Any word on a Steam release? I'll probably pre-order this as soon as it is available.

So hool10 is making me post my thoughts on this game...as I played it at Eurogamer Expo this year. Ren182 played too, so maybe he will post his views too.
Anyway to begin with...I played it on the 360, so the controls were tricky to deal with but that won't be an issue for most of us. The major thing which struck me first was dear god wow, it looks so beautiful. The glare of the sun as you fight sometimes causes problems and it really makes a damn lot more real.
I didn't know much before playing the game but the class cut down seemed to actually be a good move for BC2. Before an engineer was a little restricted to fixing stuff and laying mines. His shotgun rarely troubled many enemies and it lead to few engies playing BF2. With the combined attributes in the fewer classes you feel like you can do a lot more on the battlefield. I found myself being able to fight tanks, choppers, infantry and support team mates all in one class. You feel a lot more able in being able to assist, so you get more choice in how you can approach a situation with several ways to deal with it.
The destructable environments are delicious. It was hilarious when I was trying to play my old style anti-tank role by popping in and out behind walls before tanks could hit me. Now tanks just smash the wall into pieces...it was difficult to get used to. Tanks are even more formidable now than before, with 3 tanks marauding a CP you are unlikely to get much luck doing anything worth any points. Ren182 had a few issues controlling them but they are largely very effective.
Oh and quad bikes are zipping around too, they were fun to drive to get from a to b super quick...but a little exposed obviously.
Lack of planes made the whole thing feel a little more safe knowing you weren't going to get carpet bombed to hell. Although in my game two guys were very proficient chopper pilot and gunner respectively. The rockets obviously cause terrestrial damage also so it is best to not get spotted by a chopper at all.
In summary, I played with such a huge smile. It felt like BF2 again, like she has come home. Sure some stuff has changed but my word it looks so beautiful. Even the infantry combat still feels that same BF2 satisfying feel. When I was playing it was evident everyone was playing just for fun and there was little team work except 3 guys who all knew each other. They were in their own squad and spawning in on their squad leader and dominating the map. The same issue will probably plague BC2 as did BF2 where you really hope you'll find a good squad to get the most from the game.
I took only one photo at the booth before the EA security guard put me in a full nelson and made me pinky swear I would take no more photos. If he wasn't 2ft taller than me with a shaved head I would have insulted his mother. But I didn't, instead I thanked him for the full nelson and the bruised neck.

If you pre-order the game.Good impressions.
question: if you are hiding behind a wall or any destructible object and a tank/grenade/rpg blows it up will that result in your death instantly? Or will you just be stunned? I'm wondering about the balance of it all. Say if you are a sniper hiding in a two-story building peering out a window but get killed by some guy spaming his nade-launcher at every wall, roof, and anything else he can blow up.
also how do you get a key for the console beta?
http://www.thebitbag.com/2009/11/06/gordon-van-dyke-opens-up-about-battlefield-bad-company-2/ (lol'ing at the Dante Inferno demo in the background). The consoles will get a true console version. The PC gamers will get a true PC version.
In the first game if you were hugging a wall or too close to it when it explodes I think you'd take damage and you'd get shellshocked for a few seconds. Dunno as its been forever since I last played.Good impressions.

I hope the PC version keeps BF2s replay-engine, and improves upon it(to make it more along the lines of the replay-engine in Halo 3 in terms of user-accessibility), and what's more, I -dream- that they add it for the console version too.
Dx11= Crushing whites. That's all I can tell from it.
Starts tomorrow.Looks awesome. Doesn't the PS3 beta start this weekend? Can't wait to hear and see more.
Eagerly awaiting to start that, too. Been practicing my controller FPS with Bad Company 1. I'm now up to "Marginally suck ass."Starts tomorrow.
When does the PC beta start? I know its in December, but what day specifically?
Hasn't been announced yet.
while a PC open beta will begin in December.
Does anybody know if the pre-order will be available on Steam?
****ing PS3 keys only available to US residents It's just not fair! I live in the bloody country where BFBC2 is being developed, I should get access to it before the yanks!
