It's a texture for the DX7 Shotgun,the pre-delay untextured model present in the HL2 gcfs. However,this texture is nowhere to be found in the original GCFs as the guy claims: I think it's beta material,do you?

I need some of you to try this: download both the Korin Gantz 1.5 and Korin Bikini 1.0 from this site: http://www11.plala.or.jp/nkinta/ and then convert their vtf files to check if we can have Bikini with the same outfit of Gantz. I hope somebody knows here how to convert vtfs to tga with vtex... We already have the permission to use Gantz,but it didn't work on combines (it was for assassins): now we have the chance to use it as Alyx

henkjan: hopefully there will be more after 1.0X The first expansion is Opposing Force (short),the second Blue Shift (very short). Also suggested are Azure Sheep and Poke646 (both italian made,like Substance),then They Hunger,Heart of Darkness and Timeline. These are the best for single player,DOD and CS are multi
 
man, i never realised how strong the H&k USP Match pistol was...
it is verry cool especially in bullet time
it aims verry cool and it has nice damage, fast reloading
and when u pick the weapon, it looks real cool too :)

I'm certain this is over my head but I'm trying it anyway to see what I can learn along the way. I've downloaded the Source SDK and the two models, but all I know to do with her is to replace the combine as you explained earlier. At first I only got an in-game error, now I've got her in the game but she doesn’t do much but stand there. (she does die well though :))
I have no clue how to replace Alyx with Korin however.
I assume you got that working and now want to see if we can get Korin with a bikini to run around as Alyx. Is that correct?
 
what does the cheat impulse 102 do?

I can't remember impulse 102,I know that impulse 101 gives you everything and impulse 12 turns the superggun on (in substance) and 13 off

i still think this mod is too easy
cause you only have to shoot ones on a combine's head( dunno what his name is but he's got a white head) and only 5 shots in his belly to kill em..
and a headcraft only needs 1 shot, is that not too easy? and i got it on hard mode, or is this a bug? and i can just go trouth everything without dieing.... only on some places i need to redo it. i noticed it the enemies do need more shots as you go verder in the game...

I was right. Totally over my head.
After doing some internet research, I still am no closer to knowing how to use vtex. Plus all the docs I've read where about converting tga to vtf's not the other way around.
Did have some minor success though.
I learned how to f with alyx and change her skin a couple of different ways.
Also I got bikini girl in the game as one of the rebels. (Female04 I think)
She's funny, running around all half naked killing combines. :)

people,don't be angry but until 1.X release I'm a little mayhem here and you've got to wait a little for me to answer you! The new levels with hounds,squids & assassins are really nice. No more complains about antlions in city17 ;D

EDIT
I'm dead,24 hours straight of editing :sleep: I've now redone all the savegames with squids,houndeyes and assassins. You'll like them,they add variety and mostly replace things you didn't like too much as antlions in City 17.

henkjan: harder sometimes because enemies last generally more time and need more ammo to waste them. But also simpler if you use the regen system,that works as in Max Payne: the bleeding under 30 is very slow,while the regen when you crouch is fast. And then there's the forms,that grant unlimited ammo in different combinations but nobody has ever commented yet if they make the game more easy or complicated...

and i just cant find out how to make the level where you get some kind of alien weapon that shoots green bolts. i went everywhere and just walked around for an hour but i just cant seem to find out where to go.
so will the 1.0X be finished within a week?
and how do i chance my time on this site?

henkjan: I answer everybody,it's just I'm really taken with the latest preparations for the 1.X (<---cooler name). The korin bikin,even is reskinned,really showed the bikini and just wasn't in the mood of the rest of the game. I even deleted some of the most funky skins (NOT the Alyx one!!!) for the mod to be more serious: so long to the scarab gunship and scarface gman. The 30 health thing is the open wounds system: have you ever played vietnam,max payne or metal gear solid 2? If you are low on health,you bleed to the death,but you crouch the health returns up (to 30). Check the full weapon lists below (taken from the readme)

primary fire hurts and disintegrates enemies,damage varies depending on the target's mass: zombie class enemies are the most exposed. Useful to finish enemies damaged by allies or previous ggun throws with a few hits,and a serial killer if you can get some...cars to smash them with. When the berserk mode breakpoint is hit,the weapon morphs into the super ggun for a short time: have fun,son.

