YAYAY. I have really fond memories of playing a trial like this before. I would have subscribed to this if I could afford it. I may still subscribe.

Yay. I can't wait to fly Reavers again. And Galaxies. Woo.

what the hell... i started the game, made my character, selected where to play and... it crashed. and i have to update a THIRD rime. i am not f***ing happy.
 
ok i made an NC character on Werner called 'Dedalus00'.
 
I'm not going to be able to play for a few hours, I wish I got up earlier so it would've been finished by now.
 
Anyone else get a damned error when trying to create an account? The damn thing won't work for me.

EDIT: Never mind...just did it off the site. Work now. I got a nice 5 hour wait to go.
 
The game downloaded for me in about 3 hours max.. and updated in around 30 mins. I guess i got lucky
 
well I just started downloading 15 minutes ago and it says it should take 2 hours and 21 minutes. Shouldnt have waited untill he last couple days of christmas break to do homework because now I will have less time to play planetside ;(
 
What server are you non-Europeans playing on? Perferably in the East. I'd like to meet up with a few of you and see if I can not suck at this game.
 
How the hell do you get certification points? I had 6..somehow..then I used em. Now I have 2. And I've had 2 for a while....
 
NC = Smurfs
VS = Barneys
TR = Elmos

And you old vets, I suggest trying the trial to see how much the game has changed.

Certification points are basically the points you use to "learn" new skills, gain access to new equipment, vehicles, etc. You gain one new "cert" after advancing in each BR. You can, however, unlearn something in case you made a mistake in selecting, but, you can only unlearn one cert each 24 hours, to prevent people from being one man soldiers and having any piece of equipment they want in one day.

Im so low on hd space its not funny. Id dl this if i had the space. To many movies games on here at this time :/
 
I downloaded this in about an hour, and didn't crash for me once. Guess I'm blessed. :p

So far (last time I played it) it's pretty good, they added some new vehicles like a mech (totally domination I tell you), some weird UFO type of vehicle, and I have no idea what the hell it can do. And one new kind of electric weapon for the troopers.
I'm playing as TF btw, their MAX's units rocks. :D

One funny thing also, they added a Santa Claus hat to all the soldiers and when you die you drop a Christmas present instead of the regular one. Hehe. :)

I think the UFO thing you are talking about is the router. It can teleport ppl.

if any one like online games then get planet side and the core combat expansion cuz im sorry guys but planetside beats every other online fps easily, i have it, man you get some wicked battles on that game like 2k v 2k people in a normal battle and thats a small battle.
if you dont have planetside yet shame on you.

Planetside is a good game...it can be great fun but it becomes to repetative after a couple weeks and you just feel like your paying to play an average online FPS, of course this is from when i played it about a year ago (bought a 1 year subscription like an idiot).

Yeah, it comes up with that page for me. Someone should be able to send you the file, because it's only small.

It's one of those things where it's a small installer but then it downloads the content. It's about 600kb.

Well, each empire has a way with weapons.

TR = Fast-firing, but weak weapons, i.e., Mini-ChainGun is their Heavy Assault weapon
NC = Hard-hitting, but slow firing, i.e., JackHammer, tri-barrel shotgun is their Heavy Assault weapon
VS = Versatile, average weapons, i.e., Lasher, energy weapon shoots "disco" balls, has "lash" splash damage

The same goes for vehicles. The VS, while we have not as heavy firepower (except for our tank), our empire specific vehicles all use hover technology and can traverse over water; vehicles can strafe

It used to be that the NC held most of the population, but recently it seems the TR has the most population.

One thing I love about the VS, our MAXs (big-ass exoskeleton armor) have just as much armor, but we have jumpjets in our feet so we can sort of "fly", or hover, for short periods of time, which allows us to dodge a lot of fire and climb on top of bases for aerial assaults. You can also jump over base walls to suprise the enemy.
The NC MAXs' special ability is to render a personal shield which can block a lot of fire before being torn down.
The TR MAXs aren't as good. Without using their special ability, they are inferior to the NC and VS MAXs. But if they use it, they just edge us out slightly. Most TR complain constantly. :(

It's really up to you to decide. Most Euros here are playing as the NC on Werner (the European server), so I guess you might as well hook up with them.

As for me, I play VS on Emerald. Malfy0 is my name, and rollin' in my MagRider is my game, bitches.
 
It seems most of you are in game.....so....what do you all think? A lot of PS gamers are reporting that there are a lot of new guys running around.

Basically, the creator of the Guerilla Marketing plan e-mailed SOE's PR Department letting them know what the community did, and asked for SOE to capitalize on our success freely. He already got a response from John Smedley, president of SOE:

"Lets talk early next week. I'm very interested."

So I hope this turns into something big.
 
I think it's actually really good, but again my lack of experience means I'm a little rusty at everything. I've spent quite alot of certification points now, I've got Medium Assualt, Sniper, Medic, The first flying one, both Tank ones, and the second exo suit (reinforced I think). I've just got to get used to it really, I'm alot better off by myself sniping off people but that just isn't my cup of tea. Now I just load up with shotguns and such and just go capping enemy bases with random squads, but some squads are annoying, loads of em so far have just been me getting invited into a squad, then the rest of the squad flying off in random directions in Galaxies and Reavers. :p
 
I've played it for a bit but i can remember why i left now. It's a great game, it's just that there isn't enough diversity in the locations- there are about 3 different types of facilities and thats it. run around and shoot things.

I want world of warcraft ;(
 
Yeh is there a free trial of WoW? I've only heard good things about that game. I'm trying out the 1-year Anarchy Online trial now :p
 
Jeez...is anyone else having a problem getting Launchpad to....launch? I keep getting some network error....
 
Yeh I had that, I just turned off ZoneAlarm. Not sure if that's what caused the error though.

Ugh, Zonealarm is off and it's been giving me the same error for the past couple of hours..... Any ideas?
 
I played the trial of this and got pretty hooked... and pretty good even if i do say so myself.


But I was never gona pay monthly for anything :p



So yeah.... one day purhaps lol

Yeh Anarchy Online sucked so bad, no wonder they're giving it away for free. Well, back to Planetside :p
 
Yeah, AO was kinda....bad....generally buggy and all.

Oh, to whoever said bases were too similar, base re-designs are on their way. :D

Ugh, no router, no nothing. Damn thing tells me to try again in a few minutes....That was over 4 hours ago.
