I'm flattered that he'd read my thread, but....

Eat it Jack.

I'm starting to think that house in the Imperial City is too small :( Not enough space to show things off, but that really isn't necessary if you think of it.

I found a bit of space where my display case fit nicely, so I don't really care atm about showing off items.

Why the heck do people like showing stuff off in a SINGLEPLAYER GAME. I have two houses the imperial city one, and the tower I aquired thanks to Beth's mod.

I usually throw crap on the ground/chests and run off to kill more critters. Who cares where it ends up aslong as I can get it back later on.

What are Soul Gems? What are the differences between "Less" and "Petty" Soul Gems? As a Nord Warrior Rogue, will I need one as much?

What's a "reusable" Soul Gem like Azura?

A lesser soul gem and a petty soul gem is a depiction of their quality. The better quality, the better construction and thus the better they can hold souls.

For screenshots.

My intention of the thread was to find out what house was the cheapest, and see what other houses were like, since I couldn't afford to buy more than one. But I do have 1 ornamental item in my house. A Scythe. :D I have a real one in real life too. I got it from a burned down house. It's cool it can hack down baby trees in one swing. I used it for unwanted weed bushes once. The one in the game can't be equipped unfortunately, so it's only use is decorative. I was going to bring a skull but I found one in my basement already. D=

(in the game!)

I guess if everyone thought like that, there would be no character face creation in this game. :p

Yea, I was doing that at first too - throwing them on the floor in my house, but I've lost a daedric sword, some ebony greaves, and a potion that fell through the ground. Be careful. It can happen. I would save the game before you drop anything you care about, and try not to step on it or kick it. I stepped on the potion and it went through the floor. Also, you can kick things on accident and sometimes they disapear into the wall. Rarely.

My house was a wreck with items all over the floor because I had heard that chests eat items like a laundry machine eats socks.

But I've been told that you can put stuff in chests with no problems if you own the house, so I am trusting that, and now have 100's of items in a chest in my house.

Interesting, from what I read around here the majority agree that storing items in stolen people's chests / box / containers will cause your item to disappear after a certain amount of days.

Not sure about leaving the items on the ground though, I'd assume it'd be the same as if you were leaving it outside (which I guess disappears as well?)

edit: Did a quick google and other people seem to agree that items do disappear from stolen houses

I better move them real quick then. Although I only keep a little stuff in the stolen house, most I keep in an abandoned house in the Elven Garden District. SPOILER: In one quest for the DB you're supposed to kill a guy in that very house. After I had killed him it took the house. Does that house counts as stolen as well, seeing as it was abandoned?

What's a "reusable" Soul Gem like Azura?

Soul Gems are used to capture a soul after something has died, to properly use a Soul Gem you'll need to know a "Soul Trap" spell.

A charged Soul Gem can recharge your magic items or can be used to enchant a normal weapon (You must be a member of the Arcane Uni to do this, unless you cheat your way in ;))

The quality of Soul Gems matter, it goes in this order (I think):

Petty
Lesser
Greater
Grand

You can get the daedric artifact "Azura's Star" from Azura's Shrine, it is a re-useable grand Soul Gem.

There are also "Black" soul gems.

Curious, what Daedric artifact did you guys give martin for the main quest? He asked for my Skeleton Key, but I refused. Trying to find something i'm willing to give up now, as the skeleton key is the only one I have.

The Wabbjack, when I got it, it never worked.

I gave the ring I got from the shrine south east of Bruma. The Ring of Namira if I recall. Did some spell reflection I think.

Thanks. Bah, I'll give it to Martin, I'm not the magic type guy.

So how do you get into the Arcane Uni the cheating way?

That or use a mod that makes spell/enchanting more available to the non mage. Like Morrowind.

I have a level 6 Imperial Warrior who specializes in blades and I'm having problems with the arena. I'm stuck on the match with 2 wood elf sisters and I am wondering what kind of weapon I should use if one has a claymore and the other a bow. I usually use the Blades katana but it seems not to be enough. Where can I find a better sword?

Oh, and where can I find orcish/ebony armor?

I haven't even tried the arena yet!

When faced with 2 enemies and one has a bow, I always ignore the one with the bow and fight the other. By ignore - I mean you fight the enemy with a melee weapon or magic, and continue to manipulate this enemy by circling so that when the Archer tries to shoot you, they keep firing arrows into the other enemy's back.

