Final Fantasy 12

...oh god, one character... geez good luck :p
Hahaha! Yeah, I am thinking about the logistics of it and it is not exactly looking too good, but it would be really kick-ass to do it, so its worth a try, esp. if I don't open any of those damnable chests that bar you from getting the Zodiac Spear. How was I to know???

And @Zeus: This is the most fun I have had playing a Final Fantasy game, but 7 and 4 were really close behind it. Easily one of the top 10 PS2 games ever though.

try top 3 PS2 games!
ya it's definately a great game; well worth the money

if and when i start a new game, instead of playing with one character, im gonna choose my 3 favs and stick with them throughout the entire game, no matter what. and i wont even play the others unless i have to :p

I'm looking forward to getting this when it comes out in Australia, sometime before the end of time.

So are you saying this game is better than Final Fantasy 7? If so that may be reason enough to buy it....

Its quite close, if not better. Yes. =) Then again I have not beat FFXII yet so the ending COULD still suck completely... but I doubt it.

Yeah, I think it is better, though it does lack a seriously kick-ass character like Sephiroth (though Balthier is way cool) and a heart-breaking moment like Aerith's scene (though I got a little weepy a couple of times already), but overall its scope is just so damn vast that it cannot be beaten, esp. when examined with the new battle system in mind--tons better than the old system(s). Its truly incredible. The only thing that could make it better would be an entirely seamless world, but that won't happen this generation (though Rogue Galaxy and DQ8 come exceptionally close).

does anyone know how to access the rest of the henne mines? you know the part that can be reached from the feywood? there are like level 64 bats in there... well its cut off by two train crashes... do i have to open up certain doors from the other side or something... id really like to know cause the xp those bats give me is unbeleivable (at least 2000 x2 with the tippet on)

also, whats up with those doors in the necrohols that require medallions? where do you get them and what do they do and whats behind those doors??

thanks!

The rest of the Henne Mines can only be accessed after you have at least 10 espers. (There may be a mob hunt requirement too, I don't remember.) If you meet the requirements, there's a Garif in Jahara that will tell you about the secret section of the Mines and the intersection north of the Henne teleport crystal, which up until that point had only the south and west gates open, will then have the east gate open as well. About those bats... there's a lot of them in that section, as well as other hard enemies, so be prepared. If you just want XP, better to kill Shield Wyrms in the Cerrobi Steppe.

And about those doors in the Necrohol: There is a lot of questing necessary to get them. I'll hint at where to start. Talk to Nu Mou (the short creatures that there's a lot of on Mt Bur-Omisace), specifically the ones in the Nabreus Deadlands, Old Dalin's house, and the magic shop in Archades.

I'd say what's in that section of the Mines and what's behind the doors, but I can't figure out how to get spoiler tags to work.

great, thanks for the info

i did talk to that one guy in the deadlands.. he said i might encounter his buddies along the way... and that they each held a key for him or something
intriguing............ :D

I can safely say that the medallion side quest(s) are a serious business. There's a LOT more to it than you might think for a normal sidequest. I started doing a bunch for it but needed a break so I went to Pharos--that colored-crystal teleport area is really ticking me off though!! I keep making mistakes and ending up in the locked room!!! Ugh! I'll try harder tonight :(

Gilgamesh is pissing me off...
during the first fight i was able to steal the genji gloves and shield
but during the second fight, i literally spent 20 minutes trying to steal from him and the best i could come up with was a few x-potions! and this is with thief's cuffs on of course
guess i just gotta get lucky next time

Yeah, the second Gilgamesh battle can be a real b1tch. He had to get pretty far down on his health in order for me to be able to steal the rest of the Genji equipment for me, so just keep plugging away at him. Its well worth it--with that kit and the Masamune Vaan was getting 3-5 hit combos every other turn!! Its incredible for damage!!

yes!! cant wait

gonna try to get his HP really low first, thanks

EDIT:
it worked! i was able to steal the whole set :)
what a battle though! i fought hard to the very last hit... musta used 20+ phoenix downs, all of my megalixirs, all ethers and all of my x-potions.... but i did it!
masamune is absolutely awesome with the genji gloves!!

Congrats!! I know what a relief it was to be done with that battle, but at the same time, I didn't want it to end! Its easily my favorite fight in the game (so far). I love the special music too--I want that track now! I gotta find the whole soundtrack somewhere....

Yes, this is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

just saying hi.:cheese: :cheese:

is there any girls in this site?

hello, anybody there!!!

Stop triple posting, post something relevant to the thread in question and yes, there are.

wtf..?

anyways, do any of you guys actually use summons? cause i dont... but maybe i should... but i only have 4 or 5 i think

espers = biggest waste. thats one system that sucks in 12. the espers are completely useless once u get to levels where enemies do 1000 damage a hit.

The espers were fun battles, though. I got all thirteen. Didn't buy any of their licenses, though. Except for Belias, for story reasons.

My favorite battles were the bosses leading up to Chaos, Ultima. I also appreciated Omega Mk XII.

