Episode One price confirmed

hmm... $25 for Aftermath in Canadian dollars.
not bad...i remember paying more for Opposing Force but it did have more hours of gameplay than is expected of Aftermath.

Seriously that whole "take your time to see everything" arguement is so baseless. The game was so linear that if you ran it with your eyes closed you will still see everything...

Agree. But the Valve should calculate the gameplay time base on players who play in a relatively fast way, rather than those players in hit and drink coffee way.

Then don't buy it.....
Yeah, be smart and go to a friend that bought it and play for 2-3 hours and you're done. $20.....

You guys realise the non-standalone version might cost less, right?

I don't get it , if you finish games remarkably faster then what's the deal , what's the difference if it's 6-8 long game or 4-6 hours. You will still finish faster than the time that was assumed by the dev.

It doesn't seem enough for you? don't buy or wait for the reviews to see if the gameplay in it is worth it even if in the end it's short for you.

No one is forcing you to do anything.

I usually pay £40 for games. I'm paying just about £12/13 for Aftermath. Work it out.

It is worth it to half the complete story of half life once they are all done. Besides your money supports them and they will be happy to make even better games.

I honestly don't remember how long I took to play through HL2. I just really enjoyed the game.

I think I will really enjoy Aftermath, and will be happy to pay for the entertainment.

People are geting a bit worked up about things because there has never been an episodic release before, and are unsure of what to expect. People are critical/wary of the new and unfamiliar. I think everyone will get the worries out of their system before the release, thoroughly enjoy episode 1, and forget that episodic content and the pricing was ever an issue.

Everyone here saying you can run with your eyes closed and beat the game or how linear it was just proves to everyone that they really didnt understand how to play the game. There are so many people you can talk to you just keep clicking on them and listen to what they say. So many poster that give clues to story. So many things you can interact with. Not to mention the secrets. Hey it doesnt matter to me, YOUR the one missing out. As i said im not one of those people who keeps dieing or goes and does something else while the clock is ticking. No i just find 99% of the things in the game, i talk to everyone to piece together the story, i look for all the clues. I can beat HL2 in about 7-8 hours whats the point of playing then your just speed running it. Its no fun. Not to mention Valve has said so many times that they tell the Half-Life story with clues in the game rather then straght up. I hope some people read this and think twice about how they play games or how they judge them.

Average PC gamer goes out for a meal. Sees two restaurants side-by-side, a McBurgerThing filled with industrial effluent and a quaint little family-run establishment serving delectable morsels of exquisite, traditional home-made foods.

"OMG," they say, looking at the family-run restaurant. "THATS LIEK SO EXPENSV!"

They think for a moment, weighing up the different possibilities by mass of foods provided. A McBurgerThing Pig Mac Bucket Family Meal costs n, and weighs m kilograms, whereas the menu on the wall of the other restaurant has all the dishes individually priced, and a wine list. A wine list, of all things!

So average PC gamer complains. Bitterly. "TEH MCBUGGARFING IS LIEK SO CHEAP! LOL! GET LOADS OF FOOD! DONT WNAT TO EAT TAHT EXPEMSIV CRP FROM OTHAR PLACE, ILL HAV EATEN T IN SECONDS! WTF???"

Even though one dish from the decent restaurant costs less than the bucket of effluent from the burger chain.

The moral of the story: you're all cheap bastards... ;-)

lol I enjoyed this

The price of revoltion is, according to Eurogamer.net, $19.99 (just under 12 pounds sterling for Brits, or near 17 euros for Euros). That's how much "4-6 hours" of gameplay with HL2DM, HL1DM Source and HL2 itself not required (it's not clear whether the cost will differ for HL2 owners). The name change is just that - a name change, and there is no shift in content, despite the fears of cynics. Good news: "Episode 1's complexion and density is markedly richer than Half-Life 2." And of course, it's due on Steam on the 24th of April.[br]

Sulkdods, that's a 10-dollar bill. And fix the duplicate image in your other news post.

what has that got to do with it being non linear? There was a fair bit in there but you could EASILY try it all out by the time Eli has finished his speech and introdued Alyx more formerly.

1. There's more than one of them.
2. I don't know which one you mean, but if it's the one I think you mean it's old and too old to edit.

Yes but you can hardly see it all running through with your "eyes closed". Doing that means that you do not take in the game and therefor you do not get the full gaming experience.
