Halo 3

Are those plastic models?

Yes, it's a large scale diorama depicting a battle. It's very impressive. There's been a few trailers for it now, as well as a making of and a guided our via a flash internet page.

So my friend got this at a midnight release... and the next day, I talked to him and he had beat it on Legendary already.

So far, a few hours into the campaign...not very happy. I don't think I'm going to play it anymore. It's exactly what I was worried it would be. I may finish it eventually...but not anytime soon.

I'm just going to move onto why I bought it....mp.

So far, I'd rate the game in the high 8s, low 9s. After I get rolling in the MP, I assume I'll probably give it a 9.2 or something like that.

Multiplayer is the reason I bought it. I can't ****ing wait to get home... stupid Java class.

I gotta admit I absolutely love Halo 3! This game has brought Halo back its glory IMO. Halo 2 is nothing more than the past now.

Arbiter kills Master Chief in the end.

Actually I have no idea what happens, and I won't since it's not coming out for PC and it's not in development.

someone tell me the ending, I don't like Halo, played the first game. (only liked the flood)

Does the Master Chef die???? TELL MEH!?

yeah, master chef

some kid in my class was absent today because he beat it three times on medium, hard, and legendary.

I don't believe it at all.

Master Chief sacrifices himself to save both Covenent and Humanity.

It's obvious that he was going to die. After watching the commercials with marines speaking of their past experience, you can pretty much summarize that MC was either going to sacrifice himself or get killed.

He doesn't die.

TheAntipop's right.
Saw leak videos. PM me for the last words in the game. (Even after credits, as is usual with Bungie)

I really want this to come out for the PC! I actually almost got teary eyed watching what happens to our hero. He did so much and recieved no glory, no celebration, in fact nobody talked to him except for a computer AI. ;( BIG SPOILER: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cMcg7i6Ensg You never get to see his face too. Just stuck on some (other maybe) universe or who knows where. There is hope though for you Halo fans! If you beat legendary you get to see more footage of a possible new Halo teleporting you (unknown amount of time passed): http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezd3uAiN6uA

okay, if he doesn't really die, what happens. Someone explain.

Yes please. In Halo you were some awesome character who owned everything and blew up a giant ring. Then Halo 2 introduced an actual story that didn't make sense at all. They want you to read the books but frankly, I don't think it will help much.

soooooooooooo
for those of you that have it
how do you like it so far?
how's the 4-player co-op? and the MP?

Co-op is awesome. It can get pretty laggy but I blame my shit-tastic router.

Multiplayer would be amazing if it weren't for the legion of assholes that make up the majority of the Halo 3 community. All I can say is that I'm thankful for Xbox Live's feedback feature and Halo 3's ability to mute individual players.

The asses in the Halo 2 multiplayer community is eventually what deprived me of my last desire to play it. Good to hear you can mute players.

I've only played single player solo so far, but it is amazing. God, this is everything I've ever wanted out of a halo game.

A few of us just went over to our friends car and had a look in his boot - it's literally FULL of Halo 3 merch. The new 360, a Halo controller, several models/figures, a Halo headset, the guide and the Limited Edition Helmet box of Halo, which comes in a really impressive looking packaging. As we were there my other mate called home to hear that he too has got a copy in the mail, so that's two down so far. I'm off to town during 5th lesson, can't wait. Getting through the next 3 lessons is going to suck.

Stig, you should play it with a load of friends sometime. If theres space, you're more than welcome to join me and my mates games, just as long as you don't start raving on about British people they shouldn't retaliate. :p

"Wait, so you guys have the internet nowadays?"

:p

I watched you (Stig) and Amish last night on my friends list playing..... I was actually a wee bit annoyed that the U.K. had to wait that extra day (I want ot join the festivities).

Got it now tho. :D

If anyone wants to play sometime, shoot me an invite, my XBOX gamertag is: Chip McDougal

Add me if you want to play! Gamertag BadHat54.

Also, check out my filmshare for some short but sweet clips of some of my exploits so far. Goddamn the replay editor is fun to mess around with :D

Does the Master Chef die???? TELL MEH!?
Meaty spoilers below, don't read if you don't want to know the ending in detail:
Basically a bunch of shit happens about saving earth and defeating the covenant (bar the elites who're on your side) and the flood, who're BASTARDS AND SHOULD RIGHTFULLY BE WIPED OFF THE FACE OF THE ****ING UNIVERSE. Ahem. So you end up on Halo (one of them), and arm it to fire a tactical burst to take out the last of the flood (I guess). However doing this will also blow up the ring itself, since it's unfinished. The last level is, in true Master Chef (sic) fashion, a dramatic escape scene wherein you jump a warthog across a chasm into a previously crash-landed frigate and "punch it". The ring blows with Mr. Chief still in close vicinity, seemingly obliterating him in the process. Cut to a scene with the Arbiter (who was on the same ship but a slightly different section... Lost anyone?) crash landing into the ocean and then a touching hill-top memorial for all the dead characters, including Master Chief. "I can't believe he's dead", says the stereotypical 80-year-old decorated war hero dude. "If it were so simple", replies the Arbiter (hint mother****ing hint).

