I loved both Pilotwings games, and feel it would be a perfect fit for the Wii. Thanks to Babyheadcrab for finding this pic, which may be the realization of my dream. Although, it is a little disappointing to see what looks like a mii piloting that plane.

From 1UP: Nintendo's classic flight simulation takes to the skies once more on the Wii. Utilizing the unique controller, Pilotwings on the Wii is controlled by simply pointing where you wish to go.

Ever since the Wii was announced i've been wanting another Pilot Wings. Games don't get more suited to motion control :)

Hooraagh!

The control scheme better work. Blazing Angels was complete shite.

That was made by Ubisoft. Pilot Wings will be made by Nintendo - MASSIVE difference.

Pilot Wings for SNES was godly.

Don't panic ... I've done some research, and it looks like Wii Sports: Airplane was never intended to be part of the wii sports pack.

Instead, Nintendo are working on another pack, called Wii Motorsports, which is like Wii Sports but has planes, jetskis, and cars (probably).

Remember the Wii Sports : Airplane demo shown at E3? Well, it appears that this game was not planned to be part of the Wii Sports line-up after all. Indeed, Nintendo's official announcement only stated Tennis, Baseball and Golf as being the three flagship games for the series.

In Volume 206 of Nintendo Power magazine, they state that the Airplane game is actually part of a Wii Motor Sports series and that a future title in the jet-ski themed Wave Race series may also be included.

Nintendo have not made any official announcement that Wii Motor Sports even exists, but if the speculation is true then we can expect to see further controller tilting driving games added to the list of Wii games.

No idea of a release date though.

I'd still rather see Pilot Wings 2, with a similar art style + high res graphics. Notice I didn't say anything about 'next-gen', **** next-gen. Gameplay has taken a step back with this generation of consoles with a few rare exceptions.

That is indeed a Wii Airplane screenshot and last I heard it was being expanded into a near-full game for the WiiWare. The demo was apparently one of the best shown at E3 2006.
