Dr. Stanley Rosenburg?

I want to play Decay..Somehow I missed that one...
It was on PlayStation 2
However hope is at hand http://**************/?content=projects&id=decay
mmmm, not sure why the link is censored you can find it from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-Life:_Decay#External_links

I always what happened to the scientist in HL1 sitting by himself at the top of a silo or something and he wouldn't leave with you. I am sure he died but every now and then I think of the poor chap.
You mean Smithers? :)

You know, I was just thinking, it could be one of the female survivors, Cross or Green. There was a study for a female protagonist in a combat suit (I.A. Latham) in Raising the Bar...it could be that this idea was scrapped in place of bringing in another HEV-wearing scientist into HL2.

Could work.
I want Otis but it isn't likely...besides HL2 needs another female progtanist. It would prolly be Gina because people who hadn't played Decay would know who she is. Better yet, Rosenburg + Otis + Gina! :E

Hmm. Sounds cool. I thought it was supposed to be a successor to the female assassin.

Why? WHY GOD DAMN YOU?...........Erm, yes why?

Edit: DO I ****ING SCARE YOU?

There is just so many options of who it might be.

I somehow dont see a way of how Otis could have survived Black Mesa. He mainly is just presented on Opposing Force but you never see him actually trying to get out of the place before the nuke-device explodes. Interested to see an explonation of what might have happened to him though.

I've never played Half-Life: Decay so I cant say anything about Gina or Colette. But from what I read from the Wikipedia, their fates remain quite open.

It is also presumable it is one of the scientists who escaped Black Mesa with Barney.

Also it might be Adrian.

So I say its either Adrian, one of the scientists who escaped with Barney from BMRF or Colette and/or Gina. (or perhaps Otis, if Valve gives an explonation)

Its important to remember that there is more than one Otis, just as there is more than one Barney. So the Otis parked on top of the nuke probably didn't make it, but there are others around.

Forum member Esplin remarked that Otis probably got on top of a bullsquid and rode it out of Black Mesa into the desert to safety, before the nuke went off.

I believe this to be the absolute, undeniable truth of Otis the security guard's survival. He's still out there, somewhere...riding along.

Never stopping...

Wouldn't that be incredibly cheesy, given Shephards position in the first game?

Yes but then again gman could've just sold Shephard to Combine for some reason (knowledge of Earth's military ways, skilled warrior, stuff like that). After all gman seems to be just some sort of interdimensionary recruiting agent/pimp with his own agenda instead of some governmental policy behind him.

edit: Oh yes, gman is also a classic plot device which may end up hurting HL2's story if executed improperly.

the reason I think shephard would be interesting is because no one knows who the hell he is.
Not even the people playing the game in fact. We don't know what Shepherd looks like. We may have met him 50 times in the HL2 continuity. He may be Odessa Cubbage for all we know.

So why bother bringing him back just so an NPC can go "I don't know Gordon, but here's someone who does know! Adrian Shepherd, star of the brilliant Half-Life expansion set, Opposing Force and 29 forum flamewars on the Half-Life 2 dot net forums!"

If they must bring Shepherd back, they should make him a PC not an NPC. At least as a PC they'd be picking up on some kind of existing story, as opposed to entirely fabricating one for whatever purpose they need X character to fill in HL2 Episodes.

I'm sure if/when Shepherd is re-introduced into the Half-Life story it will be done with the typical valve expertise.

Well people seem to be objecting to Shepherd returning because he has no place in the HL2 story line and it would look silly. I'm just reminding people this if he was brought back valve would do it in a good way.

I think Otis should come back skinny and muscular and with dual pistols.

They took his donuts!
He will have his revenge!

Gman is trapped by the Vorts in Ep1 but obviously is out in Ep2. Maybe he decides to utilize Adrian for something? Maybe he uses him as a bargaining chip?

Otis. Is. Angry. And. Hungrey. And nothing will stand in his way!
And what is Adrian worth?

My eyes are on episode 4 for his return ;)

Or, he could be an important NPC like Mossman and Eli. One of the resistance's greatest commanders and you fight alongside him.

I'm sure Valve knows about the HL fanbase and the mass of shephard fans and shephard haters.

I would'nt care if Shephard returned..just not in the fashion that has been hyped all around the net.

If & only if he where to return, It would'nt be what every single damn shephard fan keep's wanting....the oh so lame 'G-man losses control of Gordon & must send the Shephard to hunt down Gordon, & they fight to the death, then later become allies & fight the combine'......First class BS cheesy story.

Thats what I don't, I would'nt care if shephard returned, just not in that peticular fashion.

Oh your so wise, arent you? :p

If they can bring him back for a real reason and do it well, I have no objection.

However, as it stands, I think that would be nigh on impossible to do. So any return for him would simply be Valve panering to the will of the comunity and a suspect story line.

Anyway, as you might determine from my sig, I think people take this topic far too seriously.

Otis will return, Desert Eagle in hand, riding his loyal bullsquid into battle, fighting for the defeat of the combine and the return of the Donut!

hmm, actually i think it'd be fairly badass if Otis did show up in the future halflife games with a pet bullsquid. Like he had it as an attack dog or something. Or maybe he had a pet snark that for some reason couldn't blow itself up.

I can see him, riding the bullsquid:
"Stupid Combine's, why dont they ever have donuts?"
Alongside him, Shepard, shouting the klingon warcry "Qapla!" while standing on the head of a charging antlion guardian, with a M-60 in one hand, and the teleporter gun in the other.
Last, but not least, we see Dr. Rosenberg with his science buddies ramming combine soldiers in their Black Mesa SUV....
A vista to frame and hang in your living room....
Any artist interested in this?

i might take up that offer at some future point in time, however i never played through blueshift so i have no clue what rosenburg looked like

Y halo thar Dr. Rosenburg!

Well, since The G-Dawg took shephard just like he did with Gordon -maybe- he might be going to be used just like how gordon was used by G-Dawg in HL2, so Shephard might be G-Dawgs -Agent- His elite guy who does what he wants. and/or Shephard is in a interdimnensional Las Vegas where he will play poker every day and eventually forget EVERYTHING about black mesa. Yeah. G-DAWG!!!!

And Gordon Frohman. And Norman Frohman bought back from the dead!

I can just see it now, Gordon gets KO'd for whatever reason and you hear the sound of a scuffle, and then you awake with Gina looking over you saying "Dr Freeman I presume... Its been a longtime..."
