Post counts

I thought I'd leave these enabled for a bit and see what happens. Hopefully most of the people responsible for spamming last time to try to gain a higher post count have grown up and will use these forums sensibly. Please don't make useless posts and spam just to get a higher post count. If you do I'll be happy to reset your post count or set it at -80,000. Alternatively I could always ban you from the forums completely

But yeah, no spamming to get your post count up, or you will face teh ban stick.

Anyway, its much harder to spam due to the 10 char min per post

i dont think you guys will have to worry about to many spammers untill we hear some news regarding HL2. Thats when people get nutty.

Funny really. I used to be the highest, but since becoming a mod, Ive posted less and less. Perhaps its not just being a mod, but also collage and the fact that OFF TOPIC just isnt the same anymore...;(

I was looking into my user area, and I just noticed that my Private messages has been risin from 0% to 57%. I looked at them and I had over 40 messages and they were old ones Weeks old, the odd thing is I did delete them weeks ago after reply to the source user. I thin its a problem happend during the upgrade am I right?

the change is nice.. but im skeptical about the bit about users refraining from spamming for post count increases.. anyway, we'll see.. it won't be too hard to notice a spammer

Heheh, I think its funny that so many people have larger post counts than me when I joined up eariler on. And I come on practically every day!!
I envy them, they must have more free time than me damnit!!

Just as idle curiosity, what was the main reason it was decided to implement post counts again? Was there one big reason, lots of little reasons, or no reason at all? Personally i'm all for them, as long as no-one spams. Like crabcakes66 said though, not many people will spam until we have more news. Come for the HL2, stay for the off-topic, thats what I say!

i think the post count thing is fine...the thing that should be left in when you guys re-make the old style is the little box at the top right that tells you you have private messages.

if it was there before i never noticed it :\

OMFG, DUDE!! That would be totally kick ass to have a post count of -80,000!!! You'd have to create a whole new class for that, but it would be freaking awesome to say that you have negetive posts!!

Somehow I don't see the post count staying for long. I'd put money on it being abused. ;(

On the plus side, when we delete your posts your count goes down correctly, it doesn't stay up like some forums. So don't anyone think about cheating the system k? :E
