Gears of War (X360) Discussion!

Ok this game is hard enough in Hardcore, ill get stuck on the first encounter on Insane at this rate haha.

Mind-blowing game though. Havent played a game that made me scream '**** yeah!' and '****ing have some!' in a long time hehe.

9.5/10

A long time ago, i let my brother take my 360 down to his home because i never used it, but he brought it back on the weekend with GoW wrapped up, and i can't say this about many console games..even less Xbox games because i never liked the original Xbox but GoW is ****ing awesome. I want my 360 back lawl ! i didn't set it up on my internet but i can imagine this game is good in MP.

Indeed it is, over here you get 48 hours of free XBLGold with it so I got a brief taste of it, it was fun but I suck.:D

I think eventually it will come to PC, but not sure.

Oh, was i the only one who thought this was a first person shooter!?:O

If the question was "Was this game planned for the PC?", then no, from all I've read it's always been a planned 360 game, but the devs have when asked about a PC version said that if they'd do it, they'd start development after they had the 360 version out in stores, but considering the reviews it has garnered, I wouldn't be surprised.:)

YES !
EB just called and told me they had my GOW copy in store and I can go get it !

1 bad thing, I have no car for ~45 mins. ;(
1 good thing, it wasn't suppose to be out till this thurs ! :D

oh gawd.. i just played this game last night for like 7 hours straight with my friends. it's so fvcking good it's not even funny. being able to take cover and the incredible graphics just changes everything. coop is the BEST.

man, this game does rock.

it's a fair challenge on hardcore too but screw starting on casual. :)

Yeah, I'm hearing it's coming into stock early in NZ too, half-expecting a call tomorrow. But I don't got moneys till Thursday anyway >_<

... Hey muuuuuuuuuuuum?

So many things about this game are great.

I love active reload. It's such a cool feature, and one that finds the perfect balance between risk and reward. For anyone who thought it would be a lame addition, you couldn't have been be more wrong - active reload is superb. The grenade melee attack is also awesome. Last night someone shoved a grenade into my chest and rolled away into the corner of the room, right next to one of his teammates. At hearing the beep I knew my time was up and dived straight after him - all three of us exploded into wonderfully squishy sounding chunks :)

Awesome multiplayer game.

Active reload is great, I always make sure to hit it just right so I get the added extra damage to the magazine ;) Although I find it a tad silly that the bullets do more damage because of hitting the reload just right, it's still a nice addition :)

I was very skeptical about Active Reload before the game came out, but that was before I knew you could easily jam the gun if you messed up. Also, if you reload before your clip is empty, it's good only the bullets at the end of the clip you added are super-bullets as opposed to the whole clip or the first rounds you'll fire. Another abuse prevention they added which is nice is the fact that quick consecutive active reloads are harder and harder to do. The target window slims quite a bit.

It could've been a shitty feature if they didn't do it right, but they pulled it off.

**** it. I love it. It becomes pretty easy to pull off a perfect reload once you do it enough.

I'm completely awesome at active reload.

In fact, I got "Zen and the Art Part 2" before I got "Zen and the Art of Reloading" :p

I hit the sweetspot most times. Really works wonders with the sniper rifle.

Haha, me too.

Anyone else not really need to look at the bar anymore ? I can pretty much always hit the solid white part without looking and it rocks in MP especially when you can see that they choke and have to sit through a full longgg reload.

This game rocks, so many things are damn fun, especially in MP.

...not a first person shooter? When they port it to PC, do you think they'll change that? I'd really like to play but I'm loathe to buy a console.

They specifically said that they made it 3rd person so that it would be a unique experience. First person would probobly be hard, because you cant get right up next to them without hacing your view be obstructed before you saw them up.

I'd have to see more. I'll check out some more in-game videos. I don't recall problems with chainsaws in other FPS?

Well, You cut through the crazily twitching body and blood splatters all over your screen. It's pretty fun.

It wouldn't work so well as an fps, i mean how would the cover system work ? Firing from behind cover whilst only sticking your gun into view, you wouldn't be able to see the people you were firing at at all ! Plus, the enemy tend to flank a lot in this game, and your attention is usually draw into the firefight going on ahead of you, at least in 3rd person you can see them before they're actually next to you beating you into a bloody pulp.

Agreed. GoW wouldn't work as a fps at all. One of the advantages of a 3rd person view is being able to see around obstacles youy're hiding behind - you can't do this in a fps. In a game like GoW, which is all about using cover, flanking, and being aware of everything that is happening nearby, playing in first person would be a massive hinderance. It also wouldn't be nearly as fun.

Why take a game that feels unique, is great fun, and make it like 100's of others?

it looks great, i seriously can't decide whether to get a 360 with this and then wait for halo 3 and fable 2.

or a wii and get zelda, mario, metroid, smash bros, eventually mariokart, etc.
it's a hard choice.

gears of war looks soooo good. plus, i think i actually need to play fable two to live.

GoW IS amazing, but i dont think it should mean the difference between getting a Wii or a 360 rambler.

We're talking a fair bit of money here, for either consoles. Wii looks good, but lacks the social side of play that the 360 offers via the net.

Although the Wii is more of a 'family' type console, with the whole doubles tennis etc etc etc. Kind of thing you would do when mates come around for a laugh.

"social side of play in the net" wtf?

Live is pretty sociable. Everyone has comms and there tends to be more chatting and laughing with people you don't know than you'll find on the pc. Nothing beats playing games with friends in the same room, but Live is a good sustitute.

In all fairness, Nintendo are the daddy when it comes to social, fun party games. I've been to parties with people I've never seen or spoke to before and after a few rounds of Mario Kart or SSB theres laughing, cursing and cheering going on all around. Great fun.

But I also agree that Live is socialable, too, just in it's own different way of social.

I WANT GEARS OF WAR. :( I'm pretty sure my 360 has arrived at my mums school, as I ordered it a week ago, I just don't get to play til Christmas. :( :( :(

Personally, I cant even understand how you could have trouble choosing between a Wii and 360. Unless of course you have limited funds, are a kid, or are buying a console for your children, then obviously the Wii is the more logical choice. But of course this is just IMO, Im sure plenty of people think its the greatest thing ever.

well i love zelda, and i absolutely loved the past smash brothers, plus mariokart is just the best game to play with mates imo

but then i also completely loved halo and fable, and i have to admit graphics are important to me because the look of a game is a big part of it imo. like lost planet look absolutely gorgeous.

i guess the games i really like are rpg's. but it's very rare to find one that's actually good, i'm not one of those people that plays hundreds of generic anime rpg's.

and i do have a big place in my heart for fps... (and if there's a good looking 3rd person game, forget about it, i'm there. i love being able to see you character... ie GoW LP) grrrrrr!! i dunno!!

put it this way, the wii looks so fun, and would be great with friends, but when i see those trilers for halo, fable, GoW and lost planet i just really wish i could play them. i think fable was probably one of my all time favourite games. plus live is undiniably cool and fun.

but then i also really wana play the new zelda, and smash bros.. and mario... oh but the one thing that put me off the new zelda is that it's a game cube port and the graphics suffer because of it (seriously wtf? get it together nintendo!)

but...
then..
and..
arrghhh!!!!!

Give it about 2, 3 or 4 months then. Get both. Save some cash, by then there'll be a much larger selection of games for both.

Or buy the Wii now (cheaper) and save for the 360.
