Official Bad Company 2 thread - no beta talk here!

I've killed so many helicopters with that flak cannon. They go down so fast if you can aim, especially if they're already damaged.

I just had another round where the enemy team managed to get both helicopters and they spent the entire round circling us and launching missiles. The highest score on our team was like 300pts. Every time I got to the cannon I would be dead before I could even locate a helicopter, all the tanks and humvee's would be destroyed as soon as they respawned, and I'd be killed before I could even make it out of the base on quad.

They need to make M95's do a lot more damage to helicopters, make AT4's better at heat seeking, add armor covering to the flak cannon, or something...something that makes it so a base is easier to defend.

What was wrong with BF2 and the AA missiles? The flak cannon is a joke compared to that.

I can't seem to start up my game. Every time I hit a loading screen it gives a black screen then CTDs...

Servers seemed to have been rather laggy of late..

just one more day till i can play online...

****. ****. ****.

I got most of the Trophies for the game, but some seem impossible. like running someone over with my helo, and demolishing 20 buildings on people. most people run out of them quickly

I was playing today and had an awesome experience. I was playing that one snowy rush map, the one from the beta. I was at the first base and the one box in the house was already destroyed, leaving only the one in the big exposed crator. So I hopped on an ATV and rode across to the construction tower at the enemy base, after clearing it of all enemy snipers someone on my team happened to set the bomb, just according to plan. I saw the entire enemy team running towards the crate to disarm it, so I got on a machine gun and went to town. It was a goddamn turkey shoot, I probably got 17 kills in 10 seconds as the all of the enemy team swarmed on the box one after another. I highly reccomend trying this if you're playing with friends.

I just played my 1st Squad Rush Mode with some friends and its pretty cool. we beat them so bad they quit the match which makes me feel good.

Squad Rush is fun... it's has a counterstrike feel but it's much more appealing. I don't play it a lot because it gets pretty quiet.. but it's fun to fight against people without 40 snipers waiting for you to peak around a corner or similar situations.

I played a Squad Deathmatch once just after I started playing, was more fun than I expected. My team won 50-48 with the other two squads well behind, and I got our last two kills :D

Hm, the last time a building crushed me, I only just started hearing the sound of it collapsing, dashed for a hole in the wall, but didn't make it :| So I guess if you're on the upper floor, you have less time to get out.

I got crushed last night after I had already gotten out of the window and started falling from the second floor...

think the master servers are having issues or something? every one I joined last night was laggy (for me and everyone else too)

*EDIT
could've had something to do with the latest patch being implemented

I think the M1 unlock finally works now. It sure is a beast weapon. On Hardcore with Magnum slugs, 2 shots for a kill.

i've played two games now, the first i was kicked for at the end of because of inactivity so my stats didn't carry over, then i joined a round and played a few maps, racked up quite a score, unlocked some insignias and medals, unlocked the repair tool, then quit out the game to join a different map and none of it has carried over.

halp?

been playing a few hours now, not anymore because my bloody disc is scratched somehow, but yeah pretty fun.

which is a shame, because i was expecting tremendous fun, but adjusting to all the change from BC1 is goddamn difficult-as. i'll get into it.

the 40mm grenades are annoying me, they seem to have a selective kill radius. I've lost count of the times where I landed a shot within 3 feet of a couple people with little to no damage.

with the collapsing buildings, it seems like if you aren't outside the door at the exact time it goes from structurally sound to shit, you're a goner. Not a huge fan of that, but ah well. Should be some kind of hit detection.

What else....

There's still an issue with the mouse wheel bringing up the wrong weapon when holding shift. It gets me killed all the time, hope they fix this.

no other significant complaints at the moment

40mm grenades have stopped working for me sometimes
they will fire but not detonate
tried smoke and frag at varying distances, no damage or smoke effect
very rare though thankfully

I've noticed if I try to do a mortar strike between branches/leaves the mortar strike will aim for the branch. I assume there's some sort of invisible texture surrounding them that the binoculars pick up on, which is really dumb. Why would the game assume I want to target the leaf 4 inches in front of my face, instead of the flag 300 yards away?

Thats not the case. I imagine that when the building collapses, you tend to get hit by something falling from above you that you dont notice. I know for a fact though that you can escape a collapsing building, and Hectic Glenn can verify this, because I jumped out of the second story of one just a split second before it fell, and I survived.

it's so that if you were standing where you were targetting, you could target that tree. it sucks when you call something in too close, but it makes sense for people that want to target you on the other side of the map and are using the tree as a location.

