I can resist because its only like 2-3 more days of wait but I don't think it's that big of a deal if you are gonna buy the game anyway, you're just stealing bandwith from the real pirates.

you are wrong m8. Its p2p application and the original uploader got at least oc12 connection :) or minimum of 8mbit upload. WOW
 
I'm not surprised that Doom3 is out there, and I'm certainly not surprised that it's getting all this attention from pirates. I'm just a bit saddened by it, since the whole thing probably could have been avoided if certain retailers hadn't decided to break their agreements with id for an August 3rd release. I know some people downloading it will buy it within a weeks time anyways, but the vast majority most likely won't.
 
This is a good argument for Steam basically. The only reason I would consider downloading it it is that I have to wait 12 days to buy it. If Doom 3 was on Steam, then I could just order it from there on the same day it comes out in the US.

EDIT: Replying to qckbeam. If I downloaded it now, I wouldn't trust myself to buy it. I mean, I'd probably have finished it by the time it comes out in the UK.

exactly, people may download with the intention of buying later... finish the game and then rationalize that the MP must not be worth the cash to buy.

me I already pre-ordered so I can wait a day or two :D
 
The only sollace I find in all of this is that these people at least won't be playing multiplayer.

How do you people know how many people have downloaded it? I got bittorrent thinking it was like kazza lite, but was surpised to see you have to visit these special sites that use it, which i couldnt find, so i just deleted it.

we use, abc, azurues clients which allow you to see how many people are connected to the file.
 
and Torrents suck, you can get it from much better resources.
hopefuly Gamespot has the game in tomorrow.

The part many people don't like comes down to choice. In other games you can choose to play with only 4 people, or you can choose to paly with more.


I realsie that it can be "easily" modded into the game, but only if you know how to and can be bothered. Downloading the mod after the game has come out is extra hastle that a lot of people don't like bothering with.
 
The Edge remake alone is worth of the $50. Wohoo, I'm gonna go get owned on Quake 2.

the torrent i found is ****ing crazy! 180 seeds/17000+ leechers... and there is more than just that torrent... nto downloading cause warez = bad... although i don't get it in 3 days :(... but i already paid for it in full, i'm buying it! just EB is ghey... they said they'll get my copy in on Aug. 11th... do you think it's justified downloading it?

i don't think any of us can make that choice for you, i'm downloading the doom3 leak for i don't not have sufficient funds to buy another game outside half-life2 after the purchase of my graphics card, i will no doubt buy the game in about 5 months or so as when i expect the price to be lowered, i know nothing really justifies me downloading an illegal version of it, but i don't want to be left out of the discussions of doom3 come next week.....

I'm not resisting because I want to see if:

1. It runs well.
2. I actually like it.
 
I have no problems 'resisting'... it comes out in two-three days... and you know how annoying it would be to have it, play it, have to go looking for it to actually buy, uninstall it, install a real one, then pick up where you left off? :LOL:

So can people stop saying "I won't bother downloading it because I only have 3 days to wait". It makes me want to cry.
 
Actually there are things worrying me about D3, even now. The guy finally posted some "valueable" info that finally talks about something else other than graphics.

"the AI is okay...seems like a bad western sometimes though, with you and the enemies just standing in the middle of a corridor exchanging bullets, because you have zombies chasing you from behind, imps dropping on your head, and marines shooting you in the face....they sure dont seem to interested in getting cover most of the time

Hmm, intresting. The hands on from GS and IGN also mentioned about the plain A.I. and the excessive scripted scenes- which isn't a bad thing at all and definately sets the mood, but will still cut replay value. Anyway, I know this is just based on someone's opinion and playtest, so don't flame me for posting something slightly negative about Doom 3 - I'm just trying to look at it from other perspectives too, than my ususal id fanboy ways. Thanks. :)

It's kinda lame excuse to download a game because you have to wait a few more days. It's like, uh, buying candy from a store, and if they taste like shit you would be justified to get new ones - for free...Hahahaa, that was weak, I know. Anyways, the answer is no. And all you saying "yeah well I'll download the game now but buy it later blah blah blah" are liers! I bet only like 1/10 of you actually end up buying it.
 
Lans, it doesn't matter really. All We want after teh Single player is playing the MP with real human (real AI).
 
If i knew where to get it i probably wont be able to resist downloading it...this game has all my excitement totally...because its actually coming out.

You know, and i mean this honestly if i did DL this i would hardly play it because id feel cheap and a crook, if i could get a normal download speed id probably DL it but if warez shit gets shit slow speeds i would rather wait (ive never warez a game from the net...fair enough my ps1 was chipped but it didnt feel as dirty/sneaky with that)...ill be buying it anyway i HAVE to have DOOM3 on my messed up games shelve right at the front, its an essential.

We aren't talking about the MP. D3 is said to give you a great SP experience -which I'm sure it will, but games relying on scripted events and rather plain A.I. do get boring - unless they are highly innovative. HL stayed alive like that (with it's smart A.I and different approch to gameplay by getting rid of FPS cliches), and I hope D3 does too with it's depth and innovation in arousing fear. From the mag reviews, this does some quite evident - but then everyone has their own opinions.
 
Since there is only like 2 days left for me im just going to wait but for those who have like 10+ days and have paid for it then i understand why they would download it, i would have done the same. Its kind of screwed up cause my friend knows i paid for it and today hes like "I got doom iii" and was playing it on his camera in a chat room, i felt real bad :\ but ahh whatever ill get it soon enough and the real deal not some cracked warez version.
