Ok first of all our gamestop here in Vernon Hills Illinois, was the only store to have it in the entire state. All i can say is I didnt like it at all , i really dont have much to say. The display it was on was actually more appealing than the actual console itself. The game that was in the wii was a racing game with trucks , i dont recall the name but whatever. Graphics wise well it didnt have any . Just picture a game cube game in HD i guess, i wasnt impressed. I am a graphics person so thats why i guess i didnt like it. Controller was cool though and very lightweight. Man its so small to you can fit it in your pocket. This is probably the worst review ever lol.

I just didnt feel what everone there was feeling. I was the only one there that was not impressed. Personally i think the Wii is only for younger audiences. Most of everyone there was like 14 anyways.

The Wii is Rated E for Everyone but me.

Haven't gotten to try it yet, but while I was at EB games which is about 4 blocks away from me, they were setting the Wii up while I was in the store. They had started it up with a game, but didn't put the controllers out, and I wasn't going to wait forever to try to play first.

Seemed like the employees were being bitches about letting us play.

I know what game your talking about, didn't sound appealing to me either. I'd come back to the display when they have some other game on that might be more appealing. If you found the controller cool and neat, then maybe it was the game that was bad. Maybe a better game will meet your expectations a little more.

Also this seems to be a review more towards the game and not the Wii itself. The Wii can pull off some fantasic graphics, and you really liked the controller. The game however was the failure.

If your going to review the Wii itself you should state the poor graphics, but also talk about how responsive the controller is and everything else that goes along with the Wii.

My local GS will have theirs up and running in a few days tops. I hope they have more than just Excite Truck. I was hoping to try out Wii Sports. Seems like that'd be the better candidate for a kiosk than Excite Truck.

wii already know the wii has wiiak graphiics.

The gfx are still better than GC. And so what if it dosent support HD.
*shrug*

Twilight Princess supports 16:9 and thats all that matters.

after reading the first 2 sentences that you wrote I knew I couldnt take your opinion to heart. anyways maybe a shimmering graphic game is what u need with shit gameplay and you will be right at home.

Different story if it was Twilight Princess on display.

I'm not excited about the Wii yet, but I'm still buying it for Zelda.

Haha. Only funny cause I know the original picture ;)

Get it for Gamecube. The graphics are the same on either (bar 16:9 support) and the control doesn't seem to make a world of difference. Personally I'm still skeptical about how swordplay will feel with the remote...

16:9 is a pretty big deal if you have a widescreen set. I'm quite looking forward to the new controls, but would be getting on the Wii just to avoid borders or a stretched image.

Zelda: Twilight Princess
Red Steal
Super Monkey Ball

In my opinion these are solid release titles. Within 1 month of its release Super Mario Galaxy will also be released. Thats a lot of good gaming so early on. I can't wait :D

Also, I get the feeling alot of people here seem to think like this -

Good graphics =/= bad gameplay, and vice versa

Actually:

Wario Ware - Before Christmas
Excite Truck - Before Christmas if you're lucky. If not, end of Jan, early Feb.
Metroid Prime - March-ish.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl - April/May
Super Mario Galaxy - Pencilled in for Q2 so I'd guess at October if Nintendo are anything to go by.

EDIT: Doesn't need its own thread, but the new circles say Wii is going to use a predictive text system similar to mobile phones for typing. This'll make it easier to type messages on forums and letters in Animal Crossing. EDIT of EDIT: The predictive text also includes predictive handwriting with the Wiimote. Should be interesting.

EDIT2: Sorry to hear thread starter didn't like the Wii, but as he said, he's the only one who didn't.

don't judge a game by its graphics, or lack thereof. I still play the old Half Life game and it's as fun as always

What are the Wii's launch titles?

I thought Super Smash Bros Brawl was one of them... D:

Not a bad line-up I guess.
Red Steel looks interesting...

Are the oldies going to be available on launch?

The Virtual Console? There are about 15-20 I think and Nintendo plan to release I think about 5-10 every month. (1-2 for each console)

NES Games (500 Wii Points)

* Mario Bros.: Mario and Luigi punch turtles.
* The Legend of Zelda: The original Hyrulean adventure.
* Donkey Kong: The game that put Nintendo on the map.
* Donkey Kong Jr.: Not quite a classic, but its cameo in Yoshi's Island DS is pretty boss.
* Ice Hockey: Fat guy, normal guy and skinny guy hit the ice.
* Pinball: Mario moonlights as a paddle in this one.
* Soccer: Another early NES sports title. About soccer!
* Tennis: Simple but effective volley action.
* Urban Champion: An early, and not particularly good, brawler.
* Wario's Woods: A falling-block puzzle game starring Wario.
* Baseball: Yet another early NES sports game.
* Solomon's Key: A surprisingly difficult puzzle-action game.

SNES Games (800 Wii Points)

* F-Zero: A futuristic racer that reinvented the genre.
* SimCity: Make your city awesome and you'll get a statue of Mario!

N64 Games (1000 Wii Points)

* Super Mario 64: The template for 3D platform gaming.

Genesis Games (800 Wii Points)

* Sonic the Hedgehog: Spiky guy, attitude, goes fast. You know this one.
* Altered Beast: This bestial brawler will make you wise fwom your gwave!
* Golden Axe: One of the best multiplayer brawlers ever made.
* Columns: Before Bejeweled, there was Columns.
* Ecco the Dolphin: Save the ocean in this beautiful (but difficult) adventure.
* Gunstar Heroes: The action/shooter/platformer/brawler that made Treasure a hardcore fave.
* Space Harrier II: A fast-paced shooter featuring super-scaler action!
* Toe Jam & Earl: A funky and oddly mellow adventure.
* Ristar: Sega's less popular 16-bit mascot.
* Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine: (Psst, it's actually Puyo Pop.)

TurboGrafx 16 Games (600 Wii Points)

* Bonk's Adventure: Carnivorous caveman antics.
* Super Star Soldier: Superlative space shooting.
* Victory Run: Slick racing action.
* Bomberman '93: Explosive multiplayer mayhem.
* Dungeon Explorer: Classic RPG combat.

Super Mario 64: The template for 3D platform gaming.
Which sucks. Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Conkers. I can't stand that type of game. Give me a first or third person shooter if you want to give me a 3D game. I don't like 3D games where you have to walk up and down trying to discover every single square meter finding the goddamn coins.

Sweet, but what the hell are Wii points? :|...

Actually, I'll stop bothering you and look it all up on my own. :p
Wow, This site pretty much tells you everything you need to know. o_o

Umm... right. Majority of platform games are more deep than the majority of FPS games. Only the worst platformers require pure collecting. In fact, Mario 64 is the only game I can happily run and jump around for an hour without doing anything else and still be happy at the end to do something else.

but then you accidentally fall off a ledge into an abyss because it's so hard to get Mario to move in the direction you want him to move. then you have to start all over again. Give me 2D mario anytime.

I still play Mario 64. And no you don't need to collect every single coin. It's a damn fun game Mario is just so relaxing and is fun. You jump, do a triple jump, maybe fly a little, shoot yourself out of a cannon, ride a turtles shell on some lava while listening to the sweet music, Throw bowser onto some spikes, run up some stairs that never end cuz u don't got the stars... etc... Hell take a swim and kill some spiders!

I don't think we're playing the same game :)

Mario 64 is still the best example of analogue movement done right. The precise control you can have over the little sod is frightening at times - just running around is a joy, every slight movement of your thumb translated perfectly into the game. It's one of the few games that's made me sit back and think 'wow'.
