Do you have any irrational fears?

I'm afraid of spiders, especially the really big ones that hide out above your door. Yeah, happened to me once.

I don't think you understand me. The cat was a bloody marahooch fan, too. It used to go and sit on the couch between them of its own volition...

Maybe it does what cats do... Oh I dunno, seek attention? Any responsible pet owner who does that stuff would make sure its not in the presence of their pet, so that it wouldn't affect them.

Drugging pets should be considered animal abuse.

So, no catnip, then?

Sheesh. It used to do the exact same thing whenever they lit up. It wasn't just attention seeking, dude. Cats tend to be more... pointed about that sort of thing.

Now, personally I'd be worried if they were somehow forcing it to snort coke through a teensy-tiny straw, but we're talking second-hand weed fumes here...

Dentists,

I know it is crazy but I have a heart stopping fear of the drill.I have endure it to the point of passing out but there must be an easier way to sort your teeth out.

Raziaar you and I have similar fears. I, too, have an overactive imagination that makes me think something could be "out there," waiting to scare me.

Except instead of things like scary clowns I have a most irrational fear of greys...y'know, the aliens. The thought of seeing an alien peering into my window scares me to no end. Why can't aliens just leave people alone? :(

Also, I don't like ghosts. Not as terrified of them, but they're scary just the same.

Oh, and when I'm washing my hair in the shower, and I've got my eyes closed so I don't get shampoo in them, I always rush to rinse so that I can open my eyes again, because I feel vulnerable and something might leap out and attack me. I always picture some weird kinda monster that's a cross between a viper and a demon cat (scarier in my head than it probably sounds writing about it).

Catnip doesn't have the effects that marijuana does. It's the oil in the catnip, the scent, that cats love.

Well, I don't fear clowns. Just one particular clown. Pennywise the clown.

And oh man. Yeah, I can't stand closing my eyes in the shower, and its rather uncomfortable even if they're open. Especially when using a shower curtain, I can imigine peering through the shower curtain and seeing the outlined dark figure of something standing there, like maybe that girl from The Ring.

...

You've never closely observed a cat on "The Nip", have you? Their eyes unfocus, some tend to drool, coordination goes down, and they have a tendency to roll around on their backs. Ours used to do it all the time, demolishing the catnip in the process.

The "scent" is microparticles (in this case of oil) being inhaled and going into the bloodstream. Same as any inhalant drug.

Heheh... NIP TRIP!

For me... I have an irrational fear of the dark and things that are out to get me, which stems from my childhood.

I'm not afraid of the dark so much, as I am of my highly overactive imigination that makes me think there's something monstrous lurking around in the darkness that wants to scare the hell out of me and who knows what else.

I know its silly, since i'm adult, but for some reason I have never grown out of that fear yet. Sometimes when I wake up in my house, and walk out to the kitchen in the relative darkness, I can see out of the corner of my eye the panoramic window into the backyard, and I envision an evil clown or something peering in at me, or things talking to me from the shadows or from such places as through the sink, or showerhead, etc. Most of these things I think started to happen after I watched The IT back when I was a wee kid.

I don't actually see or hear these things, but I imigine it as if I did, and it scares the crap out of me for some reason, and I always feel the hair on the back of my neck raising as if I were being watched or followed.

Crazy huh?

Not crazy, I have the exact same problem. Although...for me, it's not monsters. I worry about ghost, and demons haunting my house, or me. And having somebody break into my house. I'm really paranoid, I sleep with a butchers knife under my pillow most of the time.

I have a really active imagination, so I can imagine every little detal, of say a demon making his precense known. Or somebody breaking in and trying to kill me or whatever. And yes, it scares the hell out of me.

I also have an irrational fear of deep bodies of dark water, including swimming in lakes, or in the ocean. I fear that there's something beneath the waves that is going to get me.

I don't even swim at the beach anymore, I always worry about shark attacks. Same thing when I go to a lake, I can't stop thinking about alligators or crocodiles or whatever the hell else might be in there, waiting.

Still, that cat is inhaling smoke, which will likely damage its lungs.

Oh well, its bad enough talking to people who use pot as it is, but try to reason with them about their fascinations on getting their pets stoned too? lol. Too much.

Who ever said I used it? Or got my pets stoned?

And for your information, Spliff died somewhere around his mid to late twenties. In 1978, I think. Not sure.

Holy shit, when I was like 10 I used to have nightmares about that. Thinking about it still freaks me out. Tall buildings don't bother me though.

And as some other people have mentioned, closing my eyes in the shower. I hate it. I feel vulnerable, one of the reasons I sleep with the light in my room on...

Well, you find nothing wrong with it, because you defend it. And you strike me as one who does use pot. Alot of the people who post on these forums do use it.

Anyways, lets get back on topic. Irrational fears!

Yikes man, I wouldn't do that if I were you. You might move the knife around in your sleep(my pillow sometimes ends up across the room) and cut yourself and not know it until you wake up.

Octopuses, squids, and other molluscs. They freak the living shit out of me. I can't look at them. I can't be near them. It's difficult for me to enter sea water when I know that they exist in the ocean. I have nightmares about them.

