Had a movie marathon last night:

The Iron Giant: 10/10
A "kid's" movie with a brain? What is this? No wonder it tanked in theaters. It's charming, clever, symbolic; **** I love this movie. It is my definitive second favorite movie.

Donnie Darko: 9/10
Even with all the theories I've read online, I'm still not grasping all of it. But I think maybe that was kind of the point, to form your own conclusions. The movie is down right horrifying some times too. In a good way.

Monster: 9/10
One of the few movies that actually turns the protagonist from "good" (ie audience is rooting for her) to evil. It's hard to have a heel as a protagonist and still have the audience interested, but this movie does it so well. So tense, too.

Meet Bill: 3/10
Boring, no point, get out of my life.

The Dark Knight 8/10

Solid movie. Ledger really makes this movie. The pacing is suburb.

Hellboy II 6/10

The first was better. Pretty decent as far as sequels go. Decent action, somewhat interesting characters.

Burn After Reading 3/10

This is one of those movies "about nothing", like The Big Lebowski for example. Unfortunately, unlike The Big Lebowski, the characters in this movie were annoying, repetitive, and unimaginative. Save for Brad Pitts character.

Who ****ing dies half way through the movie anyways.

Red Dawn 7/10

As good as an 80's movie can get. This movie manages to be an 80's action movie that is still somewhat serious. It's interesting to see the characters go from a bunch of high-school football players to a guerrilla warfare resistance group in Russian occupied America.

Just saw it last night. Loved it. 9/10

Are you serious?! D:

Also...you like the big lebowski!

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG :x

Burn After Reading - 8/10

Solid, well-written, excellent acting, entertaining. Loves me some Coen brothers.

I about shat myself when Brad Pitt got shot in the face

PS: The Dude abides.

Heroes - Season One - 9/10

Very, very enjoyable stuff. Now if people ask me; "Have you seen 'Heroes' yet?" I can say "Why yes I have!".

Matt Parkman ftw.

Weeds - Season 4 - 10/10...

Holy ****, my heart was pounding towards the end.
I ****ing love this show.

Eagle Eye - Glados rip off lame movie. 4/10

Eagle Eye - 8/10

Its got Portal written all over it, but I doubt it was intentional of course. Geniuinely enjoyed it and didnt see the plot coming, although was kinda suspicious at some points before the whole 'twist' hits home like it does in every movie.

Why the hell would you two spoil the movie for me?
Why would you do such a thing?
What is wrong with you?

Actually I just won a bet that I had running with friends. I stated what the plot was after just seeing the trailer, and got it right.

Seriously me to, i was able to predict EVERY scene and twist in the movie from the trailer alone. Movie was lame. Lets kill it with a PIPE! WOOT!

Weeds - Season 4 - 10/10...

Holy ****, my heart was pounding towards the end.
I ****ing love this show.

I thought the cliffhanger was kinda lame.

Maybe it was because I kinda guessed she was preggo. The headaches were a key.

But it doesn't matter. I can't wait until the new season starts.

I thought she was going to pull out scans of her brain to show she had a tumor or something. :p Never would've guessed she was pregnant.
I almost shit myself when I saw Doug was about to hang himself. D:

The Mummy Returns - 7.5/10...

Fun fun fun.

Iron Man: 8/10

Great movie. My father loved it more than I did though since he was into the Iron Man comics back when he was a kid.

I didn't really Tony that much though. His billionaire-playboy personality got on my nerves for the super-genius character he also somehow managed to pull off in the movie. I know nothing about the comics, but my dad says he was a playboy then too.

How can the smartest, richest man in the world also be the dumbest though? :/

I thought the norm was that super-genius people are supposed to be introverted and eccentric?

I liked the villian's mech suit more too, albeit less advanced than Tony's. It's just larger, and more, "OMG <shits pants>" intimidating.

Nope. Lots of very clever people were very boisterous and outgoing. Einstein was a normal guy, Shakespeare and Dickens seem to both have been highly gregarious, and just you try skipping to 'Personal Life' on Richard Feynman's wiki page.

Thomas Edison was also quite the party-goer.

If the party theme was "steal everyone else's shit."

Paprika(the anime) -9.0

wonderful and imaginative movie, it gets a mark down because when you really think about it the story doesn't make sense, but I suggest you do like the directors suggested in the commentaries and just go with the flow and you'll enjoy it regardless.

Man was this movie a trip. Loved every minute.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation 2/10

2 points given for unintentional comedy that was created by bad acting/effects/scripting etc.

Yeah that movie was awesome :)

Spaced 8/10

simon pegg goodness :D

Take The Lead - 9/10. I don't normally like dance films because they don't feature the type of music that I like but this one I like for two reasons: 1) it had Antonio Banderas in it (and he was HAAAAAWWWWWT!!!!) and 2) it featured ballroom dancing, which I would like to learn.

Dear Friends: 9/10

Absolutely heart-wrenching... Being the pussy I am, I cried countless times throughout. Surprisingly well made and acted compared to other (few) Japanese movies I've seen.

*still wiping tears away*

edit: also the girl in my avatar is from the movie. By far the cutest little girl I've ever seen, and her acting is great.

how to lose friends and alienate people 5/10

pretty average stuff and rather disappointing for a simon pegg movie. Alot of the jokes aren't funny and some things ar e set up that are never explored. It's still a pretty enjoyable story albeit cliche but i would have given it 6 if they cut the last 5 seconds of the ending :flame: I'm serious literally the last 5 seconds.

Hot Rod - 6/10

Eh, has it's funny parts, but it's overplayed in a lot of parts.

Eagle Eye - ....6? 7? 8? /10

Wut?

I thought it was a decent enough movie, but....

The setting in present-day US was a bit off, as the technology involved was largely beyond state-of-the-art. Kinda reminded me of SHODAN from System Shock (minus the supreme evilness) and HAL.

But I think it would have been awesome if it went like: "Loo- ook at you Je- Jerry, a pathetic cre- creature of meat and bone, pa- panting as you run...." :p

Laputa: Castle in the Sky - 8/10 - Despite having the Mark Hamill-less english dub, this was still pretty damn nice. A very simple, enjoyable animation with some nice messages nestled subtly inside.

Howl's Moving Castle - 9/10 - Incredible animation and story. The dubs were perfect (I really liked Billy Crystal, suck my balls) and it moved very briskly despite being two hours long. Consistently creative; it's sad to see how pedestrian Disney has become in comparison lately, with the exception of WALL-E (though that's Pixar helmed).

God bless Hayao Miyasaki and Studio Ghibli.

^ Agreed, except I thought Howl's plot was kind of cliched after watching the other Ghibli movies. You get used to the formula after a while, I guess. :p

Still awesome though.

21 - 51/52

Not quite a full deck.

See what I did there?

Little Miss Sunshine - 8/10

Funny, better than I though it would be, but kind of cheesy near the end.

no country for old men wtf/10

i'm going to come out and say it, i didn't like this movie. I don't get the appeal even though i was excited to see this movie but haven't watched a coen brothers movie before. I know most of you will tell me how i am wrong but i really didn't like this movie.

It's painfully slow, very little explanations are given and it's hard to pick up what characters say cos of they're accents for me and the ending provides no closure whatsoever.

That's when you rewind and turn on the subtitles. :p

The Golden Compass - 7.5/10...
Entertaining and a real treat for the eyes.

Quarantine: 6/10
If I would have known it did the whole "lol, discovered film footage" thing like Cloverfield, I wouldn't have paid seven dollars.
