Gothic 3:
http://www.gothic3.com/

Hardly anyone in North America has ever heard of Gothic 1 or 2 but they really are amazing RPG's. IMO both were more fun than Morrowind.

Also watch the pre-e3 trailer. Its really just a techdemo as it doesn't show any game play but it shows off the really cool graphics rather well.

Here are the only screenshots released so far:

I thought bigfoot was an endangered species ...should that guy be hunting them?

ooops wrong forum :)

wow that does look awesome ...more realistic than the "idealic" looking Elder scrolls ...but didnt Jowood make Soldner? that game was horrible. I'm willing to give them another chance as this does indeed look good

why are there dionsaurs? looks alright, though i prefer Oblivion's art style better, and this grass looks crappy compared to Oblivion's, but the characters look nice, the forest seems a bit sparse, but overall the environment works well - overall looks ok, but still doesn;t beat Obvlivion to me

I think it looks nice, but is does anyone else get depressed when they see all these nice looking games? I have a decent card, but I just know that it is going to have a hemmorrage trying to play them. I get the feeling that I won't be able to play them with graphics like that till years after they have come out. ;(

Jowood is the publisher for this one. Pirhanna bytes is the developer for this game series.

It does look great, but I couldn't get into those marrowind type of games....I just got bored out of my skull trying to hit something and it dying after 5 misses and 7 hits :(

phew ...I'll keep an eye open for this one ...anyone know of a release timeframe?

wow i thought it was a real pic until i saw those 'creatures'

Loved the 2nd game, cant wait for this one.

well they said they would make the combat way more interactive and awesome in this one....so you should have no problem becoming an addict :D

The graphics look more detailed than oblivions, but the draw distance is almost non-existant. Where as oblivion the devs said you can see for miles (I think you can see it in the screen of an armored guy on his horse overlooking some land).
edit: here's an example

Personally, Gothic 3 sounds like a beefed up version of 2, while Oblivion sounds like everything in morrowind has been revamped (and bringing back and improving alot from daggerfall) and it sounds amazing, from the new thief like thief system (like the system in thief the game) to everything. I'm looking forward to Oblivion much more.

WOW!

The Witcher has been flying under my radar for a while it seems. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

You guys have obviously not seen The Witcher video...

While we're at it... here are a couple of shots of another next-gen game, Alan Wake, being made by the developers of Max Payne:

There's also a kick-ass teaser video on the site.

It's described as a "psychological action thriller" and the trailer has only two quotes... "some are born to light" followed by "others are born to endless night." Nothing else is mentioned on their site. It looks to be another great dark, story-driven game following in the footsteps of Max Payne. That's enough for me. :E

I dunno, but that kind of sounds cliche :)

That's part of what I liked about Max Payne. The game was mostly serious with its fair share of action and drama, but it still managed to poke fun at the stereotypical nothing-left-to-lose plot and film noir style.

I just watched the teaser and well.... it kinda sounded/looked like shit to me. Like a combination of Myst & Silent Hill.

The only description of the game is "psychological action thriller." From that, I can understand the connection with Silent Hill... but where did you get Myst from? The overall look of the environment (it reminded me more of one of the last GTA games)? The music in the trailer?

It didn't show anything about the gameplay. It didn't tell anything about the story. All it did was show a picture of the character with a flashlight followed by some displays of the graphics.

For those that haven't seen it, it only consisted of a few views of the environment (a town, a lighthouse, a scene similar to the second screenshot) and a glimpse at what appears to be day/night cycles (shown in a dock scene).
