Minecraft = Love

The terrain does feel a bit repetitive, but I guess that will change with later versions when he implements multiple "region"-types etc.

I think I'm making the next Moria...I'm digging out a huge cavern, but hopefully I'm going to dig it right to the surface so you can look down into it. If I succeed I will post pics...

iinfdev...and it was a faliure, i got fed up so i flooded the whole thing. kinda cool, its got all these waterfalls poruing into it now and all the lava turned to stone.

Meh, there wasn't a lot of ore down there anyway. I managed to get some gold and a few diamonds but that's all it had :(

edit: here's part of it before the flood, most of the lava stream was man made.

What is gold really useful for? The durability sucks, and it hardly does any mining/cutting/weapon damage. Is it for armor or just for decoration?

Only found 1 diamond so far. As soon as i saw it my eyes widened and i wispered "DIAMOND". The most exciting thing that happened to me all day.

What do you use diamonds for? Or other minerals?

Diamond and gold can be used to make tools and clothing, as well as iron tools and wool clothing.

Depending on what you use, tools last longer and mine faster, in this order:

wood>iron>gold>diamond

I'm pretty sure anyway.

Nope not gold, its worse than freaking wood :/

Mother****ing SPIDERS.

I was happily putting in the windows for the second floor of my house, when out of nowhere jumps in a GIANT SPIDER. It forces me into a corner and I'm forced to use my iron spade. I knock it into a corner of the room, but at the last second it hits me out of the unfinished wall and I plummet to my death below.

About 10 minutes later, I'm still trying to find my house. GODDAMN.

Is there an ultra noob guide somewhere? I started up in a browser and know how to walk around, jump and break blocks, but that's about it. I ran into some gold blocks in a cavern but don't know how to take them. I only had a few minutes to check it out, so maybe this will be obvious as I go on. How do you go into build mode, how do you build things, etc. are what I'm having problems with.

I'm not looking for anyone to walk me through and hold my hand, but was hoping there was some sort of gameplay guide that explained this stuff. Looking through their wiki didn't really answer my questions, but again I didn't have very much time at all.

Thanks.

I really want to get back into minecraft, but I'm afraid of playing. My GPU coincidently died on me when I was playing the updated indev, I have reverted back to my old trusty 8800. Nobody else has had similar problems have they?

Fishlore, I'll try and help you get started.

When you first start out, the best thing to do is collect wood from trees. About 3 trees worth should be sufficient.

Then, press I to open your inventory panel. Put all of the wood into one of the four crafting boxes to turn the wood into boards.

Now, using directions on this page, build a workbench. Once it's made, you place it down like any other block and right click on it to use it.

Then just use your wood with the workbench to make other things from that page, most importantly, sticks, which you then use to make into pickaxes, axes, swords etc.

Once you have a crafting bench and a pick axe, you're pretty much good to go. Just look around for a place to start digging and go at it.

I'm not sure if that was helpful, but the crafting help page I linked should be able to get you on your way.

And don't forget to switch to Peaceful mode on the options until you get the hang of things and have built your first shelter.

Also, I love the music because it's so calming. I find that it's kind of redundant in Survival Mode considering the frequent "OH **** CREEPERS/SKELETONS/ZOMBIES/SPIDERS" that happens. It works so much better in Creative.

Yeah the music is great, reminds me of LOST. I am also playing on peaceful for a while.

OK Wow... as far as underground cave networks go I think I've hit the jackpot. This cave system is HUGE. It's filled with rivers, waterfalls and lava flows.

I've found tonnes of coal, iron and gold and diamond down here. It's so big in fact, that I've become hopelessly lost and keep going in circles, I'm not sure if I can get out :s

Make a diamond pickaxe and dig your way out? That is, if you have enough wood and cobblestone to make your way out...

Does anyone play this MP? I justed registered for the in-browser thing.

Yeah. A good server is The One's Lava Survival. You have 10 minutes to build a shelter that is lavaproof and you have to survive until the map resets.

I can't seem to find it on the servers list..

I only find his Zombie, Buffalo and Build servers.

Edit: Lol got banned from the lava server now without warning, someone told me to press r when the lava was out and I spawned into lava, started trying to break my way out, apparently broke into some admins underground house and he just banned me bam without letting me explain myself.

I wasn't even informed of the rules when I joined.

Yeah, I got banned from the zombie server because I built a camoflauge shelter in the wall. The zombies couldn't get to me, so instant ban.

Yeah that sort of thing puts me off multiplayer. Lots of Jerks.

New update today. Anyone catch all the new stuff before the forums died from the traffic?

Bought the indev on impulse, and at first I thought "oh god, why did I do that".

Then I played for a bit and realised how cool this game is.

I bought it, is very fun in full 1080p too! I tried the stand alone game offline as well as more of online tonight and had some fun

Ooh, new updates, like pressure plates, steel doors, buttons, torches that turn on and off with the press of a button and levers!

But I still don't know how to use them...

I've been playing this for one full day so far. Last night when the minecraft forums and wiki were down I was playing and found some red ore at the bottom of the most massive cave I've ever found so far. Had no idea what it was and still hadn't found any gold or diamond yet, but found the red stuff. How exciting, I thought I found the supreme element in the game. Today I see the crafting schematic changes and all that red ore does is make a torch that turns on and off?!?

I do have one question for you guys. When it comes to weapons and armor, what is the order from best to worst? I know gold is much harder to find but in real life it isn't the kind of stuff you'd want to make a sword or armor out of so I was curious.

Is diamond only found really deep or have people found it on or near the surface? I've finally found some gold (not sure what to use it for) but still haven't found diamond.

In my personal experience, diamond is only found really deep down. Gold can be used to make the same things all the other ores can, though I'm not 100% sure of the exact order of what ores are best.

I think it goes wool>iron>gold>diamond.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

According to the wiki gold and wood have the same number of uses before breaking.
wood = gold < stone < iron < diamond

The red ores can be used as "wires" that work with the pressure plates, buttons and levers to open steel doors, switch railway tracks, or make traps.

Starting Now: WORK ON MULTIPLAYER SURVIVAL MODE

Played a lot on last night, and now I send the link to my closest friends too. One joined so far, but I need to convince the others to play too. So far he joined, didn't pay yet but he said if he continues he'll probably buy it. I know hes gunna be hooked

Actually, I think the second one was made with a mod that makes trees uber jizztastically awesome.

Woah the dragon is sweet. Now I'm tempted to make a treehouse.
