me and my friend are able to lan using the same copy.....only one of us can go online though....
CoH is a great game....I'm still enjoying immensly.

yeah, you can lan with one copy, but we go online together, and i got two of the copies free and legitimately

have you guys heard of Hamachi?
it allows you to create and join a fake "LAN" so you can play with friends that dont have a unique cd key
but id still suggest buying the game, cause its worth every penny :)

Damn, this game's certainly complex for such a simple premise.
Can't wait to get the full version.

There's a few ways around it, but first you need to learn the basics of Corsix's mod maker app. You can get it here. Message me once you get it.

First one was, second wasn't. Again, I'd have to literally be against someone who had never played before to be able to build so many. It took forever.

I will admit its very good, until Supreme Commander comes out, not many people think much of it at the moment. But the play style is so unique for a strategy once you actually realise how to play it properly. Its everything small that makes the game into something so complex. I really see a large compeitive enviroment for the game later on.

Wow I've been messing around with this Corsix editor, it's awesome.

Being able to cap every point on the map without even moving in a matter of 5 seconds is quite fun.

I also enjoy creating a perimeter of MG nests and tank traps both which have infinite health, and observe the enemy build their forces and attempt to escape.

Sorry folks for the late reply, I was with relatives over Thanksgiving.

Like you all said, everything can be destroyed if you pound it with artillery enough. The time-honored defense against is this "Oh shit, artillery! Run away!". I'm just saying for a temporary defensive point, such as (for example) holding the building near the middle Victory Point of Lorraine. I think I might stay with Grenadiers + Sniper + PAK 38

Alrighty, I just installed the game after receiving it for Christmas... along with a Geforce 7600 BFG with 2gb of ram.

Downloading the patch, anyone up for a game sometime tommorow?
Just to f*ck around, nothing serious or anything.

CnC > CoH. :p
STFU, you like baseball. And you're obviously not right in the head if you think Command and Conquer can even dream to brush against the glory of COH.
Done.

Starcraft > Warcraft > CoH > CnC

Starcraft > CoH > Warcraft > Feces > CnC

By the way, I'm up for a game or three of COH in the next few days - I've been so damn busy with Christmas and school that I haven't played in a month or so, and I'm absolutely aching to do so.

STFU, you like baseball.

What does that have to do with anything?

I like CnC & thats just my humble opinion. Now where is Evo? *Searches*
To be quite honest, I never even heard of CoH until this forum mentioned it. Never saw in EB games, never saw it at gamestop. Not as popular as CnC. KANE LIVES!!!!

P.S: CoH isn't the Best game ever, why that is a big title there? Don't you think? ;)

Sure, I'm just trying out every game I couldn't play/play decently before atm.

The baseball thing was a joke, and the only way you could not have heard of COH was if you're blind as a bat - I've seen it in circulars, ads, and just about every game store i've been in that sells pc games. Popularity of a game isn't an issue, anyway - halo's extremely popular and yet it's easily described as both generic and mediocre.

I have no idea what you're on about with the 'what that is a big title there', but COH is definitely one of the best games ever, and has gotten a couple of GOTY awards so far.

This is by far the best WW2 game I have ever had the pleasure of playing.

It's so... immersive, for an RTS.
I'm quite surprised, and it looks absolutely stunning.

I'll definitely be playing this one for awhile.

One of the main problems I find myself facing recently, playing as allies, is how many M1 Anti-Tank guns to field when Axis start producing Tanks (Stugs in particular). While they're excellent in getting rid of Stugs IV's and Panzers, they cost about 310mp, yet by getting too many, your ability to produce M10's is drastically reduced, effectively leaving you a anti-tank defence easily taken out by firestorms, cloaked Stormtroopers and Snipers. Heck, even Volks can take out an M1 by using the Assault ability liberally.

Bah, I think I'll just go back to playing as Germans ... the lack of (apparent) decent anti-tank firepower on the allied side is off-putting. (I know there has to be some secret to anti-tank defense on the allied side, but I'll be blown if I know it yet) ;)

the secret to allied AT defense is just micro micro micro

as far as i know, the allied AT is superior to the axis AT, even without the armor piercing shells
the key is keeping them well placed and covered

They need to increase the manpower regen and creation speed. This is a war. There should be more infantry.

Micro exactly what, though ? Veteran Panzer IV's and Stugs can pin other infantry, and whilst following Stormtroopers or even Volks with the Assault ability can take out M1's in little to no time at all. Shermans fall to Axis tanks quickly, and M10's can be taken care of by Pak38's, Volks with the the Panzerfaust or Grenadiers with the twin Panzerschrecks.

Riflemen are the only problem though, as they frequently stall my tanks using stick bombs, but that's the only unit which frequently causes problems ... until the MG42's turn up, that is ... :)

If your opponent is getting that many tanks out on the field, it's your problem of not holding the fuel points against him. The allied AT is so freakishly overpowered in this game it's not even funny how well it works. Try playing as Axis against a good airborne player, then all you'll want is the AT nerfed.

The thing is that a large amount of Axis players (me included) go after the fuel points immediately and tend to defend them as strongly as possible (and OP'ing them as soon as possible), up to and including bunkers covering them with Pak38 Support (Even 88's are feasible if placed correctly). Also, if you take the "Defense" Tree (RHS), registered artillery reduces the chance of getting the point drastically, unless a multi-pronged attack takes the OP out.

The AT is overpowered, but can be, as stated earlier by me, taken out by Stormtroopers using Bundled Grenades or Assault relatively easily, or even by a lone Sniper. Personally, I don't know the counters while using the other doctrines for Axis, as I mostly use Blitz for the timely reinforcements and the Assault ability, most of the time, and as Stormtroopers come with the Stuh or Tiger Reinforcements, they just tag along behind the tank whilst it moves foward, and take out AT's before the tank can get within range.

Simple tactic, but it serves me relatively well in most of my games.

In games with more experienced COH players it's always a huge battle over the fuel points, because the allies can't afford to let axis take them

Played a game just now, for the first time in weeks. Luckily I got a semi-n00b that had a barbed wire fetish. We played Angoville and the game was pretty balanced until the armour rolled in. He made two mistakes: he built two Puma's in stead of a Stug and gave 'em the gun upgrade. The upgrade makes the Puma less lethal against infantry and not nearly effective enough against my quick Wolverine. Both Puma's got killed. A little later a Stug and another Puma rolled in but that was nothing my Sherman couldn't handle. He offered only token resistance after that and I won the game.

Oh and by the way: stat wipe in three weeks. That's old news but I didn't catch it yet. I guess I have to start playing again.