My least favorite was Yiazmat. I felt sick by the end. Just 50 million HP of repetitive battle.

ya i like the battles too
they're quite challenging... especially early on in the game when all the characters suck :p

Yeah, I agree that the espers are virtually useless in the game. I really just wish they had more to do with the plot. They could have thought up some really cool reasons for finding and defeating them. Still, with so much other stuff going on in this game that is so well thought-out, a little less plot for the espers is a minor gripe. :)

Oh, and for anyone who thinks FF is ghey, they need only to witness the transformation of Vayne during the final battles of FF12. Incredibly manly and awesome!!!

without giving too much away... how did you like the ending?

Well, it was great, but I wanted to get into some more detail on some of the characters and what happens to them afterward because right now I definitely want a spinoff series or something to get more time with them and their adventures. I have no doubt that a couple of them will be staples in FF games to come--or at least they'd better be!!!

what was your level when you ended the game?
Well, you won't like this, but Vaan was 99, Basch and Balthier were 92. That auto-levelling got way out of hand in the end there!!! I was far too powerful for the final battles. No one even broke a sweat.

I am starting over and trying to do things with just one character for the most part. The game is so much fun that I doubt I will ever get bored (well, at least until Rogue Galaxy and Persona 3 come out ;) ).

wow
after acquiring 10 espers and defeating mind flayer, im finally able to access the hidden area of the Henne mines
awesome xp here... level 65's getting 3000 x2(tippet) per every abysteel and there are a ton of them in there
has anyone attempted to kill zodiac yet?

Ok, so this is off topic, but sort of related news:

I just heard about (and then went out and got) a demo disc that is available from EBGamestop for ROGUE GALAXY, Level 5's next incredible RPG that is due out (in the US at least) at the end of January. The game looks and plays like a dream--its incredible and the disc is only one tiny part of it. Anyone who is a fan of Level 5's previous work (Dark Cloud/Chronicle 2 and Dragon Quest VIII and the upcoming White Night Story for the PS3 in particular) or any FF fan will absolutely LOVE this game. I believe you can just ask for one and not have to reserve it, but you will want to reserve it anyway because it rocks so hard. I just got mine last night and I am loving trying to do every possible thing in the demo areas. This one is going to be awesome. Good luck and enjoy!

On-topic: No, I haven't tried Zodiac yet, but I only have like 7 or 8 espers right now anyway. I have focused more on the mob hunts--now those were fun!!

I got this for xmas, I'm up to this

How far am I into the game about?

along the main plot line? maybe 15%? not very far
how do you like it so far?

I love it, not as much as 7 though (yet). It doesn't really feel as free-roaming as 7, but then again, 7 was pretty linear until like 20% into the game as well, so I'm hoping that changes up. I'm really liking the story a lot though, and Balthier is definitely my favorite character so far. I'm still adjusting to the new combat system (I'm used to random encounters) but overall the game is a lot better than I expected so far.

Dino thing

Yeah i thought the dino thing would be a hunt later on or something cuz i killed it with my esper which was pretty easy and got like 2500 exp or something but then i left the place three times and kept going back and the dino never came back so thank god i saved the game before i killed it cuz i want my money for the hunt!

Uh wheres the cluckatrice?

I searched everywhere in the plains and cant find it so i went on with the story and now im stuck with the rains so i know i cant do the cluckatrice now. Next question, i cant find that village your suppose to go to after the rains. Do u have to go through some tunnel to get there cuz im afraid to go in there (aint no pussy either)

FFX is the only FF game i've ever really had, and I hated it.

Will I hate this too?

@pinkdude
if you're referring to the dino in the westersand near dalmasca at the beginning of the game, i think it may just be a "rare" creature that gives great xp and lp and never appears again
but try searching the beastiary
also, i THINK it just takes time for that area to stop raining.. either that or you have to exit and re-enter the area until it clears
search gamefaqs.com

@sinkoman
i never played FFX so i cant say for sure
but this game is definately worth a try even if you're not a fan of the genre/series
so just rent it!

@pinkdude
Yeah, the seasons in the Giza Plains cycles. I'm not sure if it's based on time or steps taken or what, but if you leave, do other stuff, and come back, it'll change.

@sinkoman
Well, I'm playing through FFX now, and I'm actually liking it a lot, but it's very different from FFXII, almost a different genre, so you may like it. FFXII is way more open ended.

@B_MAN
"has anyone attempted to kill zodiac yet?" Yep. I have. I've beaten every boss in the game.

Just watched the intro FMV. Pretty damn awesome it must be said. How much do you think it costs them to make something like that?

I haven't played it yet but I wish they would let you be tough guys like Basch instead of pussy blonde guys.

Once they join your party, you can play as anyone you like as the main character. Most people seem to prefer Balthier--he is the leading man after all ;-)

The only thing I wish would be that the outfits on the models change as you change armor and equipment and such, like in the upcoming Rogue Galaxy.

I didn't really like what I've seen so far. (Haven't finished it yet)

It has too little storyline in it methinks. I preffer older FF games really. FFVII = win.

Did you think that Tactics had too little story too??