SUPER GRAVITY GUN CQC
- primary fire: kill
- secondary fire: kill,shorter lenght
- ammo: unlimited
weaker and more close combat & hide oriented,best used in ambushes. Ammo is depleted very fast,always support it with another limited-ammo long range weapon as the M249 or Steyr Sniper Blaster.

BUGBAIT - NORMAL (firemode)
- primary fire: distraction,wider range
- secondary fire: doesn't work on large antlion packs
- ammo: unlimited
both a quest item and a decoy,hit combines and dispose of them calmly by yourself or sending your allies to them. Useful to later convert enemies safely with the Conversion Bugbait. Since large antlion packs are not responsive to the secondary fire,direct them with the primary one.

BUGBAIT - CONVERSION (firemode)
- primary fire: targets join your ranks and betray their former allies
- ammo: unlimited
nobody knows what this thing does exactly contain,however it works by converting *any* enemy on your cause while forgetting their own. Range is medium-short and ammo consumption is high,so think tactical: Solid Snake is advantage on this because of its bonus to bugbait ammo reloading,so welcome convertadins. See that strider?

BUGBAIT - SNARK (firemode)
- primary fire: spawns a snark (3 per clip)
- ammo: unlimited
not really a snark but a fast headcrab,spawn a little fella and it will distract the enemy long enough for you to sneak on him. Spawn ten little fellas and re-enact Attack of the Crab Monsters by Roger Corman. This weapon benefits from Solid Snake's bonuses that make its reload faster and the snark harder,so welcome to the Little Petshop of Horrors.

H&K USP PISTOL + ZOOM
- primary fire: 10 damage
- secondary fire: zoom
- ammo: pistol bullets
dangerous on cops,zombies and headcrabs and nothing else: go for headshots,use bullet time and exercise with tapping speed. Many names for this in the previous Substance versions: zoom / Halo / H&K Thors and Ank's USP... If you like this,consider upgrading to Solid Snake's MK23 Pistol.

HK MK 23 PISTOL SILENCED + ZOOM (Snake's pistol)
- primary fire: 18 damage
- secondary fire: zoom
- ammo: unlimited
stealthy and powerful. Precise Bullet Time stingy headshots are best for surprise attacks,while powerful tapping combos are devastating at short range - should you panic. A must for pistol aficionados!

IMI DESERT EAGLE .50AE
- primary fire (Gordon): 40 damage
- primary fire (Liquid): 50 damage
- primary fire (Snake): 35 damage
- primary fire (BigBoss): 30 damage
- ammo: eagle bullets
a weapon present in all the HEV Forms in slightly different shapes. Faster and deadlier than the old Colt 357. No weapon is so enhanced by bullet time: the choice of the specialists (also known as people that can aim).

STI FLARE PISTOL
- primary fire: kill,ricocheting flare
- secondary fire: splash napalm grenade
- ammo: crossbow bolts (unlimited - Big Boss' flaregun)
this sadistic weapon has been renewed from v0.84 and now shoots both simple flares and exploding grenades...of burning passion. The projectile are affected by gravity so count that in when you aim. Pretty hungry of the rarest ammo,but Big Boss's unlimited features is there for a reason. Needs practice to be used well,but once you do it's the apocalypse: found in Black Mesa East.

MP7 TMP SUBMACHINEGUN
- primary fire: 4 damage
- secondary fire: smg1 grenade
- ammo: submachine bullets
your standard smg1 returns in the place of the hated P90,weak and ammo hungry as always. This counterbalances the fact you can't phisically step in this game without picking one of these up. Anyway,pair a shotgun to this and you'll be invincible until you'll eventually die out of self-misery. If you like this,consider upgrading to Liquid Snake's M4A1 Combat Rifle.