I've sat in aquariums, in rooms with the things. I'd position myself at the end of the room, just watching the glass from afar, seeing how much of it I could take. My hands went all clammy, I was rigid, and my mouth was agape with horror. When an octopus finally began moving around and swimming upwards, its legs spread out all over the place, I ****ing cracked. I started loudly mumbling incoherent babblings and rocking back in forth. I ran out of the place, but that still didn't stop me from being the most paranoid I have ever been for the rest of the day. Any movement out of the corner of my eye freaked me out. I refused to be near walls, because I feared I'd turn around and be face to face with one. Later that day, people ordered kalimari. I went outside and vomited in the bushes and stayed outside, shivering out of discomfort and with my appetite lost.

That was just last year.

People used to chase me around with pictures of them. I hate those god damn things.

Ive got the exact same phobia as you do. Well i can look at squids\octopuses but if i was ever near one IRL i would run for my life! Sometimes when i bathe in my tub i imagine that a octopus might fall from the cieling down on me in the bath, so i have to jump out of the bath when that happens...(lol yes im weird :))
Im affraid of jellyfish too..i kinda got over them when i was in bulgaria but i still hate the big ones.. :flame:

the atatchment is a picture of me when i was little and saw a fish

How peculiar... most people think the exact opposite of me.

Well, dude... even if I was inclined to alter my mental state, I couldn't afford the stuff.

I don't do drugs, I don't even drink. And that seems to piss my pals off, strangely. Probably because they know I'll never shout them a round at the pub.

Haha, I know. I used to sleep walk ALL THE TIME. I would end up upstairs, on the stairs..at the bottom of the stairs...crazy shit.

One time my aunt caught me sleep walking out to our pool =/

That wouldn't have ended nicely

But I havn't done it in a year or so. Theres about 4 pillows between me and the knife...ones one of those tempur pedi pillows...weighs about 15 pounds. Hopefully that's enough between me and it. And to be honest, waking up with someone in my room and me without a weapon-even though I'm a brown belt Ken po-scares the shit out of me, and I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take.

i got a fear of stepping in dogshit, serious.lol
especially in dark lanes, cause i cant see the ground. :(

i wouldnt give a shit about the monsters hiding round the corner, just NOT stepping in dog crap :p

Also if you open the windows or a windy day, the wind makes this howling sound :D

Actually, you know what? I'm really getting sick of you doing this in every damn thread. Cool down a bit, man. Shit...

Anyway, I have a really irrational fear that I don't wanna go into, it's one that basically stops me getting out of the house and... well, doing anything. I'm working on it, though.

Other than that... the dark, occasionally. Started to get worse right around the time I saw Ring :O

Insects, mostly spiders. If I see one that I know is harmless then I'll have no qualms with picking it up (usually by it's web so I can kinda dangle it, gently mind you), except for Daddy Long Legs cause I can't stand the way they walk. They don't usually bother me though since they're usually just chilling up in a corner. The two places I fear them most, though, are in my bed (I used to be afraid one would crawl into my mouth while I was still awake since I heard they did that in your sleep, so I sealed my mouth shut and tried to get to sleep as quickly as possible), and on the toilet (probably my most rediculous fear... I was afraid that one'd crawl into my ass  ).

I also have a huge fear of my computer crashing. Ever since that 2 month+ fiasco with trying to get my graphics card to work, I don't know how many times I cried like a baby over a blue screen.

Man I haven't posted here in a while, anyway...

Ditto on the shampoo/closed eyes thing. I feel ridiculous about it considering I'm 19 years old. What freaked me out when I was younger was Jurassic Park. I would close my eyes in the shower and imagine a raptor coming to get me.

I am also weirded out by spiders, not to the point of advanced arachnophobia though. I don't have a problem with most bugs, but if I'm trying to squash one on the ground and it starts running around all over the place it creeps me out a little.

I also don't really like heights. If I'm in a tall building or a glass elevator I won't approach the glass too closely because I have this fear the glass will break and I'll fall to my death. Getting close to the edge of anything if I'm more than 6 feet off the ground makes me feel uncomfortable.

I can't look a sparrow in the eyes, not after the accident........

oddly enough: plant roots. They dont scare me so much as creep me out, and send shivers up my spine, etc. All stems (haha stems, saw that after i typed this) from a disturbing dream I had as a child of plants growing on me and the roots burrowing in.

just to clarify, its only when theyre in something other than dirt. like a tennis ball i found...

May I suggest a solution to people who are afraid of blood, darkness, ghosts and being alone.....go play silent 1,2,3 or 4. Problem solved. You'll be so freaked that your fear will gradually go away.

I have a fear of the darkness and what ever "I think" is in the dark. I went to rent a video game and I picked up silent hill. I played it and I shut it of because I couldn't handle it..it freaked me out so bad. A couple hours later I faced my fear and I passed the game. I had a really good feeling after that.

One of the worst fears I can think of is public speaking...most people have that fear..but mine is especially bad..cause I have some trouble speaking.

I hate being scared of nothing..

Well, regarding the harvestman, its still yet unclear if its that poisonous are not. Some say that they indeed are not that poisonous at all, except maybe mildly, and others that proclaim that it does in fact contain the most potent venom on earth.

When I lived in alaska, we had no spiders, but loads of harvestmen(daddy long legs), and I entertained the belief that they are the most poisonous things in the world but can't really bite to release it, however nowadays, I don't believe that anymore after doing some more research on them.
