Does doom 3 scare you as much as you wish it would?

Leak scared the pants off of me. So the actual product should pretty much kill me.

I'm 11/20 through it (I think) and although I'm entirly calm throughout most of the action, the sounds of the game scare me at the psychological level. Some of teh sounds just freeze me and I just stand in one place looking around frantically switching from flashlight to shotgun as fast as I can (especially the moaning/groaning ghost women, brrrrr).

Sometimes it gets me a bit jumpy, other times it's an adrenaline rush!

That's why I wont play it, it scares me, I play a game to have fun.

Being scared is fun.

WHAT MAN! Getting scared is fun and who wouldn't play a game that scares them?

for those of you that have played it
lemme say this...
remember the mirror?

I tell you a game I was shit scared of? AVP2, now that game made me jumpy and on edge ALL the time, Doom3 is no AVP2 in terms of scariness, but it's made my jump in my seat sometimes, sorta.

I'd actually go to the first AvP. I bought it solely for the Aliens and Predator references - and it was a nice surprise to be...not really scared but anxious about running down a hallway filled with aliens.

I've never been scared by a movie...or game. Man, that'd be awesome. There's immersion right there for you. Too bad Doom 3 would never run on my über Radeon 9200 and 256mb of ram.

[the part in the Ring where the horse falls off the ship: funniest [bleep] ever (no, it's not a real horse, it's too blatantly obvious, why would you ask that?).]

AVP was mad scary, but this is scary too.. SCARIER!

Can't say this game "scares" me.. I haven't felt afraid, or anything. I've jumped about 5 times, and I've been playing about 4+ hours now. Just got to the upside down spiderhead enemies.. I was too obsessed with getting screenshots of them, so I ended up dying

im half way through the game and its not scary at all.

Yeah. Sure. :hmph:

EDIT: Could you be more obvious that you haven't played DIII?

i played at least for an hour..and it scares me already..even with the lights and the tv on!..

Yes! I'm shaking in my boots!

I bet that a percent of the people who voted in this thread never played the game and that another percent are lieing about not being scared :/

AVP2, SS2 and Undying are scarier games then Doom 3, so far anyway. But i'm sure once i get to Hell things will REALLY freak me out

Or maybe the fact that they really DIDN'T feel afraid. :hmph:

Seriously, just because you found it scary doesn't mean everyone else HAS to find it scary too.

I chose the one at the top. DOORS that close behind (the ones I just went through even) scare me A LOT. I get psyched up very quickly in this game

It's not as scary as it could be (mostly because of the utterly amazing poor performance on my comp) but I still jump at the sight of a moving shadow. Which there are about 10+ of in every room :D

Not really - haven't even 'jumped' :/

SS2 was scarier by far.

ss2 ????????? what game is this.

You have just been found guilty of video gaming crime.

Talking about SS2, there was also work starting and planned on a System Shock 2 modification on the Doom 3 engine, which would look totally awesome under this engine, but it got the axe for legal reasons.

Yea I have no idea what ss2 is either, maybe I've heard of it and I've just never heard it in the short form.

Anyways, it's scary at times, like when the monsters first started coming and you had to get back to the surface, I was scared as hell. I ACTUALLY wanted to go back because it was so scary.

yea i know now its system shock 2....and ive never played it!

Anyone who doesn't think its scary are either lying to try look like some hard man (it ain't working we KNOW you were scared) or they are pissed they couldn't get it.

Its scary in some parts. By the way, the mirror - I was scarred after that incident! The game is awesome!

Rubbish. This isn't a freaky game - it's too fast and furious.

Doom 3 isn't the 'horror' FPS i was hoping for (which was - a fps meets Resident Evil, minus the puzzles) Instead we get Quake 2 with fancy gfx in a Doom setting (with rather uninspired and average fighting)

It looks pretty, though.

Damn scary, and each new monster seems to be just that little bit scarier than the last (Which is good, because by the time I get to each new monster I'm just about over my fear of the last lot, and getting more into the kind of mood where I just want to whoop their demonic asses...).

LOL maybe some people just know the difference between real and game. Demons aren't coming out of my computer from the game to get me, so not scary. Fun? YES! Scary? only if your a coward. Well maybe thats not nice, but I just can'T get scared so easily by a game or movie. If something jumps out at me , sure i jump. But is that fear or surprise? Suppose it depends on how you define fear. Silent Hill series. now that is scary. in a deep rooted creepy way .

only played it at night in a pitch black room. scared shitless.

Its not the visuals that would scare me more, its sounds.
