tree and I do a ton of damage with my sniper rifle. I'm on playthrough #2 and I still one-shot most of my enemies when I crit. I wish there were more skills that were worth getting though. The Bloodwing is very boring.

Eh, I never enjoy one hit kills, especially from afar, I also don't enjoy maximized health.

In my personal opinion, both of these things make battles and gunfights rather boring. I've actually avoided putting any XP into my shield regeneration or crit damage. I think the most exciting fights are ones where you have to find cover as your shield is recharging and as you fire back and forth between strong enemies that can take more damage.
-Also partly why I love revolvers, especially in this game, smaller ammo capacity and longer reloading times=challenge and practice.

I'm all for a challenge, but I rarely go out of my way to make the game harder for myself unless there's a good reason. I could get some of those satisfying fights by using a weapon that has nothing to do with my class or skills, but then what's the point of the classes?

I hear you about the shield regen stuff. I don't like getting defensive skills in any game. I like going all out offense even if my defense suffers because of it.

Guns guns guns

Although there are a lot of fun weapons, I still think they could have gone farther. Where's my sonic weapon that can make guy's heads explode when you point it at their face?

They're probably saving that one for the zombie DLC.

I agree though. I was hoping for a lot more fantastical weapon effects like with T.K.'s Wave.

yeah, it seems like they could have added more of those pretty easily. I've found a few iridium (or whatever the alien stuff is called) that have cool firing types. One is a large energy ball that moves kinda slowly but then explodes and does a lot of damage when it hits. Another was a shotgun like one that shot out energy particles.

Just hit lvl 44 and just got to the dahl headlands on my second play through. Skagzilla was a hell of a lot easier this time. The first time I basically used every bullet from every gun I had to take it down. <3 my revolver.

Also, does anyone know how high the weapon proficiencies go? My pistols is up to 30 so far, I was thinking it might be 50 like the level cap.

This game is wicked, but the colour coded loot thing is still a big problem for me, being colourblind (I know the game does sort them according to rarity, but it still means you cant just glance at the colour of the light around the weapon and determine whether it is worth picking up or not).

Yeah, proficiencies go to 50.

@ Wanted

I don't pay attention to rarities, just because an orange item can be worse than a green...just how random they are. I check out the stats of every weapon I come across.

Finally got to play it properly sorta. Online sucks ass. Can't join the people I want, just some random games. Yes, I forwarded my ports. I did get to play with Digi, Pitz and a Dutch buddy though through Tunngle, a Hamachi like program. It is better than nothing I guess, but GBX royally cocked up with this. Bah.

It was some massive fun, although laggy as a freaking negro.

The online is very fun IMO.

Catch: when it works.

Edit:

My favorite gun is my shotgun that does 92 damage a bullet, firing 12 a shell.

Hit level 50, beast mode. Once I'm done with the quests I'll probably go play online and get ****ed by the irreversible char haxors.

heh, I'm almost there gunner. We should have a lvl 50 duel for shits 'n giggles once I get there.

Anyone play beyond with a Lvl 50 character? Is it boring?

was the Siren only broken on the consoles?
I'm afraid of starting a new game with her if she b0rked.

Something went wrong with a couple of your friends requests, ZT's iirc. Could you send it again, please?

I finished Skagzilla off with Sledge's Shotgun and he smashed against the wall. ****ing awesome.

Alright I gotta take a break from this game, spent all week playing practically nonstop. Finished playthrough 2 and here's what the char looks like:

Sounds good, I wanna try the different arenas too :D

ok I added the Id's from this thread I go by Toolhead1987

This game is worse than crack. If fps from now on used this as a template i'd be a happy camper.

I don't know what's so great about this game (only seen it played once, earlier today). What do you all like about it? (PC version preferably if there's a big difference)

For me, you just get hooked into this endless cycle of finding better and better guns, always playing a little longer just in case you come across "that gun" which is hugely satisfying when you do eventually find something that great.

It also helps that it features a very unique and attractive art style, some phenominal sound effects, and very entertaining boss fights.

its also the lack of any other good games out right now and the endless wait for MW2

I just got the quest to go after Skagzilla, but I got a little sidetracked due to the bandits coming after me in their Dune Buggies-O-Death. So after an epic battle behind the wheel, I am once again on my way going after Godzilla's little pet. I sold Sledge's Shotgun. Even though it did mucho damage, it had a limited clip. I found a basic White shotty that does 39x11 damage that has been serving me better than Sledge's did.

I took a chance & installed it onto my daughters PC today. We have so far only logged about 5hrs playing, but she seems to really like it. She is now Level 11 & is of course playing as Lilith. This game is even more of a blast playing Co-Op... :sniper:

The game is ****in' awesome. Brick's berserk power is a beast.

I accidently joined my friend's game while he was playing the final boss battle. The boss was really weird. I didn't get to see the final cutscene though, but I hear that it's not very good.

What system is that? I'm wondering if this game can play below a geforce 8 series...

I have a Radeon x1900XT 512MB and I run this on max everything, but with dynamic shadows off. It's a smooth game.

So, I bought it, buying into all this hype.

I just don't see what everyone likes about it. I played for about three hours, and then just stopped. I can't bring myself to play it anymore. I gave it to a friend earlier(bought the 360 version because someone wanted to play with me) so he's probably going to like it. Guess it's just not for me, like Diablo and every MMO out there.

Before someone says 'You probably didn't play it with friends!' I did. It was even worse. It was just a shitstorm of bullets and bored me to hell. I rather my RPG's single player in the first place anyway.

Got to lvl 25 and its even more addicting but one big problem is i can't hand in quests in this one area. its the Arid Badlands and i have 2 quests to hand it. its like the easiest quests too and both say hand them in here, and it keeps pointing to the damn character edit pole and i want to rip my hair out because i waste so much time on quests and it wont let me hand them in properly. if this game wasn't glitchy as hell and actually playtested more i'd be a much happier camper

You have to turn them in at the bounty board, it's right next to the character edit station.
