F.E.A.R. single-player demo to be released this Friday

Looks Beautiful, Gameplay wonderful, and the little effects add so much. Just plain cool. Definitely has its own unique feel, that does take time getting use to, but feels more realistic than other games. And im playing the game at half specs. NEED TO UPGRADE!

Ok, installed the game but when i try to start it up it says "A security module could not be accessed and the program could not be executed" ?

Any ideas?

Had the same problem. I think it has to do with cd emulation software. I had anti-blaxx running and had to disable it. Just close any kind of software you might have like that.

Hmmm, whenver I start it from the shortcut my computer completely freezes, as in i can't even move my mouse. I haven't gotten around to trying to start it some other way or reinstalling it yet though.

My specs are pretty crappy, but above minimum requirments:

2.66 gig Pentium 4
512mb RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

Help?

Ugh I get past all the story things at the beginning, but I freeze at loading before I get into the actual map...

Bummer. :(

Realistic? You can go into bullet-time mode for God's sake!

Totally need a new gfx card to play this at a decent resolution with nice features on. Class game though.

Played through the game several times, haven't dismembered anyone at all :(
I have to say, it is very random. Like during one round I shot a guy in the head with the shotgun and nothing, and then I shot another guy in the back with the pistol and he exploded with gibs everywhere. I think they need to work on the gibbing system a little bit.

Umm.....this is embaressing but.....

How do you kill the guy near the start who busts through the door? The one with the armor, he seems to have some kind of energy shield. I unloaded 2 whole clips into him but he won't go down.

This game is too much for my 9600xt... I think I'm getting about 20-30 fps and that's with all settings on low/medium and 800x600 resolution. :|

Grenade + keep shooting/keep shooting

He'll go down eventually

WTF WHY DOES MY COMPUTER FREEZE WHEN I START THE GAME!
I meet the requirements!

Got your latest video card drivers?

I like the way you cause a wave when you move in the water, thats the 1st time iv seen that in a game.

Morrowind did it :p

I'm not too keen on the water rendering, as someone said before it looks to have an oil consistency rather than water

Get right into his face and blast him with the shotty.
Goes down real easy.

I like how FEAR is actually creepy, while still having the action packed shootouts. I have to admit I felt a jolt when you

went onto the ladder in that big room, then the little girl was standing there in your face

Let's hope for some patches or something.

I have a 3.2GHz P4
1gig RAM
256mb GeForce 6800 GTO

It goes through intro/cutscene fine... Then once it tries to load the level it just hangs and nothing happens.

I have all latest drivers for video/sound/bios for motherboard, etc etc... No beta drivers, just the official supported ones as it states in the readme.

Rawr, I hate this... I couldn't even play the MP beta because it kept doing this crap also!!! /me is upset

Bit short for a 600mb demo I found, but all in all it was enjoyable, what really struck me was the enemy AI, they really get stuck in to hand to hand combat, and to see them dive through windows, kick through doors etc. to get at you impressed me alot.

The AI is very good idd. It's the most elaborate I have seen since FarCry. It can surprise you; that's the fun of it.

Damn I got a R9600~pro (overclocked). Does it look like shit in these settings? I played HL2 in 1024, all high, no AA/AF fine. Same with Doom3.

..wow

I went into a long hallway and the door closed, so I looked behind me and was like "oh shit.."

I froze, then about 10 seconds later, I go into a hallway. and..I just can't go any farther.

lol, your near the end of the demo- you can do it.

Just finished it. It's barely scarier than Ravenholm, I'm kinda deceived. Bullet time effect is way superior to Max Payne, but I could see how the game could get boring, fast.

Kinda neat cinematic feel, but HL2 is still the best FPS i've ever played.

EDIT: It's also really easy once you figure out the pattern, even on difficult. I ended difficult with 2 medpacks left.

W00teh I fixed it!

Frickin Windows was the problem :sniper:

Anyways the demo was pretty cool... I never jumped, but I certainly got all "wtf?" and then I got butterflies in the stomach for the whole

girl right in your face on the ladder, then zombie dude

Anyways, it's definetely a pretty original game... Not sure how much lasting appeal it will have.

Is there supposed to be radio chatter? Because I get that 'incoming: unknown origin' thing and my hud flickers but I don't hear any sound. Also, how do you get the console?

There's meant to be a static-type noise.

Great fun but lacks some vital production values.

The intro cutscene seemed really iffy to me. Some of it was really well done, some of it was really plain. The scary parts weren't really scary, except that hallway, and whilst the combat was great stuff, the demo really was just moving from one room to another fighting the same guys as before. The way the combat is setup reminds me tons of Halo. Same enemies, same amount, over and over.

And, the worst part about the demo was, that i'm not at all scared of that little girl anymore. I mean, when you go down the ladder, she was giggling. It just didn't scare me.

I thought the A.I was fantastic though. Not really anything new when you think about though, because its basically doing the same thing as every other game out there is. Contextual A.I i mean. Still it was pretty impressive to see them jump over windows and knock down shelves, but everytime i get to certain fights, the same things happen. The same guy throws down a shelf or the same guy leaps over a wall. Still, it was a heck of a lot of fun to fight them. Kinda like a combination of the fast-paced fights of Half-life 2 and the drawn out close quarter stuff of Riddick.

This game shows a heck of a lot of promise, thats for sure. I'll buy it because i love Monolith. Whether or not it'll be as good as the NOLF games is a different story.
