I recently read over at CSN and CSB that they are going to include a high pitched sound with the new flashes. I have this sound on my 1.6 right now, and it makes that "POP EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" noise...

And it will also burn in the image last seen on screen, into the backdrop. How long does this feeling last?

The round? The map time limit?

I hope it doesn't last the whole map...that'd get annoying...of course realisticly, thats probably what would happen in the army if you were flashed..

Is there a way you could shut your eyes in the game if you see a flash?

The Flashbang effect is much more powerful now. Not only are players "blinded by the white," as it were, they are deafened with a high-pitched squeal and their vision is further limited by a retina burn-in effect. I spoke to Jess Cliffe and he agreed that the new Flashbang is very powerful, so the effects will be tweaked to match the duration of the CS 1.6 Flashbang.

You forgot the last part ;)

it lasts about the same amount of time the flashbang in 1.6 does.

it will last the same amount of time as in cs 1.6 perhaps even shorter since the effect is more servere.

Ah...so its white, AND a image burned into the white? if thats how it is...thats gonna be an awesome effect...

You can see it in action in the korea/game-meca movies, its exactly the same function as the current flashbang but instead of just flashing white, u have the double vision burnt retina effect, to snazz it up a bit.

Sounds fun

it'll probably be like in raven shield (i think thats what i'm thinking of)

Uhhh, where can I find the game-meca flash thing...I googled game-meca, but I'm american, and don't speak korean...it looks like gibberish to me..

Sounds like the same as the flashbang in FarCry, and that looked great.

Yeah.. I immediately thought of FarCry when I heard this stuff.

I would still like to know where to find that movie. I can't read korean, so I don't know if I'm downloading the right thing at Game-Meca...

Its on CS nation, in there CS Source section under movies.

http://www.csnation.net/view.php/cssource/movies.csn

The first movie on the page has some decent footage of the flash, and the other 2 are good to, if u wanna use there FTP i think u need to register, but they have torrent links there.

I hate torrent. 2KBPS sucks...I know they say you have to "upload so much to get higher" but still...i don't have all freakin' day long to download something i could dl in less than 10 minutes going at 125KBPS

Thanks for links though. I'll try FTP...

Yeah, I saw it. Pretty cool looking. Can't wait to actually see it in beta 1 :D

Just like in R63 the flash will burn the image into the retina. Cliffe has said that it will be as long as the current flashbang blindness

I hope it doesn't make sound disappear for a high-pitched noise of some sort. Sure its REALISTIC, but would that make it fun? As of the way flash's work now is if you become blind you can still hear. This makes it so that you still have a fighting chance incase of a rush. However if the sound were to disappear, how would you defend yourself? By hoping the other team won't spot you?

Yeah.

lol, from my understanding, you can still hear, but its with a high pitched EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise and you hear more of that, but you can still hear around you.

isn't a flash supposed to leave the victim defensless for a few moments ??
:burp:

a flashbang affects only the internal EAR and the equlibrium of the victim...due to the high pitched sound u are temporarily deaf and blind with extreme nausea behaviour and desequlibrium.

Like I said, sure it may be realistic, but don't you think after playing the game for more then a hour it will get really aggravating knowing that you are pretty much a fish in a barrel when you get flashed?

so u have to avoid getting flashed - no big deal

has nothing to do with realistic or not - even in cs u want the victim defensless or wild spraying when flashed

ps: after getting shot through a 2m wall several times i will be aggrivated, not if a player has the skill to flash me

I figure it will work alot like it did in Far Cry, most objects with lighting on them will have the lighting burned into the screen while all dark objects are see through. I'd kinda like it to last but slowly dissappear through the whole round.
Pretty realistic but then again it IS CS we're talking about.

I think flashes should be buffed up a bit. Currently it's very easy to just turn around when you hear the nade bouncing around.

I like the way the flashbang looked in the game mecca videos... The after-image and the high pitch noise will definitely make the flashbang more realistic as well as making CS feel more immersive. If you've seen the flashbang in Ravenshield, then you know how cool the noise is....

I still wonder about the grenades in CSS though. They just changed the strength of the nade, but it's still not a 1 hit kill... I hope that the nade in CS:S is a one hit kill. Sure, it might be CS, but it's still stupid to see a guy stand right on top of a nade and still be alive after it explodes...

The effects looks cool. But please no stupid PEEEEEEEP sounds. I dont want to get a headache ://

They probably won't do that.
$300 for instant kill? No thanks.

The grenade damage in CS was a linear function of distance... so if you're twice as far away you get half the damage. A graph of the damage should look more like exponential decay (where Half-Life gets its name). If you double the distance the damage should be one fourth as high. If you triple the distance the damage should be one ninth as high. It could make the grenade deadly and possibly cut down on grenade spamming by requiring better aim to get decent grenade damage (since the damage drop-off is quite a bit sharper). That's not 100% true for grenades because of lots of other factors in the real world, but it's much closer than what CS uses.

I would prefer they used a formula that was at least a little more complex and realistic than y=mx+b (in CS, b=100 and m is -1 over the number of distance units that would cause a drop of one damage).

LMAO......

i think flashbang should be more realistic. in real life you cant just turn around and not be blinded by a flashbang. its ****in light how the hell do you dodge light by just turning around? when you turn your back to the sun is it ****in dark ....no it isnt so how come when people get flashed they turn their back to it and voila it has no effecton them not even a little. and the he grenades. thats so dumb that you throw a grenade and it goes off right next to a guy and theyre not dead. i say any direct hit with a grenade should kill you or at least take you to less than 7hp. but id rather it killed you. and after point blank range moving outward it does less damage.

Being able to turn your back on a flashbang to be semi blind is a skill in itself imho. It a nice feature in the gameplay and should remain untouched.

No, it doesn't go dark, but you can no longer see the sun. Unless the light reflects off every nearby surface (which would have to be mirrors or bright white to have any effect) then turning away is a valid tactic.

yeah - not to mention you can't turn around that fast in real life ;)

and the noise of the flash ? would it still happen to you if you turn around ?

I think so...

It's not real life...

I like the idea of a more realistic flashbang. I thinkthe turning away to avoid the blindness should be kept in, but the debilitating effects (noise and loss of balance) should still be present. IMHO anyway.