M4A1 COMBAT RIFLE (Liquid Snake's MP7)
- primary fire: 6 damage enhanced precision
- secondary fire: smg1 grenade
- ammo: unlimited
Liquid's alternate MP7 is much more unforgiving and precise than the original. Good at any range too thanks to the extended bullet time (stop whistling the Max Payne theme,please),this loud weapon's ammo can be safely wasted everywhere you go thanks to it unlimitedness: happy deafness day.

HK-3 PULSE RIFLE
- primary fire: 8 damage
- secondary fire: combine energy ball
- ammo: plasma canister
a replacement for the original owerwatch standard issue,now with increased ammo stash and energetic fatality. Your choice when the TMP is not enough,especially on Gordon Form where the damage increased is the most notable compared i.e. to Liquid's nerfed version. If you like this weapon,consider upgrading it to Solid Snake's pulse rifle.

XM8 LOW PULSE RIFLE (Liquid's pulse rifle)
- primary fire: 7 damage
- secondary fire: combine energy ball
- ammo: plasma canister
compared to Liquid's pulse rifle's stats,this weapon is nothing more than a small upgrade. Anyway this is relative,since compared to Gordon's MP7 the damage output increase is +120%. It's a stylish and cruel weapon,to have some fun with after three hours of endless M4A1 shootouts.

EXPERIMENTAL SILENCED PULSE RIFLE (Snake's pulse rifle)
- primary fire: 10 damage
- secondary fire: combine energy ball
- ammo: plasma canister
Snake's only real machinegun features a major damage rate and extended ammo stash,rating it on the highest place among pulse rifles and definying it as the best choice for panic situations when sneaking around in the optical camouflage is no more an option. Makes you wish it to see it again in future co-op mods.

FN M249 PARA MACHINEGUN
- primary fire: 12 damage
- ammo: m249 ammo
this heavy machinegun is only found very far in the game,in the Follow Freeman substance chapter. Fast and deadly,it represents the definitive portable weapon against the combines,leaving you the scene for some big First Blood action through the flames of the sieged citadel. Be careful,it needs time to reload and its ammo are very hard to come by. Otherwise,enjoy the conclusive spitfire.

HEAVY M4A1 W/ SIGHT (Big Boss's M249)
- primary fire: 15 damage
- ammo: m249 ammo
Big Boss demanded a little more powerful M249 replacement for "personal use",and we gave him one. Same considerations mentioned before,just add +30% damage and a more vietnam-era look.

SPAS-12 SHOTGUN
- primary fire: 6x7 damage
- secondary fire: 6x12 (consumes 2)
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
your standard shotgun. Silverish and practical,it's an everyday weapon whose double shot is probably the best companion of the Gordon Freeman form beside the FN 2000 one. Less ammo hungry than the M3,yet not so dangerous on tight uncontrollable situations.

OLD SHOTGUN (Big Boss' shotgun)
- primary/secondary fire: 8x12 (consumes 2)
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
Big Boss' shotgun has no differentiations between primary and secondary fire,consuming 2 buckshots in both cases.

BENELLI M3 SUPER SHOTGUN
- primary fire: 6x16 (consumes 4)
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
a superior shotgun that packs +400% damage more than the normal shotgun on a very wide range: use it on enemies close to you or each other. Ammo consuming is +400% as well (it's some kind of magic,there can be only one...),so think well before going rambo. Don't be scared to run out on ammo,it's better than run out of life with your ammo stash full (a default of picky players). If you like this weapon,consider upgrading to Liquid's M3 Special super shotgun. Found right before the Sandtraps substance chapter.

M3 SPECIAL SUPER SHOTGUN (Liquid's M3)
- primary fire: 10x16 (consumes 4)
- ammo: unlimited
this weapon is a monster,even if still with the M3's distinctive annoying long reloading times. Couldn't you use the Liquid Snake's form,because it lacked shotguns? Now you have no more excuses.

