code geass R2 ep 18 OMG/10

I know we don't talk about anime here but seriously words can not describe how amazing that episode was

Leonar--never mind...

Son Of Rambow - 7/10

Why these ads for these films say that they are "the best british comedy since Hot Fuzz" I don't know, it's never true.

Hmm. I've been wanting to see this for a while now.

The Fountain - 9/10

Just seen it. I have shed a tear while watching a movie for the first time in my life. That says something.

It goes into the undefined pool of my favorite movies.

The Fountain is good, all of the symbolism is a bit thick though, like trying to breathe underwater. Only movie I've ever cried at is Children of Men.

I also really liked it. Great soundtrack too.

*adds unfocused to the list of hl2netters who liked The Fountain
*list includes Unfocused, Warbie and myself :p

I like all of Aronofsky's films. Pi is the best.

*adds Ennui

Yeah Pi is pretty godly tbh. Nothing kicks you in the gutts as much as RFAD though imo.

Oh boy, are you right. I recently had my friends watch it with me and they all agreed with me that it's one of the most powerful movies ever shot. At the end of the movie, I'm always shaking uncontrollably. When a movie can do that to you, you know you've just watched a masterpiece. I love both RFAD and The Fountain. I never actually got through Pi. I think something came up and I never got back to it. I should just to serve Mr. Aronofsky.

Requiem For A Dream: 10/10
For reasons pointed out above.

One Hour Photo: 9/10
Robin Williams is absolutely fantastic in this. The story is original and gripping. God I love this movie.

I dunno, I personally think Pi has a better feel than RFAD. But I've seen Requiem quite a few times too so a lot of it's worn off on me.

X-Files, whatever the new movie that was recently released is called - 2/10. Awful! I wanted to be creeped out, or spooked a little. Aliens and sh!t. Instead we were treated to character interplay between Scully and Mulder. Dang it!

That's disappointing...I'm still gonna see it though. I'm an X-Files fanatic.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly - 7/10

A great film for its time, now terribly dated.

Juno - 7/10

A corky little romance movie, it's was worth downloading but nothing more.

Rome (Season 1) - 9/10

Not a movie but awesome nonetheless. My favorite character is the machine Octavian, future First Citizen, Emperor, and bringer of the Pax Romana.

Charlie Wilson's War - 8.5/10 - Dignifying her asshole.

Patton - 8/10

Enjoyed it, no doubt Patton was great at what he did, but he was a tosser.

Grumpy Old Men - 8.5/10...
Hilarious.

Grumpier Old Men - 8/10...
Still pretty funny but it was a bit too lovey dovey.

Not a movie, but Cowboy Bebop, The First Session - 10/10

I'm hooked.

Patton - 8/10

Are you kidding? Patton was a badass. An ass, also, but a lot more cool than fool.

Not to mention an incredibly competent general.

"I don't want to get any messages saying, "I am holding my position." We are not holding a Goddamned thing. Let the Germans do that. We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything, except the enemy's balls. We are going to twist his balls and kick the living shit out of him all of the time. Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like crap through a goose; like shit through a tin horn!"

Run Fat Boy Run - 9/10

Very good movie, quality humor from Pegg

He was an excellent general, but a racist asshole off the battlefield.

It was a time of war and he was a warrior, of course he was a racist asshole off the field.

Tigerland - 8/10...

He was very dedicated to his role, and had unsurpassed loyality, in a way I kinda respect in, but at the same time, hate him. He didnt take any shit, and didnt give a shit, and as the movie showed he did care for the troops under his command, even though he would ask the impossible of them constantly. And to be honest, the incident of slapping a Pvt in a field hospital because he was there because he was too scared, I fully supported, him sitting there perfectly heathly with all those troops around, seriously wounded and clinging to life, a complete and utter insult to them, I bet when he was marched off to the frontline he would have done things a lot differently.

What really pissed me off about him though, was as most of us have probably seen, the 101st Airborne, taking a shitstorm and still holding the line against all odds in Bastogne, only for Patton to come along and try and take the glory from them, luckily Eisenhower and pretty much everyone else wasnt having any of it and they get a day of decaration rightfully.

Most wars are won by huge assholes, because they always seem to know how to win a violent conflict.

Anyway:

Cast Away - 8/10

Tom Hanks is a ****ing amazing actor.

The Dark Knight: 11/10

A rollercoaster of awesome. The film is one big highlight.

Lost in Translation: 9/10

An incredible, up-lifting and truly meaningful piece of work. I love it.

Still not a movie, but I finished the entire series of Cowboy Bebop.

10/10

I almost choked up a little.

I must see Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

Batman: Gothem Knight - 7/10
Good enough, though the acting isn't exceptional. Is this really supposed to be the same universe as the new films? Some things seemed too fantastic, like the magic EMP. Also Batman has a fabric suit and bulletproof cape in most of these, rather than the suit he has in the films.

Cars - 5/10
Pixar's one mistake.

Futurama: Bender's Big Score & Beast With A Billion Backs - 7/10
Like Futurama itself they were good with great characters but seldom made me laugh out loud.
