Jade Empire XBOX... 9.9 on IGN

I expect IGNXBOX felt left out what with RE4 and GoW scoring very high recently.

Of course I made that up but it wouldn't suprise me.

Picked up the game and am about 5 or 6 hours into it (doing most sidequests I can find) and I really enjoy the game. Gotta be the best RPG for Xbox (blows away Fable and is simply beyond where bioware was at the time of Kotor) and is visually beautiful, not just graphically but the areas have so much though and detail to them (The Heaven level is my favorite so far). As far as gameplay goes, it's really really diverse, for having only 2 basic attack and a block I was thinking it would be almost hack and slash, but I assure you, it's not. There are SO many fighting styles, magicals styles, transformation styles, weapon styles, and support styles that the possibilities are endless. You can set an enemy up by slowing him down with "Heavenly Wave" freeze him with "Ice Shard" steal his chi (used for magic and more powerful attacks) then finish him off with any of the weapon styles you have. With different enemies having immunities and weaknesses, you MUST vary your gameplay. The plot so far is interesting and there is a rich backstory. I really recommend this game to ANY RPG fan, and anyone who wants to check out a good RPG on Xbox (its the best by far). Its the first game I've bought since Halo 2, and I'm glad I did it.

EDIT I experienced my first camera problem (bout 5 hours in), but it wasn't bad

after reading the various reviews of Jade Empire I think from now on I'll take IGN reviews with a big grain of salt ...QUOTE]

I pretty much stop taking IGN seriously after the infamous mgriddle whore out incident.

...but IGN isn't the only one, nonono. I've been noticing a lot of Magazines and such just handing out 10's left and right. Whatever happened to the days when perfect scores were rare and special? Now, just flip open any magazine and you'll see bold headlines consisting of "BEST GAME EVER!" or "11 STARS THIS GAME 0WNZ YOUR SOUL!"

*SIGH*

beat it :p

took less than 20 hours (on normal) and i felt i did a large majority of side quests. I want to play it again (as opposed to even Kotor) . Had a few camera issues and some campy dialogue, but overall a phenomenal game, definatly best RPG on xbox.

I'm about 16/17 hours in, I've done most if not all the sidequests I can and I've...

Just reached Dirge and met Abbot Song.

From what kmack says, I think I must be most of the way through. I've never been this engrossed in an RPG ever, it's simply brilliant.

Zerimski- I'm sure you and your evil hordes live only to taunt Bioware fanatics like myself- those that are too poor/too stubborn to get an Xbox for JE.

Although rest assured if it appeared on PC I'd buy it. At full price. Instantly.

You hear me? That'd mean £35 in your pocket. You know you want to do it!

Dialogue in RPGs always tends to be... well, camp. That is the best way of describing it. Still love 'em mind...

Reviving this thread so I can comment on it now that I have it.

I just started the game and I'm like 2-3 hours in. I chose Furious Ming as my character. I've been leveling up the Thousand Cuts style, but I'm unsure whether I should keep upgrading it or not. I like to use it, but I'm wondering if it'll become obsolete sometime or if I get another style that'll carry the upgrades over or something.

Combat is cool so far and I can only see it getting more and more strategic and complex. There is a basic attack button, power attack button (charge time and it breaks through guars), guard button (also evades when you press a direction), jump button, heal button, focus (slows time down - helpful but drains focus quite quickly - good for when you're in a bind), chi attack button (turning this on uses chi for each attack (like mana) but strengthens each hit.

You have a follower a lot of the time, you can have this follower on attack mode or support mode. Each follower has their own set of attack moves and each follower does something different in their support role. I like having Dawn Star on support, she evades enemies and just meditates, giving me increased chi regen so I can use chi attacks the majority of the time.

I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations. I'm going a focus build primarily, what style do you think I should upgrade or do you think I should save some points for a cool style I get later?

I dont like martial arts. Reallistically it would not be useful against a guy with a sword.

But if it is portet to PC I will buy it simply becouse Bioware tends to deliver good roleplaying oppurtunitys (only the campaign in NWN was the exception, the expansions did this very well though).

Excuse me if I spell like retarded bunny on crack at the moment, I have had to much water (NO alchohol)...