SPAS-12 SPECIAL SUPER SHOTGUN (Big Boss' M3)
- primary fire: 8x16 (consumes 4)
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
this excessive weapon's damage counterbalances Big Boss' own poor primary shotgun,while still be limited on ammo. Not a good choice if you plan to use the M3 often,otherwise a deadly encounter. If you like this weapon,consider upgrading to Liquid's M3 Special super shotgun.

COLT M4 PATRIOT
- primary fire: 6x8
- secondary fire: zoom,precision enhanced
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
higly damaging,this weapon basically behaves like a fast shooting shotgun. In non-zoomed mode,it is built for assaults when you shoot running head to head against your enemy. In zoomed mode,precision is enhanced and you can go SWAT when entering a new area to kick some punks' ass on medium distance while still getting a one shot one kill ratio. Ammo used is the somewhat scarce shotgun buckshots,beware. Found inside the Nova Prospekt Prison substance chapter.

FN 2000 ASSAULT RIFLE (Big Boss' Colt M4 Patriot)
- primary fire: 8x8
- secondary fire: zoom,precision enhanced
- ammo: shotgun buckshots
Big Boss' higher weapons are all higher damaging copycats of the standard ones,and this makes no exception. Everything states about the normal FN2000 applies,with extra juice.

"HOLY TRINITY" CROSSBOW
- primary fire: kills and electrocutes
- secondary fire: zoom
- ammo: crossbow bolts (unlimited - Solid Snake's crossbow)
precise,deadly,silent and with a new creepy post-death electrocution effect. An elite weapon for people who can aim and are prepared to its unlimited use in the Solid Snake form.

STEYR SCOUT SNIPER BLASTER
- primary fire: kill (consumes 50)
- secondary fire: zoom (necessary to fire)
- ammo: submachine bullets
this disintegrating sniper blaster reloads 1 single dark matter unit by compressing together 50 other submachinegun bullets. The result is a projectile faster than light,untight to any physics unlike the crossbow bolts. Unlike the AWP,zooming is required to shoot: help yourself with the tactical grid on screen to aim better. "Burrowed" from the first sniper you meet. If you like this weapon,consider upgrading to Big Boss' AWP Sniper Blaster.

AWP SNIPER BLASTER
- primary fire: kill (consumes 25)
- secondary fire: zoom (with or without zoom)
- ammo: unlimited
an advanced superior sniper rifle can shoot two times before reloading,with or without zoom. A must for campers,needs superior aim to work effectively at shorter range.

GRENADE - COVENANT (firemode)
blue and sticks to targets,best used on tight groups.

GRENADE - NAPALM CLUSTER (firemode)
red with shorter defusing time,ignites multiple targets at once with a fountain of flames. Use it in unoccluded areas,or throw them in the sky above the enemy for a biblical punishment.

GRENADE - PROXIMITY HEADCRAB (firemode)
cleverly disguised as a plush headcrab,this is both a mine/slam and grenade capable to explode on impact when thrown directly at enemies. A must for traps: just don't get caught in the explosion yourself,since the disguise makes this weapon so heavy you can't send it flying a very long way out. Once you've tossed it,you can pick it up again with the use key.

DUAL RPG
- primary fire: guided rocket
- secondary fire: HL1 rocket
the RPG is easier to use with its new/retro secondary fire that turns the guidance system off,but be aware that it needs good aiming and will never hit a moving gunship. Best for stationary striders close to you,or to shoot a group of combines or fast zombies behind a corner and then take cover quickly.

ARMED AIRBOAT
- primary fire: heligun
- secondary fire: rocket
- ammo: autoreloading gauss energy
the airboats now have a secondary fire that shoots RPG rockets and depletes their autoreloading ammo stash very fast. Useful against striders,antlionguards or other hard enemies in the canals/beach levels.

ARMED JEEP
- primary fire: single gauss
- secondary fire: charged gauss
gauss damage power increased exponentially.
 
wow...xdiesp,you just don't stop!!

one thing I have noticed when using the HEV forms,sometimies I have to activate it twice before it works..other times I have to start with the Big Boss form otherwise I can't pick Solid or Liquid forms..

other than that I like the forms alot and I feel that they do enhance the game..as if you hadn't enhanced it enough!:)

waiting patiently(for now!! :p) for the next version!!
 
