Crysis beta is out!

lolwut @ above?

I'll pass on a beta form of this game. I suppose I'll try the demo for kicks, but unless it blows my mind I'm not paying for the full game.

Specs are in my sig. I get about 50FPS inside, and about 20 outside, often slowing to 5-10 during battle.

That's ridiculous. This is exactly why Crytek blows, they think everybody has four 8800GTX in SLI.

Wow, please tell me you're TRYING to run it on maximum details on everything (including a high resolution).

you dont need two 8800 gtx's...just give me the money

OK im sure this isnt Warex talk as the BEta is a free thing... but has anyone doanloaded the BETA from a torrent site? If so, does it work?

You need a key to install it. So unless you just want to be ready once you get a key, it won't be worth anything to you.

the demo crytek was running at GDC 07 was on DX9. It still looked pretty damn good. That's fine for me, since my graphic card can max DX9.

Heh, I'm just hoping to squeeze out low settings on a bad res. like 800x600 to mess around with the game for like 15 min or maybe play on the hardest difficulty for a while. Then I bet I'll be bored with the game.

I'm not sure what resolution my dual 7950 Go GTX can offer, but people say I will able to run crysis fine on DX9.

I hope this is true...

i think somebody should give me their key, so I can test this game on vista AND an 8800 card so I can tell you guys if you need to upgrade or not.

I think we shouldn't because you're foolish enough to run Vista :p

gtfo.
And I doubt that the game will run as horribley as Ty's system (I'm taking it he's running a very very high resolution + AA?).

Wait, what.

So I can have say, a Geforce 2 MX and be able to run Crysis on medium/low by just having the latest and greatest drivers and having Windows XP?

:|, I'm just a bit concerned that my system won't cut it.

AMD Athlon 2800+ XP 2.4ghz
2gbs of ram
7600GSOC BFG 512mb

Your processor might just scrape through, your Graphics card and memory should be okay, though you processor might bottleneck performance.

Yeah, the processor and my hd have been my bottlenecks for the past 4 or 5 years but I'm going to start upgrading everything within the next few months.

Recommendations for a decent processor that's in the $100 range?... I've already got a good cheap hd picked out.

Lets take into consideration that besides the awfully long view distance, crytek have implemented a lot of optimization into their graphics engine. Effectively, all polygons that you don't see directly are automatically given a portal makeover to reduce to amount of polygons rendered at any given time. This kind of occlusion is rarely seen in other games

its no fun playing a highly anticipated game like this on low graphics!!!

I assume this puts more strain on the processor to calculate what is cullable, but relieves the graphics engine.

Bit of a trade-off.

and which stupid knoob is playing it on low end card ???

Fcuking nab

i cant tell if that was supposed to be funny or an insult, and to whom it was insulting...so ill reply in all cases...

1)hahaha

2)**** you

3)haha, stupid noobs

I see your point, besides I shouldn't think it would be much of a strain on a highend single core processor. But again, I'm glad that I upgraded to a Quad core not long ago :D

meh, I won't go sleepless at nights if I can't get into the beta, I'd rather wait for September 25th when they'll release the SP demo.
