New screenshot?

fix teh links, i want to see what these people are trying to pass.
 
The ant lion pics have rather obviously been done in something like maya or max.
 
i got the links working myself, ant lions in development, those are faked easily.

Looking at it closely the ant lion renders pretty much scream brazil so that makes it a 3ds max model.
 
that install fake was a waste of a good cd
 
probably didnt even need to use one, im guessing it was all just photoshop.

i almost cancelled it cause i honestly thought it was more gay porn, what with that TOTAL homosexual and the music .. then to blaitently try and con people with that extremely poor vb mock up.. makes me sick.
 
well.. lets see here..

-wheels sinking in the ground

-the back left wheel is crooked

-the actual image(right) has self shadowning wheels and the ones on the
left dont

-the buggy's cage on the right is raised about 1 foot over a driver's head, and the one on the left is about 3

-the top of the cage bars on the right is parallel to the ground, the ones on the left are at an angle..

-cage around the headlights on pic to the right, which is totally missing on pic to the left

-buggy on right has a engine cover(front), while it's missing on the left


as most of you should know, the one on the left is a replica.. you ask "why" would someone do this? well, really it wouldnt take that much time, it's only a few poly's. not too much work..

good job on the replica, you actually fooled a few people..

I don't know if the render "screams Brazil" or not, but it was definitely rendered using radiosity/global illumination. Most 3D packages nowadays do that right out of the box.
 
If you had the beta and wanted to show the rest of the world, would you release an install screenshot? Would you release a file list screenshot? Would you release just 1 in-game screenshot?

If you had the game, you could just start it, take a bunch of pics and upload them. There's no way you would upload just 1 little screenshot. That makes me believe that everything we've seen so far of the supposed stolen beta is FAKE.

good point, that was what i was wondering aswell, it's easy enough to take multiple screenshots, and of all the things we've seen in e3 footage, the buggy has to be the easiest thing to replicate, as its all bars, try to replicate something like alyx of the g-man... and a fake would be very easy to spot
 
Funny how the buggy pic trying to prove its real covers up the front wheel that is going into the ground with "holes in the wheels..what holes" and zoom pic, that together hide the bottom of the wheel thats sinkin into the ground.. and theres no mention of anything countering the raven shield texture theory.. im sorry but that area just looks too crap to the first "level" of half life 2 or whatever.. especially the bit under the bridge.. very rough looking.. and the little fence thing has no shadows..

it is real, it was released by valve, I think in a benchmark article.

the caption was something about being able to get this beuty of water with a dx9 card.
 
To be honest it looks a whole lot more like Brazil than mental ray or any other well known renderer running under pretty much default settings.

They are using softimage XSI an 11,000$ USD program, I think it would have some good render tools.

That's a good point. I'd be playing the mofo and taking shakey cam vids of teh monitor. Not releasing boring still after boring still.

On the other hand, maybe the hackers are just so wrapped up in the excellence that is HL2 they don't have time to tell us about it! :cheers:

Nah, hackers gloat more than you would ever believe, its how you get recognized.
 
nw 909, last time I checked Maya and 3DS MAX wern't cheap either, not to mention the extra couple of grand for a good render plugin like brazil.

Having seen pictures produced by a couple of my friends to me it looks like a brazil render more than anything else.

I could be wrong, but thats what I think.
 
yeah ive seen this many times and no i dont think its a fake for a number of reasons. First people will say that the roll cage is alot higher but thats normal since the one in the e3 footage was too short. 2nd , if you look behind the seat , you will see the EXACT same mark in back of it. Not only that but if you look at the tire marks on that screenshot and you compare it with a e3 footage tire marks , they are exactly the same.. If someone was out to make a exact copy of the buggy they would of made the roll cage shorter , but why didnt they ? Either someone is VERY Good or thats real...

And if they did have a beta you would think an ingame screenshot they released would be something from a setting other than the E3 ones.

XSI is more then $7,000, its upwards of $11,000. The same results seen from Brazil can, for the most part, be duplicated with mental ray and many other renderers

That car model looks like it ha it's chasis, but it' missing it's outer covering.And has two headlights where they shouldn't be .
