so I started running a few days ago,my dad also got me the "running for dummies" book its well explained but still kinda boring.

So I decided to ask you guys for some tips, any long time runners here?

should I breath thrue the nose or the mouth?
why does my throat start burning while Im running?

I started with 15 minutes today I did another 15 minutes tomarrow I wanna do 25 minutes and so on...

breath through your nose. your throat burns because you're moving so much air throught your throat because im assuming you're breathing through your mouth. but yeah, i dont run.

how do you write a whole book on running?
This is one of the most basic things a human can do
dear lord

I run, i ran track and i ran cross-country, and by all means breath through your mouth when your running. When you’re trying to relax AFTER running, breath in through the mouth and out through the nose(i like to breath in for 4 steps and out for 4 steps). Don't run so much so frequently, you'll get sore and then be sorry. Do every other day, and if you can run on grass/dirt, asphalt is the devil. Jog a bit before you stretch which is before you run, and be sure to run up hills/stairs. Running up works your quads more and then you're less likely to pull one.

If you want to get serious later, try to sing while you run (like the military). "i don't know but i been told..."

I can run further on my arms than my legs. Stinking legs, if i didnt have them i could climb so much faster. Maybe ill E-bay them.

drink more water during the day and that MAY solve your throat problem

It quite possibly is also from dehydration.. During running you sweat, and sweat diffuses the water from the body.. Sort of obvious there.. Anyway, running is a great idea. I am thinking about starting to run over winter or so. I would like to do it outside, but it gets damn cold up here..

I disapprove of treadmills since I hate staying in one stationary place.. Is it bad to run in the cold weather? I am talking around 20-40 F.

Running in colder weather makes your throat burn a heck of a lot more. The best advice I can give, run when girls are watching. You'll magically improve drastically!

It's bad to stand in 20 degrea weather... i can't imagine it being much healthier if you're running o.o

don't overdo it. what you want is a sustained high heartrate, and sustained heavy breathing for at least 30 minutes. but you don't have to kill yourself to improve. i used to run too hard, so i would get good speed and times, but id feel like shit afterwards. you want to feel refreshed afterwards, not like you are going to die. and no matter what, always keep enough energy to sprint away if a ninja ambushes you.

A ninja? You've no right to mention my ninjas.

.................I just cant get over how ugly this ninja is....

thx guys and also is it ok If I walk every 3min? I get k.o pretty quick :(

Push yourself! Don't take a walk every three minutes. How fast do you run?
After you are done running, that is when you should start walking.

Im a fat slob I dont wanna get a heart attack while Im running

so walk every 3min for about a minute but that will improve If I do this for a while right?

Don't walk! If you need to rest, then jog at a walking speed, but make sure you are not walking.

Try to set up a lap system. Don't rest every 3 mins. Instead set how many laps you plan to do around whatever... then decide what point to what other point you're going to walk in how many laops you've ran.

I run around my block and the next block behind mine. Four laps equal roughly about a mile or a mile and a bit more. I run two laps straight, then on the 3rd lap I walk both turns, then run the whole last lap.

If you;ve got weights n shit, lift them.

as long as you keep your heartrate up, and you're still breathing a good amount yea, but id try and always keep the running motion going, so just jog slowly, enough that your body can recover, then you can speed up again more easily.

When you wake up early in the morning and have not yet eaten breakfast, you burn more fat. You should want to jog, don't make it a chore.
It's not fun running when you feel it is boring.

the only reason I wanna loose weight so I can finally....you know I miss it its been a while so thats why I must loose weight again
I started gaining all this weight when I was like 14 :/ life sucks and I blame Mc D's and Taco Bel,l and my non exsisting self discipline

You should also lift weights in combination with the running. And don't eat junk foods and give 110%.

I started running in September. I bust 200 crunches 40 push-ups and lift weights.

Man-o-Man I can see a little bit of results.

Lifting weights helps a lot, it gets you buff!

well....I dont really know If that is what I ment anyway I got some New Ballance running shoes I have my Sony MD the running part aint boring or anything
but lets say I do this every day then after 2 weeks I should be abale to run longer right?

Meh, just go run. Drink lots of water all week and dont skip days. It sucks and it hurts but you have to do it, so just go run.

It's hard to tell, everyone is different but you should see some improvements in two weeks.

I run a lot, it really sucks but I cant stop.

I run 5 times a week, Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday I just chill, I eat whatever on these 2 days. The other days I eat strictly a healthy breakfast and salad and that's it when I come back from school. I get real pissed when I don't run on my running days. I feel like shit, or if I eat something I am not supposed to on my diet days... I then run harder.

I'm weird like that, LoL.

I hate it when people just stare at you when you jog, it makes it look like what you're doing is weird.

They like your runner shorts, SEXY!

Is it normal for one of my ears to "pop" sometimes when I run? The other day both of my ears popped and I had to stop because I was trying to figure out wtf had happened. Does this sh*t happen to anybody else?

It doesn't happen everytime, but sometimes it just does and freaks me out..

Maybe you have ear cancer :(
::hugs bf2slut::

Aw crap.. now i have it too!

I just went for a run this morning... got to 30 mph I think. Punched a hole in a landrover too.

The closest I get to excersize anymore...is...like once every 2 months I do 20 pushups and..20 situps. Then thats it.

Yeah, I'm a skrawny, geeky bastard.

I tend to run 6-8 miles a day on average.

Everyone here knows what i'm like with my running.
