Probably the most fun I had in the game last night....

I was told I need to go to the Library in the center of downtown and gather information from some books. I fast travel to a nearby waypoint *right outside of the commercial portion..* and step foot on the pavement. The streets are cracked, thrown around, and just demolished. I look around, expecting to see any sort of activity...maybe a raider, but nothing. I begin to walk under an overpass and I spy a cage with some medical boxes on top. I rush over and grab all the stimpacks and blood packs that I could. Expecting this to be some raiders hide out, I quickly grab what I need and run towards my objective.

Walking in between giant skyscrapers, cut in half by time and the obvious, when I hear a snarl to my left. I spin as fast as I could and see a mutated dog lunge at me. I get bitten, but not before I unload my Combat Shotgun into his face, blowing it clean off. I see a raider in the distance, probably who sent the dog after me, begin to shoot his pistol from a long distance at me. I pull out my Laser Rifle and pull up the VATS and target his head. 23% chance. Looks good to me! I pull the trigger, get a critical hit, and the raider is reduced to ashes. I run over and scavenge his ashed body for any bullets he had for me. Then it hit me....

To my right, a huge explosion pushed me to the side, while I'm trying to run for my life and figure out where that came from. I peak around the corner of a building, and see a raider with what looks like a...wait, is that a ROCKET LAUNCHER?! Great, I have to find a way to deal with that. I start to throw my grenades while ducking behind my shelter. My arm is a little sore from the blast, so the grenades fall short each time. I pull out the Hunting Rifle and start taking pop shots. Another rocket is let loose, this time a little more off than the previous one, as it explodes a ways behind me. I look back to see the aftermath, and a small mushroom cloud just billows up, as ominous as ever.

I turn around, and realize the raider is running at me with a pool cue out. I open up VATS one more time, target the head with an 87% chance to hit and begin unloading. With the final shot, the head of the raider disconnects from the body, and flies into the distance.

All of this, and I'm not even 1/4 of the way to the library....this is going to be a long journey.

Anyone met a Deathclaw yet?

I advise you to go out of your way to not meet one.

Yeah, but if you have a good weapon they are quite easy to deal with individually, just cripple one of their limbs, and assuming you're not overencumbered and incredibly slow you'll be able to outrun them, turn around, unload a mag, repeat.

I had the unfortunate luck to stumble upon the town of Old Olney and at the time, was carrying quite alot of gear that I was stocking up and getting ready to sell/trade. Quite slow, and I hadn't the ammo to deal with three of those bastards.

I handled that by getting ontop of one of the piles of rubble around because the AI isn't smart enough to navigate them so I could just stand ontop of there shooting at them while they ran around me like ****ing moooooh-rans.

I saw one, lucky for me it was at 1/2 life, and a bit idiot....it never had the chance to hit me. But I unloaded a shit ton of bullets at it.

Anyone else thinks that weapons/armor degrades a bit too quickly?

I haven't really had an issue, I just wish I could repair my weapons! Most of the time, I don't have the items, so I gotta pay too much money for someone else to.

BARG. My poor Assault Rifle needs help.

The worst glitch I've encountered is crashes an awful lot as specific parts...

I know how to fix it though, so I'm not complaining, as I will be fixing it this coming week.

Game crashes all the time for me.
But not before I saved the sheriff.

It get even worse when you get the Chinese Assault Rifle, arguably one of the best automatic weapons in the game, because pretty much only Master Mutants have them..

**** yeah. My character started out as a saint, saved megaton, but then I went to tenpenny towers and massacred everybody. But now I'm rich and stocked with more than I can carry =)

I was thinking of doing that. Previously to having massacred the Towers, were you a 'Very Good' player? What became of your status afterward?

I killed Tenpenny and received good karma for doing such. I was thinking about starting top floor and killing everyone all the way down!

I've gone one, and it's a decent gun.....but it's pretty low on the condition.

Is there any reliable way to get bobby pins other than random scavenging? I'm always horribly low on them, and very hard locks are real bitches.

The capitol building was so much god damn fun.

I shot the sheriff(on my second playthrough I've started), but I did not shoot the deputy.

God damn you and your music.

I've killed many. Hawkes kills them by the dozen, and one killed the Brotherhood partner I had briefly.

I killed one with my bare hands!

...those hands were holding a rifle of course.

I've beena ale to buy the bobby pins from certain merchants.

Who needs to steal stuff when you can shoot everything.

Exaggerate much? :dozey:

I've heard of 2 bugs so far, neither of which are show stoppers.
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_bugs

95% of them probably aren't that bad, though.

Wait, they let you in in the first place? I murderized Mr. Burke, do you think they'll still let me in?

First thing I did when I left the vault was go left, kill raiders till i went to Big Town, saved the town and its people. Went to megaton, killed Burke and defused the bomb. Ended up with Very Good, Defender. After tenpenny I was Good, peacekeeper or something like that.

Wait, they let you in in the first place? I murderized Mr. Burke, do you think they'll still let me in?

Yeah but you have to pay a 100 caps.

