yeh. stereotypes as followed:

japan: kung fu specialists. loving thier noodles and chop sticks.
canada: ice hockey manicas having fights
france: snail, breadstick and frog eaters, loads of mimes and stripey black and white tops.

your right stern. ;)

I just imagine it as a typical European city... old, stately architecture. Double decker buses. And police cars that make the wrong sound.

and as to saying things wrong - we were here first, if one of our countries does speak 'wrong', it's yours.

For your information, America was here first. The British insurgents fought to create their own country overseas in the Revolutionary War. Most sources suggest that the conflict began as a bar fight over the proper placement of the letter u. In the end, we let them win so we wouldn't have to put up with their terrible mutilations of the English language on our own soil.

it is a steroetype though ..although disporportionate in comparison to say a third world country

hehe there's an episode of the simpsons where lisa goes to a dentist who's just a little bit of a joseph menegala ..he scares the kids into brushing their teeth by showing them "The Big British book of smiles"

doesnt mean it's true

Yeah, I know, but its the amount of angst and anger the American Live players put into saying it as if we should be offended by such a petty remark.

Kung Fu is generally used to group all the Chinese martial arts together under 1 name, you have Wu Shu, Shaolin, Wutan, Wing Chun, etc.

I wanna move to the UK when I turn 18, I've already begun to familiarize myself with the slang (I say knackered and shit) and the television (Top Gear addict, watched all the Simon Pegg/Nick Frost stuff, some Coogan, got a load of "Have I Got News For You")

london IMO is one of the most multiculteral places in the world.

is that a bad thing.. or a good thing?

YOU decide.

good, and it's not just an opinion, statistic show it is the MOST multicultural city in the world. HOORAY! i like to think i contribute in some small way: huzzah! ilegitimate immigrant spawn!

No girls on the internet, etc.

....fair enough... weirdly i have a friend called john steed. he's a model maker.

i love london, i have to go and live in shithole bournemouth for three years. sigh... but i can get a special book-ahead train service back to london for a quid! amazing! anyone wanna come to the next bang face? it's the third birthday! http://www.bangface.com/

Basically, if the yanks think the Brits are just pompous gents with dodgey accents then it backs up the argument of them knowing nothing about the world accept America itself and Iraq. Sorry to sterotype but really thats what you are doing to us. We have MANY different accents here, some are funny, some or just god damn annoying. Just think about your different states and the many different acents over the US, and generally think have how the children, the teenagers and the adults behave in the US, and you will get a clear picture of what its like over here, we are more alike than a lot of people think.

it seems to me that cherry doesn't understand the concept of humor or sarcasm via the internet, so i suggest everyone dumbs down their replies to a general haze of seriousness so she doesn't start another argument...

just look around you, ramp up the IQ a bit and you'll get a good picture :p

Edit, what are you referring to solace?

I went once while very young, I can't really remember it. All I remember is that big ferris wheel and the double-decker busses.

I think I should head over to the UK sometime soon, but mostly I've only been to central Europe (like germany and austria and the netherlands). My sister, however, recentley took a tour of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

She was pretty happy about that...since she met a lovely irish friend. The only thing she said about london was that it was, "clean, crowded and pretty"

Generally, my steryotype of english folk is that they are lighthearted, learned and funny.

I think I've been watching too much monty python :(

EDIT: and to the bad teeth, while in Europe most of the teeth I saw were pretty good, except for perhaps a few older people. However, I saw an overabundance of people needing braces.

We all know you're a guy, the game is up. Move away from this subject already.

I see canada's not there, awesome.
WTF is canada?
And whats that huge island doing in that picture!

Why isn't that picture to scale? The U.S.A. should be 100x bigger!

ya but man ...there's just so much you could throw back in their face ;)

I don't know. Is canada a good place to live or isn't it?
Consider Vancouver is the number one rated city in the world and a few other canadian cities rank in the top 15.

Yea, I'd say it is a nice place to live.

Rated by who?

Unless the poll was:

I don't believe it. I won't believe it.

un-offtopic: I consider London a place where people are bored out of their minds, eating tea and drinking crumpets all day. Also monty pithon, with all the kings and coconut horse clomps. Anyway, I think london would blow a big fat goat ball sack to live in. ( I read that they now have cameras that talk to you on the street. Fags._

London is expensive. I know a fella who says he has to commute there for work, and it costs him a shit ton of money.

And am I the only one getting sick of Stern posting his maps? Get a new ****ing joke for ****s sake.

ok, the last comment aside, we do not have cameras that talk to you on the street, what on earth are you talking about?

also, yes we drink tea, but i haven't had a crumpet since i was little. if you want them you can buy them. and boring? london is the center of music in the world, it's the most multi cultural city, one of the biggest ones. we have huge clubs, thousands of bars, restaurants etc. the southbank of the river is home to the national theater, the national film theater, the london eye. the 50th BFI london film festival is about to begin. i don't beleive that you really think london would be a bad place to live, you seem angry actually, your post is very hostile. you're jealous aren't you? :p

The German stereotype is missing here! :(

London sucks. But then, I have lived here my whole life so I could well be biased. The towns orbiting London are just so much nicer. Much of London is run-down, depressing, stifling and no matter where you are, it's extremely expensive.
Also, the wonderful effects of this joyous "multiculturalism" are unfortunately very obvious in some areas. Even with groups of schoolkids walking around, you've got black kids hanging around with black kids, white kids hanging around with white kids, Sri Lankan kids hanging around with Sri Lankan kids...it sure wasn't segregated like that when I was at school. WTF has been going on lately?
I don't see why people love London so much...on anything other than a tourist level. It might be the most important city in the world, but it ain't that nice to live in. There are a few nice areas, but they're obscenely expensive. I'm tempted to get a place in Reading or Twyford or somewhere like that and commute.

i've never witnessed this segregation you speak of, where do you live in london?

Stanmore. It's near Harrow & Wealdstone.
It's most noticeable in places like Harrow, Wembley, Willesden, Clapham, etc. People tend to stay in their ethnic groups.
