Red Dead Redemption Official Thread

I know GTA IV did trains as well, but as soon as you fired up multiplayer they ceased to exist. Hopefully that isn't the case here. I know there were tons of things left out of GTA IV online that were in the single player portion.

I know in GTA 4 90% of the buildings you couldn't physically enter , is that the case with RED DEAD REDEMPTION?

My opinion is that every building will be enterable cause of the vast space between buildings, huts, campsites, ect.... What do you think?

I've heard that nearly all buildings(if not all) are enterable, yes.

Some dude from a place said some R* guy at E3 told him all buildings would be enterable... if you trust that source. :V

It's been said many times before that all buildings will be enterable.

Doesn't it say it in one of the videos?

Probably because there aren't that many buildings to enter in wild west. Which is completely opposite from GTA4. I'm pretty sure each town has at least 4-5 buildings to enter.

Wow. This may be the first console multiplayer that I dive into head first. It looks incredible and the Western setting adds so much more to the tired old multiplayer concepts that have been around for ages.

Haven't really followed this game. Shame it's third person, otherwise I'd buy it. Did I see lock on aiming in one of those vids? If it is lock on aiming, do they keep that in the multiplayer?

It'll be server settable. Different levels on aiming assistance or none at all.

What's wrong with it being third person? GTA games were third person. Did you not like those?

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense. I'll admit that it's perhaps a bit irrational, but I just can't stand third person perspective. I wish I could give more of a reason. I loved the overhead view GTA's a lot and played a few of the 3D ones, but never got further than about 10% completion in any of them because I could never get past the third person perspective.

This game looks fantastic in every other area.

ok slightly weird story but one of my uni lecturers openly said today he had preordered RDR limited edition in his class and was wondering if anyone else had also preordered it and what bonus they got

I was the only one who had preordered it :( (incidentally I got the assassin's outfit bonus though)

Just bought the game for £28. Which I think is a pretty ****ing good deal.

Sadly this wasn't from a place that offers a pre-order bonus, but I can live without it for a price that is about a tenner cheaper than anywhere that does offer it.

Holy shit! That's crazy low. Where did you get that deal?

I wish none of the preorder bonuses had... well, bonuses. I wish it was just a costume, just golden guns, and just a horse that looks different and cool.

But with the bonuses attached, I don't want to use them. I'm the type of person who wants to play the game without those advantages.

WOAH! Where from? seriously i'll cancel for that price

Link says £34.00...

Edit: That's still dirt cheap though.

Since that is the PAL version, I know it'll work on an NA PS3, but will the servers be the same, or do I get forced on the EU ones? That is important.

I'm not looking. I can't wait to be utterly immersed in the experience. I have a nice little embargo going and I am not about to break it!!!

Reading that only makes my expectations so much bigger , and they are pretty damn big to begin with... **** I WANT THIS NOW!

Not even touching that link.

And still want answer to my question above.

Not even touching that link.

Yeah, I'd advise you to steer clear from that preview, unless you want the first part of the game spoiled. I can safely quote this though:

Red Dead Redemption easily dethrones Twilight Princess for the not-too-hotly contested crown of best herding in a game, its take on the art of bullying cows proving surprisingly brilliant.

Herding is a simple yet fulfilling task – Marston must sweep the mass of cows on his horseback, flanking the herd to change its direction and breaking free on occasion to take care of stragglers

This may be Rockstar's first real rural open world game, but just how rural it can be is still a little stunning.

So much looking forward to this. :farmer:

I hope to ****ing god you can herd in multiplayer. It'd be a serious issue if you can't herd in multiplayer.

Imagine setting a task to herd cattle from one town off to a far away one, and even encountering some troublemakers along the way.

I dunno... just having the option is a good thing.

Would be awesome to see AI cowboys out there herding cattle... armed to protect themselves and the herd... and rustling some cattle with my posse!

Seriously cowman, I know it seems important to you and all. But who ****ing cares? I mean it whould be pretty cool... But there will be so many awesome features anyway. So what if you can't herd in multiplayer?

ITT:

*Discovery of a minor new gameplay feature*

Raziaar: "YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO DO THAT IN MULTIPLAYER! WILL BE F**KING BULLSHIT IF YOU CAN'T!!"

They say it's done so well, that doing it in multiplayer would greatly enhance what you can do in the multiplayer free roam experience.

And you're god damn right Krynn! This feature being in multiplayer makes or breaks the game for me! Same for every other one I discover that I think would be good in multiplayer.

Or not.

That being said, I'm willing to bet a pretty penny that you'll be able to herd cattle in multiplayer. No multiplayer "Cowboy" experience would be complete without the ability to do what Cowboys actually do to earn a living.

I'm just hoping this game doesn't pull a GTA IV in the multiplayer department.

I'm guessing certain things will be taken out due to lag issues with online. Hopefully the trains and other cool features remain when you switch over to the multiplayer.

Wonder if this could be their own GTA killer. Its shaping up to be a must-buy thats for sure.

Yeah I've decided to do a media blackout for this as well, except for when it comes to official trailers from Rockstars.

Guess there is no swimming.

"As an outlaw character who's spent most of his life on horseback in the land-locked territories of the West - John Marston is not much of a swimmer. If he has to cross a body of water, transport will be provided. John has no problem wading, but if he gets too deep, he will drown."

Im so boycotting this game. If I can't go swiming with my friends in multiplayer, what the **** am I getting it for?

Well we dont know if thats in multiplayer. You better not be able to swim in multiplayer. Will be ****ing bullshit if you can!!

Like dragracing.