I guess my point was the game shouldn't recognize invisible textures as targetable. If I'm aiming between branches, and it targets the branch, there's a communication issue in there.

40mm grenade blast radius does seem a little bugged at times. Sometimes I'll hit yards from someone and kill them... others I'll hit right on and I won't even get the little hit action on my targeting reticule. Building don't collapse instantly but as someone stated it seems that you have less time if you're on upper floors. I've had somewhere around 2-3 seconds being on the ground floor after the "This place is coming down!" alert. I made a dramatic escape too.

Bman, the 40mm has an arming range so it takes something like 3-5 yards before it will actually detonate. You can still get a kill with it if you hit someone directly (I imagine it would be painful at best). Smoke works for me but doesn't have a lot of use in the game unless you're really pinned down by recon and m60spam.

I've never had a problem with mortar targeting. It will hit whatever it points at and sometimes that's a leaf in front of you. It makes sense though, since it's most likely a laser targeting system and whatever it bounces off of is going to be the target. Though I think there should be some sort of range indication so you know you're not hitting the leaf 3 inches away.

Also, I hope they kill the m60 and M1911 both get toned down to the point of preference rather than absolute choice. Assault and Recon have the best balanced weapons to me... you basicaly just choose what fits your play style. Medics are mostly using m60s and engineers... well they mostly use carl gustavs but for the times they don't it's the AK74U or the ump.

Gustaving is fun though. Can't lie about that... no matter how lame it is. Gustaving a helicopter is fun too.

Charlie Gustav is mah best frand.

Edit: Oh yeah AA is kind of lacking. I mean not that it's exceptionally difficult to shoot down a helicopter, but the effort it takes does not correspond to the amount of time it takes for it to respawn or the damage it can do if left unchecked. Basically everyone has to stop what they're doing and focus on the chopper or you'll just be under constant harrassment. Unless someone get a good (lucky) sniper shot or I pull off one of my expert gustavs.

Finally got the M60, and I would have to agree, that gun is ridiculously powerful.

the 1911 should stay how it is, it's the first game where I've felt useful when carrying a pistol. It takes 4 bullets to kill and you only have 7, plus it's semi-auto and close range so I'd say it's a fair weapon.

I wish the LMG's had a bi-pod to deploy, because the idea of an m60 at full auto on a soldier who's standing upright is a little silly. But I guess creating a system where the game would recognize if something is able to have a bi-pod deployed on it would be pretty exhausting, considering the destructible environment.

What game have you been playing? The M1911 is incredibly accurate for one. People can basically snipe with it. It's only four shots if none are headshots and conidering the extreme accuracy, it's not improbable to get a headshot. It's also a lot better than any other pistol by a pretty decent margin.

I can't imagine giving LMGs a bipod unless they first made them very inaccurate without one. The idea of them in their current state becoming more accurate is ridiculous. A scoped (or even red dot) m60 can hit all but the max ranges of sniper rifles. The bullets drop less too.

Followed an aimbot user around yesterday who made no effort to hide it and ignored every comment from genuine players. Friendly fire was off so I couldn't even run him down with a humvee.

Cheating sickens yet intrigues me. Why do people do it? What do they get out of it except a big number on their screen? Why is punkbuster still so useless? Why?

Fartknockers aside, I am loving this game as I loved BF2 when it first started.

They enjoy the power and making people rage.

I think it's a social disorder. I wish a psychologist of sociologist would do a study on cheaters and the like in online games. I have a hypothesis that their psychological profiles would match up with some of the most unsavory people in society.

I personally think people cheat because they have small dicks.

Hey, I like to think I have a decent sized pe-

Nothing.

A few others here said something similar, yet I think BF2 got more love these few years ago.

I play BC2 almost every evening, but out of the 20 friends I have on my list, most of the time I see like 2/20 friends playing. Probably around half of the list is from North America so there's the time difference, but still.

The fact that it does not ****ing work and I get a "no games found" when I want to join someone from the friend list and the lack of "join via IP" function to use as an alternative does not help the situation.

We should get a game going this Friday night of .netters.

on the hl2.net server? count me in!
schedule it into the steam group as a reminder cause I'll probably forget

Yup, if we get a good number of people participating, I can put a password on for just members.

Friday night may not be a good time due to it being, you know, a Friday night. I'm going to be out most likely.

I feel like you've been to every other time we've played on Friday night. We all know you don't have plans.
