Jesus Christ, thats horrible, that's the opposite of how I want to play. But thnx anyway.
Was your name PvtRyan in game by any chance?

Heh I'm such a slow gamer compared to you guys, I'm seriously taking my time with this one. One thing that has impressed me quite a lot is the side quests are generally quite involved and have lead ons. I did the fire ant mission (which was almost an epic in itself) and that's has a lead on, and the mail delivery letter has another one. Part of me wants to get on with the main story, but another part wants to roam around some more. Decisions.....

this run i'm gonna do everything except finish the game story

I finished the game today. Annoying, but luckily I had a save file just before the final quest is triggered so I went back to that and now I'm gonna go explore the rest of the wasteland. I feel as though I've rushed this game but I think in the end maybe that's for the best - my gut tells me I'm not enjoying this as much as I thought I would be and there are a lot of things that really bother me about it. I think I'll be trading this in for L4D when it comes out as I'm really strapped for cash.

I'll give it til then, though, and I'll see how I feel. I don't really know what I have to say about the game if I'm honest. To be fair, it's only been a weekend, so I'll comment properly in a week or so.

Verdict so far - 6/10.

Jesus wept, how much speed did you take? Seriously I've been on this pretty much all weekend and I've hardly even cut the cake in terms of progress. Did you not bother with any of the side quests at all?

I honestly thought she just wanted me to deliver a letter, thats why I chose the quest as one the first.

Moira's quests are interesting and was the most fruitful in the early stage of the game

Does the whole game end when you finish the main quest?

Yes.

I did loads of side quests - it's just none of them were really that interesting to me and/or were very easy.

You will cut the cake in terms of progress, though, and it will be very fast. The main quest is tiny. Of the top of my head, it's like four quests long, with about two side quests thrown in to mix things up a bit.

Very lackluster stuff.

Decided to go for it and buy this over Fable 2.

Did the little intro, was pretty clever way of integrating everything. Just exited the Vault and the place looks HUGE, I can't wait to go exploring :D

I heard about that "fire ant" quest. Which town do you get it in exactly?

I thought the intro was kind of ****ing boring. Seriously, making you sit a standardized test (that doesn't even count for shit)? :|

Also, am I right in understanding that your character is 19 when they leave the vault? Kind of makes some of the more ridiculous looking beard options seem a bit improbable. :p

I dunno, there are some people that develop facial hair at like age 14-15, so four years isnt too much of a stretch.

Wow, Im very impressed with this game. I just started, but so far I found the parents that i was delivering the letter too. Ahh... I also had the blow up/disarm the bomb option. I told the sherif and he got shot when we went to make the arrest. The "suit" told me to "watch my back" and started to walk away. I then toke the sheriffs assult rifle and shot him 3 times in the back of the head using VATS.

This game is awesome.

Why do so few people choose not to kill Burke before he offs the Sherriff?

...

You do realize that number is the number of possible permutations, not actual endings?

Indeed there are what 26 ending .bik movies? Do the math.

Do the math. It plays a combination of endings depending on how you went about playing. Did you just miss what I quoted Mikael Grizzly saying?

Problem here is not nostalgia, but rather lack of appreciation for good old games by the modern gamer, spoiled by graphics.

Sorry but graphics aren't the only thing that has changed over time.

Remember what I said last time? But yes I do have a habit of taking things too literally.

I'm near the end of the game, I'm no oblivion fan or fallout 1/2 fan. but I quite enjoyed it thus far.

Plus you gonna love Malcolm's wonderful voice acting.

He was also quite amusing in "Mummy: Tomb of the Pharaoh."

You managed to kill him before he left the bar? I tried that option, but the guy got to the door before I managed to kill him, so I reloaded back a bit and used my feminine wiles on Burke instead to spare the town (for a bit) ;)

Ugh, there's an annoying bug on the quest regarding Big Town where you get three choices on how to help the settlement(depending on your skill), if you pick Science(repair the robots) the robots are nowhere to be found thus preventing you from accomplishing the task, this has been confirmed as a bug, the robots aren't even spawned ingame, it can be fixed on the PC version with console commands but this is a pretty big bug that one would think they'd fixed before release seeing as there aren't THAT many quests in the game..

