Who here thinks it's okay to have sex before marriage? Please explain your reasons.

Just for me, I made a promise to a good friend of mine that I wouldnt. And I keep my promises.

Yes because God gives us free will (if you believe in him) and it feels good, is fun, and is healthy.

lol youre such a tool

Yes. If you're sensible about it, then there's no harm in having some good natural secks. And so many marriages fail among the abstinent because they're too busy rushing to get to hump-night.

your free will is based on hedonism. If you follow your free will according to a belief system based on hedonistic values, this means that the god that you believe in is yourself.

If you don't believe in sex before marriage you're just ruining your life. But if you like that, cool.

how special is your wife gonna be when you've had better secks with other people?

Hedonism is fine as long as it doesn't take away from other aspects of life, like your work, for example. Sex fits into this special type of hedonism, as long as you're safe. (drinking, drugs, etc. are not good)

You're an odd guy Frenzy. You have a big vocabulary, but you don't know how to use it.

I dont mean that offensively, though it sounds so, just saying.

Get this:
There are people who go through their ENTIRE LIFE without having sex!!

Bet that makes your head explode.

I'm saving sex for my wedding night.

Does it matter? I don't live for sex; in fact it's low on my priority list. I'm just saying, it's fine if you can get it.

Hedonism deters people from veracity, which is the heart of where morality is derived from.

Yeh, it also works for the devil.

I'm not going to get married or have sex so it is irrelevant to me, for those which it is relevant, as we are animals i see no problem with having sex before marriage...it's not going to cause any real problems unless your father in law is a hardcore christian or something.

It is up to a couple to decide what they feel it right, they must take into account that they may produce i child and often relationships can be destroyed or welded solid by sexual activity.

Yeh i completely agree :(

Personally I dont believe in sex ever. But thats just me, tis my plan, never have sex, never get married, and live alone (excitement plus). But my friends tarot cards did say that I'd be married to a beligerent Irish guy, so I dont know. I dont really mind what the rest of you do, tis your lives.

well what if that couple are to stupid to realise the consequences of their actions recoil?

Your ideas of morality are intrinsically flawed. Morality comes into play when you consider hurting others for your own gain (murder, stealing, slander, etc.). This is wrong. Everything else is right.

Didn't you slander someone earlier when you called them a "tool"?

How are virgin marriages exempt from this?

Assuming you are serious:

You are basically denying your body. We have an entire system in our body meant for reproduction and mating; you should make use of it. Should you go through life blind because you find it morally right? Will you base your entire life on a few paragraphs in a book?

Then they fail at life if they are unhappy.

Assuming that empathy and the general concern for the well being of others is not a desire, desire is the factor from which all harm to others stem from. Hedonism, a value system inwhich the gratification of desires and the avoidance of pain are the highest of values encourages this factor.

No, that was true and in jest. It was relevant to conversation and will hopefully enlighten that person to change for the better, if only they can realize their logical flaw.

Well, there are hetero-, homo-, bi- and asexuals. There are some people who just have no sex drive, and I see no problem with that.

I also find it kinda funny that two very similiar discussions are going on in two threads, in which the same people are a part of.

This is false. Consentual sex brings pleasure and happiness to both, if both wish it to.

Sexual desire does not cause harm, unless your morals are poor.

Well, i don't think its okay for me. but for everyone else it doesn't really offend me. whatever floats your boat. i consider the act of abstaining future respect for my future wife. because i know that once i meet her, ill want to give her the world, and so ill have that as a gift.

Frenzy's argument seems to rest on the premise that gratification causes harm.

If such were the case, we would have been ****ed long ago, people.

That is purely based upon your personal opinion about their beliefs.
If your opinion is right, then the above statement is true. If your opinion is wrong, then you slandered him.
Since opinions can be neither right or wrong, I just wasted a post.
Oh well.

For example, two people shoot eachother with paintball guns because it is fun for both. But a person can also use a paintball gun as a weapon, and use it maliciously against someone or their house.

Only the second is morally wrong.

Who/what dictates that morality?

Well, I posted my idea of what "dictates" morality in the other topic.

BTW how the Hell did we get so off-topic? Just say yay or nay to keeping your penis in your pants and be on with it!
