Is your comp ready for HL2?

P3 866mhz
512 sdram
64mb drr ge3
120gig hd's

yea im back years and i know it. just want you guys with better comps to feel even better about them.... your all going down when i get my new one so watch your backs! ;-p

It's not THAT bad stone. Just the processor and vid card really.

The 9500Pro is difficult to find and ATi is replacing it with the R9600Pro.

Anyway, you can still find 9700np at a good price and now there're the 9800np models too ;)

It sure is...

And I have to say this before I post my specs... Benchmarks mean nothing. They can be cheated at. Both ATI and nVidia did it with their drivers remember?

Antec Case, they don't make them anymore. 3 5.5 Bays, 2 3.5 bays.(About 2 Years old, I have painted it Black and Red)
4 80mm Case Fans, and a Vantec Nexus Fan Controller for them.
Antec 550 Watt True Power PSU
AMD 3000+ Barton, SLK 800(A) Heatsink, and an 80mm Fan.
1 gig 3200 DDR, Corsair Twin X
Radeon 9800 Pro (128)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo, nForce 2 chipset.
80 Gig 7200 RPM WD 8MB Cache
80 Gig 7200 RPM Seagate
52x Sony CD Rom
20x12x48 Yamaha CD-R/RW
Sony Floppy Drive
Black NEC 19' FE991SB *Flat Screen*
Logitech Elite Keyboard
Logitech MX500 mouse
Logitech Z-560 Speakers (4.1), I am using onboard sound from the mobo right now, before I upgraded 3 months ago I had an audigy gamer, but the drivers for it sucked so I am currently not sure if I want a new soundcard or stick with the mobo sound.
Generic Microphone
Cable Internet Connection, Its like 3000 kbps down, and 1500 kbps up.

This is the first time I have ever posted so many specs for my system. haha :(

I just ordered a new computer. It is your god.

Specs: P4 3MGz 800fsb, Radeon 9800 Pro, 1GB RAM, 120 GB Hard drive.

:afro:

hmm i think my P4 1.6 with 640Sd Ram and geforce fx 5200 128 mb should barely make it? think so?

oh yeah and im just wondering...how do you get the money to buy this stuff? your parents?

Yay I'm still on top. :p I wanna see Valved-Rays specs though, he allegedly is faster than me.

Haha Still on top?

And No I steal the money... Jeez!

Mine's just as good as your's in all areas, and my hard drive is 40GB bigger.

:afro:

i need a job this ty people..... see what you have me saying!

It would be cool to Raid those WD 10k RPM drives. If they weren't like 300 bucks each and only 30 gigs or something... lol.

Haha you guy's have P4's lol. :bounce:

Sorry, forgot to say two of them. :)

Also, my radeon is 256mb saphire(SP?)

Wow you wasted your money on that 256... No game is going to use that much. Probably not for another few years. But it's saphire so maybe it was cheaper...

GLMinorThreat, he did not waste money.

csmighty, unfortunately, the 5200 is slow and the 5200U is as slow (and sometimes even slower) as a GF4MX440 (a slightly overclocked GF2 Ultra).
The DX9 part of the 5200 is really too slow to be used in current and future tests/games.
OK entry level card for the game...

Oh? He did.

Either way it doesn't really matter. As long as it runs the games coming out in the next 6 months.

AMD ATHLON XP 2600+ Barton 400MHz FSB
(I wanted an asus but went with fic)
Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256MB
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer 2
10000 rpm 60gig hd on raid
10000 rpm 60gig hd on raid
58X cdrom
52X32X58 CD/DVD Rewriter
1 Gig DDR 3200

Why do so many people have Equilbrium Avatars?

And how much were your 2 HD's?

The 256 isn't a waste, it saves my ass a lot of money in the long run, when games and progs start using 256, i wont have a care in the world about upgrading, not to mention, the 256 definately doesn't hurt when the game gets intense and alot of action is going on, ill be running nice and smooth, compared to the chance of choppyness(sp?) with a 128

Yeah because that will always happen. Because the game is out and you know how it will run. :| Dynamic LOD ring a bell? Yeah you can turn it off....

Tbh i think those people who are buying their new PCs right now are a litle bit silly

no offence meant

But there is a while yet before half life2 + they said they would release graphical updates over steam so i would want the very best i could possibly get just before i buy the game that way i can keep up with the updates for at least a while!

just my thoughts

Dell motherboard with
P4 1.4 Ghz
640 mb 600mhz Rambus
Radeon 7200 64mb

Yeah I know it will probably run HL2, but not how I want it to. Does anybody know what the best processor I can get for my Dell motherboard? I'm not sure if if just has to be socket 478 or what. I'm assuming that I'll get f***ed by the system bus speed.

I will get a Radeon 9800pro 256 by september 30. Or who knows, something better might be out by then.

AMD Athlon 850mhz

Soon I'm getting a P4 2600 with a Radeon 9700 pro and 512 ddram corsair, for free :D

i need to upgrade my GFX card badly

P4 2.53ghz
512RD RAM
Geforce 4 MX 420

and no, that is not a misprint on my RAM, it is RD ram, so very rare now days, even though it is fatser then DDR ram, but not DDRII, or so ive been told.

Mines not ready for what I want it to Run.

So here is what Ill have after the upgrades:

Soyo Dragon 2 Platinum
Intel P4 3.0GHz (HT/800MHzFSB) <---overclocked to 3.2Ghz(at least)
ATI Radeon 9800Pro(128MB)
1024MB DDR333(I might upgrade to DDR400 if I have enough money)
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
120GB Harddrive (8MB Cache 7200RPM)
100GB Harddrive (8MB Cache 7200RPM)
Sony DRU-500A DVD+-RW/CD-RW
Generic DVD-ROM
Cable Internet connection

I think that will run HL2 just fine after the ugrades. Im only ugrading the Mobo, the CPU, and the Video Card. But I have to pay for college too, so I can only buy 1 item each paycheck:(

http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20020501/ DDR400 is faster than RDRAM. RDRAM was the "performance RAM" for the P4, but Intel abadonned that in favor of DDR400.