-- CREDITS ROLL --

So if you have an ounce of patience you'll have waited past the credits to get to the real ending, if not stop reading and go watch it again. Master Chief is, of course, still well and alive, and floating in space in the other section of the aforementioned frigate (I think it got sent through a portal or something... wasn't too clear on that part, feel free to shed some light on that if you know any more than I do). His computerised companion, Cortana (who you spend the better part of the game trying to rescue... AND NO HOOK UP SCENE (don't ask me how it's possible, but you know you wanted it anyway)), sends out a distress signal, but says it may be years until anyone finds them. Chief hops into a stasis chamber type thingy (just like the one you first emerge from in Halo 1), and tells Cortana to "wake him when he's needed". She says "I'll miss you" and looks on sorrowfully as he closes the hatch (Chief you heartless cad!!), and then it fades to black.

THE MOTHER****ING END.
Oh, for those who've finished it on legendary, is there any extra footage at the end? Like the little bit you get with sergeant whatsisface at the end of the first one.

Edit - Wait wait wait... I just read what I quoted zombieturtle as saying properly. Let me get this straight. Of everything in the first Halo... you only liked the flood? As opposed to everything else?

D:

Weirdo.

Zombieturtle: wtf flood (though I loved fighting the flood in Halo 1)

Tyguy: added

Badhat: added

Antipop: what's your gamertag? I know I have you added already... I'm going to randomly guess it's Beskhu3epnm.

[edit] And on a completely unrelated note - what the hell? For some reason I'm all of a sudden unable to sound out "flood" properly in my mind. I'm reading it as if it was "flew'd". Stupid buggy phonetics.

People have ALREADY finished it on legendary? WTF?
I'm going to be playing it solo today, and.. 'hopefully' getting on xbox live on saturday, and, if not, the saturday after. I'm going to be playing with some of my friends.

How can someone beat it on legendary??? I just played throurgh the whole thing last night on normal and died like 1000 times and im pretty darn good at fps game. Freaking nerds!

All I can say is: Forge is ****ing WIN.

More later!

EDIT: Yeah I'm Beskhu3epnm. We should all get a game going together. :D

how about a game at 10:30 EST? or is that too late...

Well Antipop and a bunch of others live in the UK, so that'd be roughly 3:30 in the morning for them :p And I have work from 5-11 EST tonight.

Maybe tomorrow between 4 and 9 EST (I have work from 10-2am -_- )? That'd be early enough for the Brits.

[edit] Actually I'm leaving programming early so I can drop my laptop off at home before going to work, so I'd be free for a game between 3 and 4:15 today as well :D

I finished it on Legendary earlier today. It looks like there's one more little clip after what you already said in your spoiler tag.

A scene in space fades in, panning down to the ripped off piece of hull MC and Cortana are in and a silhouetted planet in the background. A bright sun comes around the edge of the planet, lighting it up as a scary chior strikes up. The planet looks forerunner-ish, a network of what looks like metal and whatnot. I'm guessing/praying it's Onyx (a planet remaining Spartan II's and III's are taking cover in - from the book Ghosts of Onyx) or it could be a covenant world (maybe the Elite home-world since that was mentioned for the first time just at the end of the game.

EDIT: BTW, the 8th level is one of the worst levels I've ever played in a game. It wasn't remotely fun and ridiculously hard on Legendary. Enjoy.

Comments about the ending level:
Was anybody else disappointed that the final level had nothing to do with MC getting captured on purpose let alone defending humanity on Earth? I could've done with a countdown to make the ending feel more intense like Halo 1 had.

Man, Halo 3 on heroic is sweet. Just my kinda challenge. I havent gotten a chance to play all that much, so Im only on the third level.

Beat it on legendary with 4 buddy's last night it was savage!

wow, so many kids sleeping during class yesterday because of this, rofl.

Theatre mode is so ****ing awesome! Any game after Halo 3 that doesnt include something similar automatically fails.

So far i've been playing the single player on heroic and 4-player co-op on legendary - both have been soooo much fun. It's save to say that i've had more fun playing Halo 3 than any other shooter this year.

Warbie, honestly now, did you expect to be saying any other shooter is better than a Halo game this year :p?

The Orange Box will easily give Halo 3 a run for its money, but that's neither here nor there - Halo 3 is awesome :p

I thought the Campaign was pretty damn solid. Much better than Halo 2.
