How do you think physics will affect gameplay in CS:S

I know this is more to do with counter-strike than HL2, but essentially they are the same thing.

Whilst watching you Korean vids of CS:S I didnt expect so many objects to be physically simulated. Alot has been done in CS when it comes to tactics, but what else could be done with this onjects within the levels to enhance this?

I was thinking that you could possibly roll barrels up a long A on dust2 and sneak along crouched behind them. Could you also push things off walls to cause a distraction one way and attack another? (Kind of the like the HeaToN smoke grenade trick). Or pushing out a barrel from a wall that causes an awper to take a shot, and in doing so gives you time to cross a vital open space before he reloads.

Anyone else considered other things that could be done tactics wise whilst playing cs/other multiplayer mods?

Since the conservative CS-Community doesn't want any big changes concerning the gameplay, they won't make use of all the new engine features. At least that's what i fear ......

still there will be some small tricks (like the barrel trick you described)
 
As long as they fix the "being shot through a 4 fot thick stone pillar wall" problem I'll be happy.
 
neg, they wont fix that, at least that's not what i was told

and that's definitely a good thing...otherwise it wouldnt be cs....spamming through walls and things is key
 
You can probably boost on the non-simulated objects..and on each other's heads possibly...but w/e..

I think the physics will improve gameplay a bit...

yeah your right it isn't CS --- it will be CS:Source so fix the dam walls ! :flame:

and btw: spamming though wallls is not skillfull - just stupid ;)
 
i think the physics will be more to play around with for fun, then change gameplay a lot i think
 
the source engine will give the players loads of new possibilites on old maps. wee, im excited :)

im very interested in the effect that the physics engine will have on the actual ingame-feeling of cs:s... we'll see!
 
My money says things will change not one bit basically.

As in the CS source bink what will happen is that you'll see people will always chuck grenades at barrels to scatter them & stop them being used as cover, and that'll be about it.

Unless the barrells are going to be more use as cover than the aforementioned 4 ft walls of concrete (unlikely if they're not fixing the material penetration values, plain retarded if they are) then rolling them along and hiding behind them, whilst a great idea, will just get you shot. Shame really.
