Most anticipated PC games of 2007

HL2: Black
Spore
Alan Wake
Bioshock
Crysis
Assasins Creed (? I will probably wait for reviews on this one)

7.62
C&C3
HL2: Black Box
UT2K7 (the enforcer is back with a vengence!)

roll on the next silent hill game please. only gaming franchise i'm left interested in these days

New cncnation site....it is coming :shh:

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for PSP
Pedantism removed :p

I'm interested in that too, but I have the original anyway... Sadly, those awesome looking stylised FMVs aren't enough to outweigh the pointlessness of getting a PSP.

ahem ...less PSP/CNC talk more PC anticipated games lists

HL2 EP2, assassin's creed (I'll probably get the 360 version), alan wake(I'll probably get the 360 version), ET:QW and although not new I might get BF 2142.

VoS is going to be broke.
Haha! Quite right--IF these games turn out great and actually release this year. Not likely for all of them to be sure.

Of course, this is only PC games--when other systems are included the number jumps waaaaaayyyy up there...:(

in no particular order:

games I'll almost definitly get:

Bioshock
Assassins' Creed
HL2 EP2
Left 4 dead

games I'm keeping an eye on:

Spore
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
The crossing
Mass effect
Alan Wake
Crysis

...but after you've played the entire story then what? no mp, little replayability since it's story driven ..not so with Age of Conan which is a MMO and can be played for years

Which is why they will be laughing all the way to the bank of course.

Ultimately my top 5 would have to be

1.Spore
2.HL2 black
3.Crysis
4.Alan wake
5.Bioshock

Everything just seems to be on the back bench in terms of anticipation under these titles

That doesn't make it a better game at all.

3.Bioshock
4.Alan Wake
5.Quake Wars
6.Crysis

I would rather them keep their focus remained on the SP, which I find is the better experience. It's more...under the developer's control. I prefer story-driven cinematic games than "cheap" multiplayer that gets old fast. Oh, and I'm not referring to Age of Conan, just most SP games where MP is nothing but a tack-on.

But, I like story-driven games more than streamlined MMOs, they are often shallow in that department. Just a personal preference, really.

Player Freedom vs. Story?

Meh, that came out wrong. I would rather have a solid, engaging, interactive, SP story with fascinating characters than an MMO with often pointless (and sometimes childish) social interaction. I suppose an MMO can have a cinematic story, but it's not as common, and I haven't seen it yet. And you can have Player Freedom in story-driven games, it just has to happen through the story (ie, different dialog choices, etc)

Each type of game has their place however, it's all down to personal preference. I just prefer SP.

I suppose if it came down to it, I would too.

That said, Bioshock should be fairly open-ended. Or atleast free-roaming in terms of level design. That's the scoop anyway.

System Shock 2 was fairly linear while at the same time maintaining free-roaming.

MMO's you're always a cog in the machine

SP you're the main attraction, stories are by nature, way more epic.

my opinion anyho.

I agree to a certain extent but it all depends on genre ..most fps have a plot that can be summed up in less than a half dozen words ..the plot is not the main attraction in any game ..(MUDs being the only exception I can think of). I also agree that MMOs have next to no plot as well and it relies on repetative gameplay to advance what little plot it does have ..however single player games in general have actually declined in terms of how much story is presented ..with the focus on visuals, most game's storyline feels tacked on (it's even worse for the mp portion of the game)

I agree ..however I think single player games can be just as shallow ..I blame gamers and the market it general which encourages quick video game consumption turnover rates so that customers will buy the next title quickly ..I remember when you could purchase a game and play it for months on end if not years

what I personally like in MMO's is the freedom (limited, boxed in freedom, but much moreso than single player games) ..in MMOs you make your own story as you go along: you can play it like a single player game, a small group game or a 40 man screaming horde of cimmerians charging into a battlefield full of 40 other players game

again I'm not specifically referring to any game

and I dont know how any of you can say Age of Conan is a shitty game ...it hasnt been released so we dont know either way

Yeah the current MMO that I think handles player player interactions best is EVE online.

Megacorps duking it out.

However to actually get into something like that is fairly daunting, Eve I don't think handles it too well with older players always having the skill point advantage.

After reading a preview in this months Edge the game i'm most hyped for is Dragons Age. They said late 07/early 08, and it sounds awesome. It's nice to be hyped for a pc game again - i'm going to upgrade for this one :)

I guess that is part of the problem - how do you encourage player interaction (and making older players feel more powerful) without totally alienating newbies?

/EDIT Planetside works fairly well on this front, with all the skill points and the switching and whatnot, so oldbies don't always have an unfair advantage. But it's not as persistant.

hl2 black definatly....

But Superem Commander juss looks like freaking orgasmic RPG Goodyness!! lolz

PEACE
