I was quite stunned. And this is coming out in October? I can't believe that for a second. But, R* always delivers on time.
 
HOLY CRAP! *Drops everything and buys a 360*

But I find that hard to believe considering every GTA has came out on the PS2 before the Xbox. I just am speechless
 
It's all about contracts. Playstation bought the rights to the GTA franchise for a certain amount of time (probably about 6 years), which has now expired. This means Rockstar are free to make GTA games for any console.
 
AHAHAHAHH to many good games coming out at one time. Can not take any more captain!

he said Gta4 will come to x360 "first" on that release day, other consoles will probably follow later.

and the exclusivity of content by rockstar is for "episodic content"

so those that are planning on getting other consoles, don't fret just yet.
 
Now that I wasn't expecting. Won't be buying a 360 to get it though.

I am not going to buy a 360 just for that unless it is the most entertaining game ever and has the best graphics ever. But I can still hang around Wal-Mart and play 360 for a few hours like I do now lol
 
It's not 360 exclusive, it's simultaneously released for hte PS3, GameSpot blog is errornous.

Doesn't matter much for me seeing as I have a 360, will be getting a PS3(November 2k7 when MGS4 releases hopefully), will be getting Wii, and wiill be getting a new PC :p

holy crap, i think this conference wins hands down then, god damn its like christmas as a kidm, but better! :D
 
I doubt I'd even get it for PS2 or anything I have anyways. I got tired of SA very fast and unless they change the formula up I don't plan on getting future GTA games.
 
October 16th 2007, meaning a brand new engine, woot.

But how can they be so accurate with their date? :p
 
R* always releases in October. It'll probably be pushed to the 22nd or 23rd.

Hopefully they have more online components this time around ;) Things like they did in Liberty City at least... Or perhaps just two-player free-roaming! That would be sweet.

Untill I saw post your desktop thread I never knew GTA ever came out on the PC. I must live in a cave or somthing
 
Not sure what to be most excited for: :bounce:

-News of a release date for GrandTheftAuto IV well in time for the holidays - Its finallllllllllyy coming. finally.

-The fact that it will be on next-gen systems - this should refresh the series with better game-play, better graphics, sounds, environments, phsyics, etc.

-Exclusive Episodic content on my system of preference - the 360. Download more areas and missions. Killer news.

So no GTA4 this year sadly..:(
All the good games seem to be 2k7 imo..

GamespotBlog dude said he got an official R* e-mail saying GTA4 would be on PS3 and Xbox 360 while the conference dude said 360 only!

*gasp*
 
Makes sense for all parties involved though really. No one loses out this time around. Can't wait to see the new engine, but like some have said before, if they don't change up the formula a lot, I might not even get it!! SA bored me much quicker than VC or III...dunno why. Maybe I have just been busier outside of gaming....

I feel the same way often, I think its just fanboys ignoring what they don't want to hear; Its not exclusive to their beloved system, and its not coming soon.
 
I'm sorry I was responding to the first post, as you can imagine it was just the immediate impression from what gamespot said.. If it's any constellation I don't even own an Xbox 360.
 
Damn, I just realized that GTA ports usually come out the following summer after their initial October release. That could mean no GTA4 on the PC until 2008. :rolling:

I don't like episodic content tbh... Especially if i have to pay for it (which i bet we will). Episodic will just make Dev. teams more lazy... they'll just think "oh, we'll stick that in the next episode..."

Though, i do love my GTA. And on a new engine is just awesome... Hope this one is better than GTA SA.
 
Of course, one difference is that GTA IV on the 360 will probably come over 3 or 4 DVDs whereas it presumably should all fit on a single Blu-Ray.

Not that it matters to me either way (I'm still undecided whether I'll get a 360 or PS3 to play GTA IV on) but to those who'll have both, the above is probably something worth considering, given that San Andreas itself only just fitted onto a 9GB dual layer DVD.

And what better way to ensure the kiddies buy the HD-DVD add-on than make GTA: IV an HD-DVD game!!! Ugh....

I doubt that but we'll have to wait and see, more info is supposed to come at this E3 iirc..
 
This will be THE reason I get a xbox 360. It'll be the thing that finally pushes me over. I planned on one eventually, but only if a game was good enough.

I'm also waiting for modchips for it. :shh:
