WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING WITH MY SKILLZ ><

They're going randomly all over the bloody place. My Blade skill = 64 down to 52. Sneak skill 65 > 52. Alchemy 27 > 6. Mysticism 25 > 44.

My skills are all over the place, and I only notice when I tried to soul trap something and it goes 'you don't have a high enough skill level to use this spell'. Anybody know why?

You tried praying yet?

If that doesn't fix it, I betcha it's a bug.

I prayed to get rid of Vampire disease... oh... was that it?

All these things i keep forgetting. -_-'

Maybe at one point you had the vampire stat boost and it's wearing off (happens for a time after feeding)? Or you have some other random weird disease..? *shrug*

Dark Brotherhood quest question

*SPOILER*

the mission where you have to wipe out a whole family (cant remember name) starting with the elderly mother and ending with a female city guard ...how do I kill her without the guards finding out? I killed her in a seculed area, had 0 bounty but when I went the next town I was immediately arrested ..I'd rather kill her silently (I dont have a poison apple or I'd try stuffing one in her pocket ..I just cant figure out how to kill her without a fight

*SPOILER*

^ I killed her when she was at Three Sisters. No matter how I tried it, I could not get rid of her without getting a 1000 coin fine, so I just swallowed my pride and payed it when they arrested me.

ya that's what I ended up doing ..it just didnt strike me as right killing someone and then being busted for it ...not very assassin like

heh you've already passed me in terms of gameplay time ...not too long ago I was giving you advice, not the other way around :)

I've played it since the game was released and I'm still only level 15

heh, I've almost only been playing for the DB. I was banished from the Fighters Guild, I'm stuck at a stupid Mages recomendation, and I haven't been bothered to solve it, and I can't be bother to steal for 200 gold in the Thieves guild, so the DB was my only option :P

ya I'm afraid the other guilds/quests arent going to be as good as the DB quests ..I should have done them after the other guilds

I don't know, I've only done about four of the DB contracts, all after completing the Thieves Guild in it's entirety. That had some great quests toward the end.

One question I have just now is about:

The Gray Cowl. If I commit crimes when wearing it, I can take it off and there should be no bounty on my head..... correct?

I have a question. I needed a Mages Guild recommendation in a god forsaken town which name I have forgotten where I'm supposed to take a ring out of a well. I have asked around, but nobody knows where the key is. I had left this for a while, in order to work for the DB, but now I'm done with that (I think), and I need to do something else.

I can't remember her name, but there's an Argonian (in the guild) who gives you the key. Be careful though, the ring you collect weighs.... well it has an encumberance penalty of 150.

Heh...yeah. I carried that thing around for an hour or two before noticing that. :D

That's why she gives you a ring of feather to wear when you get it :P

There's also a nirnroot down there.

And get into the Arcane University. Now. It's TOTALLY worth the effort.

You get a ****ing bucketload of free and rare alchemicle supplies, you can tweak your spells to your liking (even make some completely new ones), you get a free staff that does whatever the **** you want it to do, and you can enchant anything you want with anything you know.

:O I didn't get anything like that. She handed me a water breathing spell.

:/

She gave me a Ring of Feather. I keep it with me at all times, comes in real handy when you need that extra push to clear out the last bit of loot in a dungeon, but you don't need the power enchantments from the other rings you have, as you've already cleared out the dungeon.

NEW QUESTION

I recently got the Ring of the Khajiit from the Meridia shrine quest where you're asked to clear out an entire den full of necromancers, and I have to say, that was some of the most fun i've ever had playing a video game.

But, as with all Daedric shrine quests, you're rewarded with some obtusely powerfull object, and this was no different.

I got the Ring of Khajiit as my reward, and it bears the following:

Fortify Speed +10

Chameleon 35%

Now, I play a thief type character, and something like this you'd imagine is invaluable to me. But no, I already have a 30% Chameleon amulet I enchanted with a Sigil Stone. I had a hell of a time getting the stone, a hell of a time getting a nice amulet to enchant (robbed the Jewelry store in the Imperial City of its most valuable display case), and a bit of fun trying to name it (ended up with "Pendant of the Holy", as Holy is AiM's xfire handle :D)

The PROBLEM is, that the Ring of Khajiit combined with the Pendant of the Holy, gives me 65% chameleon. I've tested this out, and I can push imperial guardsmen around by sprinting into them whilst in sneak mode, and they still have no clue i'm there.

I've almost dead set decided on giving this ring to martin to destroy, so that I won't end up "breaking" my game. I mean, it's not very much fun to sneak around when you could always just walk through them knowing it would have the same effect.

I'm wondering if you guys agree with my throwing it down the tube, or if perhaps I should just keep it in my magical items chest at home, for later use.

If I kept it, then I still have to find a way to get an Artifact to give to martin. My other question is (and I already asked this), what did you guys give to him? I was thinking of giving him the Namira Ring once I got it, but i'd like some oppinions.

Keep it for display or something.

And I'm not up to that bit in the main quest.

Anyone else enchanted a full suit of Glass armour or any light armour/clothing for that matter with all +10 bonuses to speed? Bloody hilarious, now I just need something to boost my acrobatics.

Anybody enchanted a full set of armor with all +10 luck. Is there anything special that happens once you go beyond the 100 luck mark? I tried playing the game for a while with 90 luck, but I really saw very little difference in what kind of items I was finding, so I went back to having 140 stregth.

I hate alchemy. Never got the grip of it. I've played for a long time now, and I've never used it, I don't see any point, and I've never gotten the grip of it. No matter what ingredients I mix I never seem to be able to create anything. How are you supposed to know which ingredients that makes an effect?

Instead of selling ingredients like flowers, you just grab a mortar and pestle and click on things to mix them. At first I didn't feel like learning it because I thought it might be complicated and require allot of knowledge to figure out what can be mixed with what, but if you click the mortar and pestle in your inventory, it will only allow you to mix things that actually make something. Not only do you end up with an infinite supply of potions, but it's a great way to boost your intelligence bonus for when you level up. You can also make poisons to apply to your weapons. You can always just sell the potions themselves instead of the flowers and other ingredients.

If you happen to have a calcinator, retort, or that other thingy, for each one in your possession when you create the potions will increase the power of the potion slightly, but they aren't necessary.

Thanks to alchemy, my stupid armored warrior has become quite smart and thus has much more magicka as well as hundreds of healing and every other type of potion and poison.

Ah... I always click on View all... Thanks for that. ANother question; how do I restore the magic in your weapons without paying 200+ gold at the University? Is there any way to do it yourself?

Yea just click on a soul gem. Soul gems can be found as treasure and sometimes the mages guilds leave them out and if the hand cursor isn't red, then they don't mind if you take them.

Click a soul gem that has a soul in it, then it will open a menu of your items that can be charged. (if a gem isn't charged it will say "none")

A charged soul gem will say petty, common, lesser, and greater, and I believe the amount of charge they have goes in that order.

Pay attention to how much of a charge a soul gem will give so you don't waste a powerful gem on something that doesn't hold that much of a charge.

Also, if you click on a Varlya stone (value of 1000 gold and sells for around 350-500 gold) will completely charge everything in your inventory.

You can also recharge your own soul gems with the "soul trap" spell.

do you activate the soul trap spell before or after you kill the person? can you use the soul trap on any enemy?

I've never tried it because I didn't learn mysticism, but from what I hear, you cast it on an enemy and you have a certain amount of time to kill them (possibly 20 seconds) in order to trap their soul in an empty soul gem in your possession. If you don't kill them within the time frame, I guess you don't trap their soul.

I don't know if you can use it on any enemy but I can't think of any reason why not - except maybe in the arena. You probably can't use it on summoned creatures either.

Depends, the Soul Trap spell I have lasts like < 5 seconds so I activate it when the enemy has a slither of health left. Your average soul gem's can't capture human souls I believe, but there may be (not sure about this...) certain stones that allow you.

You cast the spell on them (its a touch spell) right before you're going to kill them, and it gives you a few seconds to do so.

Soul Trap can be used on everything I've come across, including summoned ones, but you must have a soul gem capable of containing it. For instance, people have very very big souls so if its even possible to contain them I haven't succeeded yet.

You can use it on summoned creatures, there's a loading screen that says so.

ya I tried it on a guard and it said I couldnt ..so I guess smaller animals/monsters as I have a few empty soul gems of different sizes

AFAIK I think Black Soul Gems (The illegal ones) are used for people.

Give it a whirl.

Hmm thats interesting. The only black soul gems I've found were part of a quest and had no monetary value. To complete the quest they had to be handed over. You still might be right though, I just haven't found any besides those. They belonged to the guildmaster of the mages guild and discovering the black soul gems got him kicked out, so I think they have to do with necromancy - and yes, possibly people.

I see dead people...

LOL :D

You can make your own black soul gems, if you so desire.
The mages guild quests has all the info you need.

Yes the black soul gems are the only ones that can be used on people.

They are made at that necro alter, but how do you make them? I put them in and cast soul trap, but the gems wont change.

Can you guys try to remember to put a spoiler warning before things that reveal quests and secrets? This is just a questions thread like , "how do I do alchemy?"

I'm not sure why they removed the spoiler tags from this forum engine but it was a bad idea. So far I have managed to not read most of the things, but it's not easy. There is little satisfaction in doing something after someone tells you how to do it.

Conversely, it would be pretty rewarding to figure out how to get the infamous skeleton key, or how to use black soul gems on your own, and that's the only way I roll.

How do i check my frames per second?
