Holy Flurging Shnit, you're right... just watched a coupla old duke 3d vids. Jebus, expectations sure change over the years. I remember him sounding a lot cooler back in the day

It was a cigar. I don't smoke and even I know that you're not supposed to inhale cigar smoke. :p

Duke's voice does need a bad ass makeover though.

Lol, I only knew it` was him because I still enjoy s bit of Manhattan Project now and again.

I really do think this game is going to be amazing though.

People complain about Crysis being nothing more than a tech demo, then attack this teaser for not having amazing visuals :LOL:

3DRealms did a good job of Prey, I`ve no doubt this will be awesome.
 
looks like they are going on a "more serious" style and not so funny as the first trailer
 
remember how cool that reloadin animation for the pistol was back then...it was amazing

Yes, tis true, but they know what makes a good game, and they also produced two of my all time greats, Max Payne 1&2 plus they know how much is riding on this now being half decent.
 
ITT we decide the overall enjoyment of playing a game far from release after seeing a 45 second teaser with no gameplay or story footage.

Yeah, seems like that. Hope it's not true though. The 2001 trailer was absolutely perfect, it really had the atmosphere that made Duke3D so awesome. This seems different from the 2001 trailer.
 
Why the **** does everybody keep mentioning Doom 3? Have you played a Duke Nukem game ever? 3D Realms may be incompetent, but I think they know it would kill them if DNF didn't continue in the same spirit as its predecessors. You can trust that it will be far more varied and outlandish than Doom 3 could have ever aspired to be.

You don't deep draw on a cigar (like you do with a cigarette) because the smoke gets too hot otherwise, but you do draw. :dozey:

They're not going to turn him into Serious Sam or Gordon Freeman or anyone else. He's clearly still Duke Nukem which means it's going to be a Duke Nukem game. Doom 3 and Prey have less than jack shit to do with it.

The engine, which now contains parts of an early version of Unreal Engine 2.0 (the team branched off from the engine in 2001) supports such features as pixel shading, normal mapping and high dynamic range based lighting.[16][17]

Broussard has stated several times that the only parts of the Unreal engine that are still part of their code base are UnrealScript, the networking code, and the UnrealEd. Everything else (except Meqon, the physics engine) has been written from scratch by 3D Realms. The principal technical reason given by Broussard for the extensive delays was the unstable tech base. Once it was stabilized, 3D Realms expanded their team considerably, from 22 to 31 members.
 
I really hope that this ends up being the best game ever made, and it turns out it was totally worth the wait.

Highly doubt that will happen but it would be awesome :D

Sorry to keep correcting you, but 3DRealms only produced the first Max Payne. Max Payne 2 was produced by Rockstar after Take-Two bought the IP.

I hope so too. I'm sure everyone hopes that this game won't suck. It's simply not an option...haha damn the guys at 3d Realms must be udner horrible pressure.

It's still a TEASER trailer. Expectations are one thing, but being thick on purpose is another.

Don't call me a tool you dolt! You were expecting too much out of a teaser even after the fact that Broussard stated it was put together for a Christmas party:

"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise," explained Broussard. "It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever. After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming."

We're lucky we even got to see some actual game footage.
 
Wow, the teaser was cool enough, though I really hope that the trailer is as good as the 2001 one was.
 
I thought the teaser was a bit poor ... Doesn't show much, but what it does show is doom3-esque with poorer models/textures/animations. Makes me wonder what 3Drealms have actually been doing for the past 10 years. Eating donuts and pissing about, probably.
 
well who knows, maybe the game is really good. after all there was only about 10 seconds of actual gameplay footage in that teaser, and graphics aren't everything
 
Indeed, it is important to make a distinction between developing and producing.:)
