Returning character revealed

So the model used for the scientist arguing with the Gman is random? I always got slick in my 3 play thru's... Must be purely coincidental..

But we got to keep this in mind. I'm sure Marc Laidlaw (the writer) had no idea about the story line of HL2, what characters will return in HL2 etc when he was writing HL1. So what he is likely to do is revisit his old HL1 script and look for a character that will fit into the story of HL2.( So that no one can say "hey I saw that guy dead!! I gibbed his dead body to a million pieces with my crowbar!! How can he return in HL2?? and stuff like that )

This is why Kliner and Eli worked. Gordon had no weapon when he met them after the resonance cascade. So it is plausible to assume that any player would NOT kill them ( Unless u r a bloodthirsty butcher who would pick up the crowbar from near the elevator, go all the way back killing every living being in sight ;) ) Anyway Kliener and Eli did not die of an accident (Got headcrabbed, something blew up in their face etc)and it is way possible that the player would not kill them also ( Since the crowbar is found sometime after we leave the 2 scientists )

Same for the scientist arguing with Gman.. No one can prove he died because he was way out of Gordons path.. the only problem is the random model thing... Valve would expect players to forgive this little inconsistency..

But think of the importance of this character. He has spoken with the Gman personally ( So he may have some inkling of WTF Gman is), he ran the experiment ( So he may have intimate knowledge of the experiment and Xen and those Yellow crystals ). That is quite a CV! This scientist would be at the very top of any shortlist of returning characters from HL1.

He is much better than some random scientist dont u think?

I'm changing the name of this theory ( With Mickaels blessing ) to the Scientist-who-argued-with-gman-and-ran-the-experiment.Cheers!!

This forum is so damn interesting...I love you guys, you are genius hehe!!

I just hope that some Adrian Shepherd will not return.Gman didnt kill him, assume that he might be needed him for some future missions!!Hope this is just a ordinery hole!!

Yeah its always been the Kleiner model for me, because on the way back after the test accident i see him push a cabinet onto one headcrab (gibbing it) then another headcrab takes him from behind

Haha now thats what i call a real foe.
Wonder what Barney would call this one. "Back Humper"?

haha, i should of seen such comments coming =p

but you get my point either way lol

He probably has no idea who/what the G-Man is. Our blue-suited friend was actually seen by many people during the events of HL1. In the train transit system, by that scientist, by soldiers, etc. They all probably just assumed he's someone important from the administration or a government agent sent to check the facility out.

Yes you may be right but we cannot be absolutely sure. But this adds to the mystery of the character. Players would always wonder "does this man know Gman? Can we trust him?"

But at least he could shed some light on the big argument. The argument could have been about anything but most probably it had something to do with the Experiment. Did Gman try to stop the experiment? Did he persuade the scientist to do it in a different and potentially dangerous way? The fact remains this this scientist fellow is a potential well of information. How Valve would decide to expose this information is debatable.

The returning scientist is a RACE-X alien scientist. They're talking about the test chamber where you test your BARNACLE GUN against RACE-X.

Nah, really I hope it's doctor keller. That guy's a nutcase.
It probably won't be though.

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!

Have you finally played Episode 1 Mecha? Also cakes, it isn't Keller - it's one of them from the test chamber.

Keller was in the area of the test chamber. :p

They don't mean literally inside because gordon, gina and colette were the only persons inside three-leveled test chamber.

Also, it turns out I had underestimated the power of my computrom, so ep1 was totally playable with decent graphics all along.

It's the same chamber, sammy!

My alternative character choice would be Gina, whom even you can't claim is an oh-so-evil gearbox creation.

I like this thread. I'm more excited about EP2 than i was about EP1... Probably because more exciting things shall happen that I've heard about.

Wheelchair bound douche from Decay. I thought he was a good character, pretty obnoxious in a way.

Ah that douche-bag...yea have him back and then kill him off, saves gettin Sheep Hard back and getting Samon all angry :E

But we want Salmon angry, don't we?........

Shit, no! We don't want a hl2.net Samonsploshen!

I don`t think an old man in a wheelchair could have survived a long time in a world invested by aliens and ruled by the Combine. He`s probably dead.

(If you see a stalker in a wheelchair, it`s probably him)

She's dead you know.

I still hope the guy from the test chamber is Slick. I really hate that guy. I wanted to punch him in the face every time I saw him, and frankly I DID. Except replace punch with "crowbar to the face."