Well, I'm playing through the "Blood Ties" mission and there was an INT option available while speaking to Vance. Does anyone know if that is stat based or not? I thought they said the INT *stat* wouldn't influence conversation.

Oh it defintiely does. Every stat can influence conversation, even agililty.

I haven't seen Strength yet but I think there was one where I was trying to reassure someone that ''it would be alright".

That's awesome. Funny, thought the devs said the opposite in a few interviews (about INT, not the other stats). It's a nice surprise, I must say.

Oh shit did I have a goddamn fright earlier. There I was bounding through the wasteland away from some pesky radscorpions when a goddamn Yao Guai jumps out of nowhere and attacks me. I was in 3rd person mode at the time and man, those things are silent. I get rid of it and I'm still pretty jumpy yet I make no more then ten steps down the road and I get pounced on again from behind, even though I was rotating the camera every few seconds.

Those things must have the eyes of... something with powerfull eyes, because those mother****ers can stalk you for miles.

I also came across a deathclaw with Enclave soldiers today. I thought ''**** yeah, tear them apart!'' but no, it came after ME with them at it's side. Turns out it has some sort of device on it's head but he done gone slash me up. Sad face.

LOL, some choice 'bugs' in that list....

Drop in FPS after playing for an extended period of time. Restarting the game fixes this

In the wasteland, if user looks at the mountains, the geometry flickers even with Ultra settings.

95% are probably user specific, because by and large people are ****ing tards when it comes to troubleshooting PCs. If something can be repeated across a number of systems then it's a genuine bug, but if it's something that's on and off then it's generally a glitch, and that's normally an indicator that either the game settings are too high, the machine it is running on isn't powerful enough to deliver consistency, or the OS/Drivers aren't up to date.

The funny thing for the glitches, I had my settings optimal for looks vs frames. I kept it at 30 FPS. When going into VATS, if there wasn't a wall right behind them, I would LAG real bad.

Come to find out it was the Depth of Field that was slaughtering me. Stupid DOF.

Update on Patch front:-

http://www.n4g.com/pc/News-226437.aspx

The Fallout 3 PC patch will not be released today according to a Bethesda staff member. Instead, it will be released later this week. The patch also only addresses issues of the game crashing on exiting the game. Bethesda is "moving along with pulling together a more extensive update. We?re still in the process of going through and looking at any issues/fixes, and once that is done there is lots of additional testing/fixing that has to be done before it can be released. Similarly, we're looking into matters on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The initial thrill wore off earlier this day. It's still a pretty good game... but now I notice the bad writing, uninspired colour palette and downright stupid design choices.

I still love the Colonel.

Well, I'm playing through the "Blood Ties" mission and there was an INT option available while speaking to Vance. Does anyone know if that is stat based or not? I thought they said the INT *stat* wouldn't influence conversation.

Problem is, choices that require an Intelligence check are of the Captain Obvious kind.

I want my KOTOR2, where it actually had a really meanignful impact on the dialogue.

Just did Vault 112.

The forced stupidity of my protagonist is very jarring. "OH I WILL FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF THIS BRAINROBOT AND STRAP MYSELF INTO A MAGIC CHAIR." "HEY I BET THAT ALL THESE GUYS ARE JUST ON LIFE SUPPORT, LET'S JOIN THEM." "HO HO HO GET GOOD KARMA FOR GETTING OUT OF THE SIMULATION BY KILLING EVERYBODY ON THE LIFE SUPPORT WHAT FUN". Seriously, what the **** were they thinking?

Also as soon as I got out of the building back into the Capitol Wastelands I was ambushed by three talon mercs, 3 raiders, two radscorpions, and a yao gui. Who all fought one another, as well.

Answer to the Vault 112 thing
If you go to the abandoned house in Tranquility lane, you can select some objects right by the door that make noise, if you do them in the right order, you can access the good karma answer: chinese invasion. Quite frankly you getting good karma from it doesn't seem to make sense from the other way either, just less sadistic I guess

Now my own question, a simple yes or no is all I request, has to do with Amata, probably spoiler safe for someone who has beaten the game already.
After she becomes overseer and tells you to leave the vault, are you ever allowed to interact with her again?
Also I read about the endings just having slight variations to them, you can get about 3 by just changing small things just before the ending part. I'll find out the others by playing again instead of getting spoiled about every single one but I have to say, I wish the game could continue after it, I mean...
Whether its death or you live, its "story ends." I'd rather go take Amata to Megaton and chill or something, Fawkes can be the royal guard :D (god damn he made the game easier). Well either way it seems there can definitely be a sequel (at least in the universe) with so much crap going on, and the last line being "war never changes."

Some retarded on SteamPowered spoiled the game for me. :hmph:

He said someone sabotages Vault-112.

I whouldn't really call that a spoiler.

But seriously, final quest:

Why couldn't that stupid mother****ing mutant asshole punsh in the code? I even told him too. All he said was that he whouldn't rob me of my desteny. COME ON! He was all set on; ooh im gonna save your life and stuff! but when shit start to go down, he was a pussy.

I just think it was stupid when I managed to get fawkes there an all.
