I dont understand his logic. The only ones who would buy it are die hard fans, but they already own them. You can play the files without even launching the game, and you can find them all on youtube in HD.

Nobody in their right mind would pay for something like this.

Has anyone ever told this dolt Kotick that you can watch many in-game cinematic movies for free on Youtube? I *really* can't see many people willing to waste their money on DVDs (or downloadable files) that merely contain in-game cinematics. They *complement* the story in the game, and they wouldn't work as their own movie.

This man's appetite for money knows no bounds.

It should be free - it's ridiculous, but I guess it wouldn't be unreasonable if it was a dollar or two, or required you to sign up to some free membership to Activision community or mailing list or something.

But $30? That's so outrageous it boggles the mind. You probably wouldn't have to pay that much for a new BluRay movie - and that includes the expensive discs, the movie, special features, and all of the nice packaging. This is just a ****ing download of a in-game cutscenes.

This is hilarious.
 
Okay just to clarify, what I understand from the article is not that you'd have to pay to get see the cutscenes in the game, but for those who aren't into games for example or those who want it, they'd take the cutscenes, edit them and sell them as a feature-length film outside of the game.

Those who buy the game would still get the cutscenes free.

I can understand them wanting to try to make money off selling cutscenes-only films as an extra for those who don't want the game etc but honestly, I doubt there's any substantial market for it.

So once again, what I understand it's not that they're saying "We're gonna sell you the game, then make you pay extra to get see cutscenes in your game."

Still a ridiculously retarded idea though.
 
I guess i could see some market for it albeit limited e.g. people who appreciate blizzards work but maybe arent into starcraft or warcraft

but even if you get to keep it and its in HD and all that $30 is still an obscene amount of money

idk its certainly feasible i'd say.

Starcraft and Warcraft are both absolutely huge and blizzard is always known as the pixar of the video game industry and quite frankly their cinematics and story are the main reason i play their games (and i'm typically not into rts and dungeon crawling rpgs).

I'm not saying it would be big but i think there would be an audience out there for it: people who are maybe intrigued by starcraft but intimidated by rts games
 
I haven't finished a single Blizzard game that I'm aware off.:(

But I did like the story of Starcraft from reading on the Starcraft-wiki etc.

Kotick is like the hilarious comic super villain who, in previous years, one would only believe would exist is a satiric story.

I think the things Kotick says have gone beyond "well of course he would say that" and into only making sense when punctuated with maniacal laughter and lightning cracks.