THC138: HL2 vanilla has 12 weapons,the v084 has 21 and the 1.X has 35. Although this is debatable,I'm sure that people will say the +14 number is boosted because those are just alternate versions of the usual old weapons: but I say,they do a different damage,look and sound different,they seem different... They are alternate because the forms have all their specific inventory:

- THE GORDON FREEMAN FORM
- health requirements: none;
- available weapons: all of them,but with no bonus;
- berserk gravity gun: use the ggun melee attack until the weapon overloads and turns into the superggun,then have fun;
- health regeneration system: if you drop below 30 health and start bleeding,crouch to stop it and regenerate your health quickly;

- THE LIQUID SNAKE FORM
- requirements: 60 health;
- available weapons: crowbar,normal ggun,bugbait,Liquid's Eagle,unlimited M4A1 combat rifle,XM8 Low-pulse rifle,M249 PARA heavy machinegun,unlimited Benelli M3 special,grenades and rpg;
- extended bullet time
- slow motion shootdodging when you jump

- THE SOLID SNAKE FORM
- requirements: 60;
- available weapons: M9 pro vorbis Knife,normal ggun,fast recharging bugbait,unlimited H&K MK 23 silenced pistol + zoom,M9 Beretta,experimental silenced pulse rifle,M249 PARA heavy machinegun,unlimited crossbow,grenades and rpg;
- sprint enhanced with stealth camouflage;
- speed,jumping and defence enhanced;

- THE BIG BOSS FORM
- requirements: 60 health;
- available weapons: crowbar,superior berserk ggun,bugbait,Big Boss' eagle,unlimited STI flare pistol,Heavy M4A1 w/sight,Oldie Shotgun,Spas-12 Special shotgun,FN 2000 Assault rifle,unlimited AWP sniper blaster,unlimited grenades and rpg;
- the AWP can fire with or without zoom,two times;
- health regeneration system activates in any moment when you crouch,up to 100 Health!
- berserk ggun is easier to obtain: it starts shooting from just 70 and below;

2 things are left to be implemented into the code. A parameter to attach to the load command and a simplification in the HEV Forms activation mechanism. That's all we got left to do!

I was finally able to change the origins of weapons,so due to popular demand,the FN 2000 and XM8 are swapped and you actually use the FN2000 to fire normally. And,this time the weapon on screen is more little,perfect!

honestly I play substance more than any other source game..it just gets better and better!!

I was wondering if it would be possible to have your squad not all turn on you for bad grenade tosses.. :angel:

like you hit 1 guy with 1 bullet he should shoot you one time and the others would do nothing to you unless you also shot them..just a thought :D

I like that you can shoot them and that they will return fire,but when using the AR2 secondary,sometimes it bounces a little crazy and 1 guy takes it for the team... :eek:

then the survivors slaughter me.. ;(

also sometimes I don't realize its my own team thats shooting me,not some combine that I missed.. ;)
 
THC138: this reminds me of when we lost the friendly fire code because one of the coders had gone rogue (!) and had to redid it all over again. The FF is now friendlier than before actually,in the 041 you could never even shoot a smg1 bullet at them that they went berserk on you. You're right that problems emerge from those situations you mentioned,but I consider them a necessary evil...

right after the 041 came out,a skinner complained A LOT that I had used and credited him one of his skins without his explicit *permission*: I had mailed him several times,but he didn't answer back. In that occasion I took it out at once,and from that moment I only used skins/models from people that either mailed me back an explicit permission or that just weren't reachable because they didn't provide any contact for you to reach them - with the reserve,of course,to rediscuss the permission should they show up. Now one of the modelers,the one that did the FN2000 (the much appreciated "beta weapon" now used as a machinegun) is acting very strange and takes back his permission. Tell me what to do because I don't know,I've spent a lot of time in recompiling,fixing and redo that weapon skin and I always been legit crediting him and such. Do I break any law if I redistribute his model in the mod,and credit him all his work? Oh my,I see the army of the noobs calling me thief coming...
