Lots of people are having the same problems even me. I think its my vista and display drivers cause if you go to the vista forums there are thousands of people having the same issue. :(

Yeah, I'm on XP and the game will totaly lag out for a few seconds every now and then, pretty much like it does when I quicksave.

Doesn't seem to be big deal right now though.

But most importantly you should get another gig of ram.

I know you get points for doing that, I'm #1 Stalker atm, but killing soldiers at the Outpost was the only thing I've done between two saves where in the former my rep was "excellent" and in the latter - "terrible". Maybe I'll load the one before attacking the Outpost and see for sure if that's it.

My first thought was that I lost rep after killing manyb Freedoms for the Duty, but that's not it.

You were right, Gunner, it has got nothing to do with the Army Outpost, turns out I didn't do that quest in between those two savegames after all.

I've no idea what caused it now, the only thing I did (that I can think of) in between the two saves, was travelling from the Trader in Cordon to the Barkeep. What would I have to do to bring my reputation from excellent to terrible? o__O What influences reputation anyway? Maybe I'm a victim of a bug? ;| I don't feel like going back a few hours in gameplay now, so I guess I'll probably face a worse ending or something.

how do u get past the army outpost i want to go back to the trader to collect my rewards but the army ppl shoot at me when i go any where near the bridge

Go towards one of the sides, climb the hill to the train track and find a broken fence! :D

Well if it's any comfort, the "best" ending doesn't factor in your reputation :)

Oh and Halem don't go around, just kill them! They have those ak-su models, I don't know what they're called but they're good weapons to start with.

As far as i know you can only go through the bridge cause there are fences all around keeping you from going through. Just do what i had to do many times RUN LIKE HECK you will be fine they have bad aim anyways.

Is it just me or is the plot twist obvious? I figured it out after the second dream sequence.

I just got out of Lab X16 and I head over to the scientist dude but it keeps telling me the door is locked. bug? D:

Woot! Just beat it on Veteran difficulty (unpatched- didn't want to start over again). The false endings are lame, but the real endings are FAR more satisfying (I got both).

Oh, and Adrik, just shoot the shimmery thing that lights the fires.

Your thinking LabX18, im talking bout the one in Yantara :p And it was a bug. I reloaded a save before that, and went back to the camp and the guy opened the door for me.

ok i got to sewers jus after army camp
but there is like 4-5 ppl in the first room

the difficulty is only on stalker and i die every time how on gods earth you meant to take on a gang of ppl in stalker
the accuracy is so bad that you cant pop them off with headshots

also i know the general advice is if u come up against a gang, hide behind something and then take them out but this way always loses lots of health whilst they shoot at me while im shooting at one of their ppl ....yes i have bandages but if every time i came across a gang i had to use like 6-7 bandages just to survive surely my bandages wont last for long

any advice would be welcome as its bloody hard

Medkits? I always have at least 7 on me and rarely drop below it.

Buy from the Barkeep, or the guy at cordon.

Whenever I encounter a gang of people I usually just hide behind something and lean to the left or right depending on which side im on. Most of the time they can't hit me.

Also, is it me or did the zombies in yantar have incredible aim, despite the fact that they were you know..zombies.

There are no time limits to storyline missons, so you can do then when ever you please. I usually do a storyline mission and do a couple side missions and what not.

The GameFaqs "STALKER" page has a fairly good guide. I'm not sure how comprehensive it is, but I know it does contain weapon and armor listings, as well as a walkthrough.
Thanks! Somebody needs to do an official one (the one that should have come with the game) with pictures and whatnot. There are things that the PDA does that I'm still figuring out.

Yeah, they really need to make it more obvious when the PDA adds things to the story.

I'm reading through the PDA diary right now, and there's all this shit that got added from the last time I checked that add so much to the story.

I'm near the end btw.

It's neat, and kinda like HL2. The story is there for you to figure out via PDA entries and missions that you don't HAVE to do, but if you do decide to look into the story, it can be as deep as you decide.

Tool is great music to listen to while plaing STALKER, btw.

Tool isnt great under any circumstances.

(imo)

I think the ambiance is part of what makes STALKER have the creepy and unique feel to it. Especially when you walk by a small camp where someone is playing the guitar and they're singing nuclear-disaster carols.

Qft.

IMO, this is the kind of game where you shut off the music, any sort of external stimuli, and anything detracting, and just absorb the in game environment for what it is.

CS is the kind of game where you kick up the music, because there really isn't much to hear otherwise.

Stalker is just too ambient to have music going to, especially intrusive music like tool. MAYBE some ambient IDM or something, but not Tool.

Which is not to say there aren't times for Tool, of which there are in vast quantity ;)

Stalker is a game meant to be experienced on its own, so any music not from the game detracts from the experience.

TBH if I was in the Zone I would have an earbud in at least one ear, just to keep me sane.

And then you die from a mutant sneaking up on you!

See? Listening to music in STALKER is a bad idea all around.

Now that I'm fairly satisfied with my inventory, I keep a couple scientific paks, a couple army paks, and maybe 7 medkits on me, and pick up bandages as I go from the cadavers.

I just got the dart rounds for the shotgun - total destruction! I love equipping the moonlight artifact and the shotgun and chasing down the mutants. I find the shotguns in this game (only had three so far) to be quite nice by way of the sound and look.

Thanks again for pointing out that the main storyline points aren't time specific. The time stamp and the clock on the icon next to them threw me off.

LIES! Moozaks makes me ready for anything.

And Tool rules, btw.

is their a console command to reset my relationship with other stalkers?

All of a sudden, every stalker in town is trying to kill me.

What town?

The Bar, the Rookie Camp, a random Stalker camp in the Zone, the Scientists and Duty members at Yantar???

And I just finished the Guide quest (haven't finished the doctor one though).

I KNEW IT :D

The diary entries so give it away.

Playing it through again and it shines just like other great titles I've replayed, parts I missed, quests I screwed up, things I know more about. I'm near tempted to give it a AAA rating but I won't.

the one with the barkeep

Did you join freedom?

And have you attacked any duty members outside or inside of the bar?

Doing any of those will piss off Duty, who currently occupy the bar, and will rape your ass if they see you afterwards.

how do i change this? i was hoping for just a command to reset my standing with them

Should've got the Special Edition then :D

Wow, just got jumped by a bunch of the monolith crew going into red forest.

Just whiped out the freedom outpost, and all of a sudden 50 monolith appear. Retreated and sniped them down but gave me a good scare.