Here's a PSA to any stupid person that claims there are 26 stand-alone endings.

There are FOUR endings. The .bik files in the Video directories are slides for the endgame slideshow, ya tards.

Can you get turned into a Ghoul? I've seen some pictures.

I think two bots are meant to spawn but only one ever does for me and all the town people follow it around and nothing attacks.

Nobody claimed that you grouchy old bastard. Take a class in reading comprehension and realise it's been discussed and explained what the 26 .biks do.

Quest query on the Lucy West mission:-

I explored Hamilitions? retreat, killed all the scorps etc, but buggered if I can find the key for this caged room at the back of the complex, no doubt full of awesome stuff. Anyone have a clue as to where it may be?

Anyone able to help?

Also those crab men are annoyingly tough bastards...

I'm more in love with this game than I ever was with Oblivion, or even the first two Fallouts. What was once a chore (combat, interface, exploring) is now more fluid, intuitive and expressive than any of those games. The individual areas offer so much detail and character that it's actually worth seeking them out this time, even if it's just to take in the environment. Some of the animations and textures are wonky, but it's understandable considering the huge scope of the game; you can't expect every single facet to be flawless when there's so much to offer.

Real-time combat ain't so hot, but because it's so fast-paced it makes waiting for your action points to recharge more exciting. It's similar to the feeling I get with the recharging shields in Halo, except a lot less forgiving. I will never, ever get tired of blasting off heads with my combat shotgun either. Having to scavenge all of my resources keeps things exciting as well, especially when you're playing a goody two-shoes who won't steal things. This is also the first game I've played where degrading equipment actually adds to the experience, rather than just feeling like an arbitrary increase to the difficulty. Oh, and having so many of your consumables be radiated is a great dynamic as well. I have a ridiculous amount of Rad Away as it is, but it's still fun in a role-playing kind of way. :)

Getting Perks every level was a great idea as well, they're the most interesting part of actually levelling up and it makes character customisation more involving for me. Plus I get to play dress up! :dork:

The radio adds so much to the atmosphere, hearing about your escapades and listening to awesome songs while trying to desperately survive an ambush, or wandering around a bombed out office block, or one of the depressing settlements. It makes exploring more interesting and less solitary as well. :)

p.s. User Interface is awesome as well. I'm gonna burn myself out on this game aren't I? Mirror's Edge can't get here fast enough.

p.p.s. Anyone got a licenced soundtrack listing?

I just finished the game, needless to say, the ending was probably the biggest dissappointment in the game for me so far, extremely short despite the fact I did all the quests etc, no details what happened to people I encountered, or settlements etc, overall it was over in maybe 30-40 seconds.

I did enjoy playing the game through though.

Some other things bother me about the story too, apparently Bethesda consider Fallout Tactics CANON, which is ****ing STUPID, they also make some nonsensical decisions when it comes to certain vaults, I will not spoil.

Thanks, but I'm looking for the keys location (not really a cheat code person). It's not in the complex or on any of the bodies as far as I can determine.

So I just made it out of the Vault. I got
S 1
P 4
E 6
C 8
I 8
A 8
L 5

Big guns 32
Small guns 36
Speech 36

At level 2 I made speech 45, small guns 41, medicine 35
and took swift learner perk.

I can still go back and change everything as it only takes 5 min.

Any good, should I change.

I wouldn't have picked two weapon specs, just choose one.

I've found big guns is damn near useless since ammo is so sparse for them

At level 20 now, been playing for about 47 hours, donbe all of the quests except the last one (since it ends the game) and I'm going for all the achievements(besides the evil and neutral ones). Need to get the bobbleheads and kill the last 3 behemoths, and make 1 of every custom weapon.

My stats are-
S6
P8
E6
C4
I10
A10
L3(or 4 if I have the ranger armor on).

And then energy weapons, small guns, lock pick, science, repair, stealth, and speech are all maxed.

The strategy guide has all the details on how you get the endings, but I'm not reading it right now.

I'm waiting for the first patch then I'm gonna do a new game for achievements-whoring.

DO NOT TAKE THE SWIFT LEARNER PERK.

You've just wasted a perk. Perks are supposed to grant bonuses and enhance abilities, not make you earn more experience so that you can get more perks.

It's not a waste if you want to level up fast