If the archer hits you with a few arrows, it shouldn't hurt too bad, not nearly as much as a couple of swings of that claymore. Mainly, if you move just as they fire, you are a very hard target for an archer - but realize that they predict your movement based on how you are moving right before they fire. So fake left and go right or stand still and move after they fire. You can dodge them.

Orcish/ebony armor? You might find an orcish piece or two soon, maybe the next couple levels, but you won't find ebony until much higher levels. It's not hard to find weapons or armor, just go into almost any dungeon with humanoids in it and be at the appropriate level.

Yeah, but most of it is (imo) worthless fur or iron armor. :/

Bear in mind that damage ratings for weapons are dynamic, they go up as you increase in skill.
You are lvl 6 , but whats your blade rating?

There's a bald guy in Chorral's Mages Guild who can recharge weapons, for a price.

Go for the sister with the sword first. The trick is to place yourself so that the sword opponent blocks the bow sister's shot. Once you take the sword elf down, keep your shield up and get close to her. If too difficulty, then tinker with the difficulty slider.

So THAT'S why I have 500+ weight, everything begins to weigh way more in proportion to level.. But why?

Perhaps you still have the ring of burden.

Get rid of it. It's very annoying.

Nope, I do not have it. I got rid of it the moment I got it, I just have like so many items, yet I just noticed that they do indeed weigh like 2x more than their counter parts a few levels past.

That's odd. After i'm done selling and dropping items off at my house, i'm usually at about 100 featherweight. Then, when I collect all my alchemicle ingredients from home, i'm about 124 featherweight.

But yeah, i'm noticing now that my weight fills up a HELLUVA lot faster now.

My skillz are going down... yesterday I had 62 sneak. Today, 52 sneak. I noticed that my other skills had regressed as well... why?

Actually, wait. I took off my Apron of Adroitness... was that it? I forget what it does.

When I'm having all my armour an neccesary weapons, ie just what I need to survive, I'm weigh like 250.

I get really annoyed, i only half way get through most dungeons and portals before im overemcombered, i carry about 5 swords on me... for varying situations and because i cant charge them, so i go onto the next one etc....
Looks like i'll have to sell them all. :(

I just pick up swords, discharge them and throw them on the ground. The one worth charging, I charge. (It does 24 initial damage and 20 frost damage). Now I am training my blunt skill too, war hammer is hilarious to use.

As If I wasn't strong enough (109 strength) I am also an expert of alteration.

I use the alteration spell "pack mule" (casts 'feather') I can carry 717 units of weight. The spell adds about 150 units to your maximum carrying capacity and lasts about 2 or 3 (game) hours before I have to recast. Magic consumption is about 50.

I am a master of Heavy armor. Wearing this armor no longer counts towards the weight I am carrying.

If I get full, I just make several trips through the cave to make sure I got all the loot. In the case of The Planes of Oblivion, I just carry what I can in one trip. I usually come out with a few new items to keep and a couple sets of daedric armor to sell. What I often do is drop everything out front of the dungeon, creating a huge pile, and go back in. When the dungeon is empty then I make a couple of fast travel trips to sell the stuff.

To the OP, I usually bring either a silver or an enchanted weapon and something inert like a Daedric Longsword. IMO, you shouldn't carry more than 2 or 3 weapons unless the weapons don't weigh anything (rockshatter, blade of woe) Keep in mind that ghost type enemies and Nords are immune to Frost damage if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: fixed values (checked)

A small gripe i have with the game is the inability to Bash open locks... say at certain blade or blunt skill, i mean, im finding lockpicks more rare to pickup, particulary as im now running around taking down oblivion portals. And being a warrior character, i dont want or have a huge security level or the ability to magic the lock open.

This is really getting to me as I have to save before using my one last lockpick to get into whats now a hard lock.... and reload when i screw up.

isn't there a mod that lets you bash open locks?

Join the thieves guild. After the first quest, you can start to buy Lockpicks from the fences (Ongar in Bruma is the first). After you get a fence, you can just ignore the rest of the guild quests.

As for the Skeleton key, you have to find the Shrine of Nocturnal. I won't tell you where it is, so as not to give it away, but it's to the north of Leyawiin, on the East side of the river. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

And yeah, I only have three weapons on me at all times. One is a sword of some sort, used for encounters with Daedra and other monsters, the other is a small dagger, used for stabbing Necromancers and other Humans, and the last is a Staff of Paralysis I got just yesterday, after I got into the Arcane University.

I could probably last on the Dagger alone (Sufferthorn), the only problem is that it gets worn out way too fast. It's really good for fast sneak and slash though.
