TBH, I don't know what I'm gonna do. Everything I've seen of FO3 so far screams mediocrity. BUT they decided not to ship any DRM with in the game, which seems to be something truly worthy of praise these days and something I personally want to support. Soooo... should I buy the game to support Bethesda's choice of NO DRM, but at the same time support a possibly mediocre game? I only wanna support companies that make good games! ;( But no drm = WIN!! I can't decide! Impossible! Nooooo! *head explodes*
Or maybe the game will actually turn out to be an amazing feat of game design (ie. good) and I'm worrying over nothing
I didn't even notice the lack of shadows. :|
I agree to an extent that companies should be allowed to flounder and die if nobody wants their product, but I think when people say they're 'supporting' a particular company it's not because they think that company needs money. Rather, it's because consumers have looked at the conflicting attitudes and ideologies of companies within the marketplace and decided that they want to see a certain type of business model prevail over another one.Wear did this idea that we're supposed to buy products to "support" corporations come from? Did some genius viral marketer somewhere at sometime create this ridiculous concept?
I see it everywhere ... I don't get it. Companies aren't charities. I care nothing about "supporting" them. I buy products because I want them, no other reason is at all relevant.
PS: In all honestly, I mean honestly, do you really think Fallout 3 would please the mass public (and I'm not talking about hardcore fallout fans here, if that were the case, they would be making fan product that probably would sell to a minority...) if it was like the original ones, becasue I sure don't.

Fanboy-ism clouds your judgment ol' prickly one.
Oh god i'm seizing with excitment over this game! Only16 more days!! OH GAWD IVE NEVER BEEN THIS HAPPY FOR A GAME.
Jintor's sarcasm-o-meter is broken, we need a replacement! Hold him down!
Oblivion had bad graphics and you can stop playing because you are obviously missing something about what the graphics in a game should be
I liked oblivion's lighting engine, and I liked the draw distance. Their models were ok, and the stuff they got from speedtree looked alright, but holy **** I hated their textures. They all looked so bad. Characters faces, the ground textures, wall textures, uhg. Thank god some of the people in the modding community had some texturing skill, because god damn the originals were FUUUUUGLY.
Yeah, I am gonna stab you through the liver.
hi i'm Krynn! i write game reviews without ever playing the game!
In essence, yes.
Yeah, God forbid if he's excited for a game that'll probably get rave reviews and provide many players with hours and hours of entertainment.

You know full well most reviews nowadays are completely and utterly pointless, as they are little more than hype flagships of marketing.
Like the exclusive reviews certain mags will get from Bethesda. Gee whiz, what rating could possibly the game get in such a case?
A lot of people will say it's good and a lot will say it's bad. Yours and my opinion do not account for everyone else. Just saying.
I wouldn't be so sure of that.
Funny how a lot of games share many of the traits on that list. Current and past mind you that many people have enjoyed. I'm not saying it's not a bad game just that you need to rethink what game design actually is and realise it's completely subjective. What you specifically mention in that cute little list aren't all problems from design but technical, artistic, and all other manner of problems.
* Bad texture work
* Mediocre animations
* Lack of any reaction to being hit from the AI
* Lollerskating enemies (animation not reflecting the speed of the character)
* The magazine not being detached when reloading the AR
* Badly implemented ragdoll system
* Lousy AI (BoS behaves like a bunch of retards with lasers when attacking)
* One-shot killgun.
Off the top of my head. It's simply bad game design.
