Cigarette smokers

Rant

I am a smoker. I know it is bad, I know it kills, causes lung cancer, heart disease and early death.

I went for a quite meal tonight, with my wife. We sat in the smoking section. After my meal I lite a cigarette.

Some bloke on the opposite table said” Put that out before I put you out “

After a few words we decided to leave.

I should quit, I know, but for Christ sake, will you non smokers stop treating us smokers like we are social lepers.

Cheers people, rant over.

I'd support the other guy if you weren't in the smoking section, but as it is he's just a fool.

yeah, I don't like smoker's by any means, but if you were in the smoking section, then you have every right.

btw, NM has a law that you can't smoke in public places, I think it's good.

Smoking should be banned everywhere, i cant stand it.

You may want to kill yourself, but we don't want to, so we DONT SMOKE, but if you make us have to breathe it in you havent taken that option away from us and killing us. Passive smoking is just as bad, so that guy has a point. Smoke outside, or in places which allows smoking, which are getting less and less each day thankfully.

I don't understand you smokers, theres no benefits at all...

He was in the smoking section, though. I can understand this wholeheartedly in a non smoking allowed establishment, but that's at the discression of the owner in a private establishment.

However in government places and other things not private like parks and such it should be banned, I agree.

Smoking/non-smoking sections are completely pointless anyway. The smoke from the smoking section will make it's way over to the non-smoking section. But where I live it's illegal to smoke in any public building so it's not really an issue to me. I quit smoking about a month and a half ago, best decision I ever made. :D

And yes, that other guy WAS rude. I would get comments like that sometimes too when I still smoked. One time I was just standing at the bus stop waiting for the bus, minding my own business having a smoke, and some woman decides to start lecturing me on why smoking is horrible. Really pissed me off at how rude she was... especially since this was OUTDOORS, the only place you can smoke here (besides private buildings). Ah well.. :p

smoking is disgusting, it's funny how back in the day people smoked to be "in" now anyone who smokes is out haha

not saying smoking is good,
but we all die anyways so It dosen't matter!!
:)

I don't smoke and i don't see anything gross about it :-/
I like the smell.

Thats cos you smell.

And to the other person that said we all die eventually, well yeah true, but at the age of 40/50 from lung cancer, or would you prefer to live to 70/80 and be healthy. Well i know what id rather do, i'd be rolling those bowls and playing bingo while you losers are chatting with the earth worms, good day :imu: :D :imu: :D :imu:

But then everyone who's "out" is "in" within their own "out" crowd :p

What I don't understand is why people feel the need to start smoking. A smoker's need to continue I can understand, as cigarettes are extremely addictive. But I can't for the life of me think of one good reason for me to start smoking.

Well uh, I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker, I play my music in the sun.

We all die, but I don't know anyone who would want to go out like that. Shortens your life too. What the heck.

I hate smokers, no offense, I don't see the reason for it. My school used to tell us how bad it was to smoke, and showed us pictures of all the things it does to you. Looking at those lungs with cancer was like looking at... Swiss cheese... painted red.

That's exactly what I've been asking myself for a long time. My friend just quitted smoking two weeks ago (well quitting is a big word) and each time he sees someone smoking a cigarette, he feels the need to do the same. For me, each time I see someone smoking, I just want to start vomiting around, I can't stand the smell, the taste and what it does to you. I can't understand how a disgusting-stick-of-tobacco-plus-a-zillions-chemical-products-in-it can make you want to smoke it. Yeah, it's the nicotine, but come on, I'm sure it's more psychologic than physcial.

(Weed is another thing)

"Put that out before I put you out"?

Hopefully you laughed in his face for such a cheesy line. If you were in the smoking section, screw him. You should have been all like "Piss off before I piss...you...off...um...........go away!"

I think most people probably start smoking because their friend/friends do it. That wasn't the case for me though, I started because of stress/depression. Started when I was 19, quit at 21. Figured it was better to quit now than wait 10 years. :p

But I'm wondering how did the cigarettes first attract you in your depression mode? Because being someone that has never smoked cigarette in his life, if I was depressed or something, I would never want to smoke that. Did you think it was relieving?

I can't wait till they legalize marijuana so i can smoke daily :(
Lucky bastard tobacco smokers
Be happy you can smoke at all

Well, see, they can smoke because what YOU smoke does most things that regular smoking does to you and makes your brain all funny WHOA MY HANDS ARE HUGE.

Probably won't be legalising marijuana in the UK anytime soon- what with all this recent research into the correllation between its use and mental problems.

I can just about justify alcohol, despite all its related deaths, because in moderation it can do very little harm.

But you can't say the same for tobacco. My sister smokes, but she's an idiot with no social conscience or even basic biological awareness. Says it all, really.

What research? I've never heard anything bad about marijuana.
Its good for you!

(And just cuz something is bad for you doesnt mean it should be illegal, otherwise fast food would be gone)

But again, fast food, IN MODERATION, is not bad for you.

Neither is pot.. (At least not from any of the studies i've read)

I'd seriously like to see some study that says pot in moderation is bad for you :-/

The studies i've read show theres no permanent negative side effects except for those that go along with smoking.

And you dont have to smoke pot to use it

Whatever, man. You were too high to understand any of those things.

And that's proof alone that you've been using it a bit too extensively :p

Can't find (or more accurately, be bothered to locate) the latest stuff the scientists are scribbling down, including everything from personality disorders to memory loss. 'Tis a worrying... stuff. Thing. Whatever.

Development, that's the word. Brain. Is poking me. Help.

Smoking weed in moderation won't harm you. "All things are good to take if there is no abuse". That's what I'm saying.

I figured they would help alleviate my stress, and they did, sort of, for a while. But soon after I started smoking I went on anti-depressants which helped me a lot, but I was already hooked on the cigarettes.

people jus get used too putting thier hand to thier mouth when they smoke.

when giving up, they replace the cigarette with 'food'

I doubt smoking anything does your lungs any good

UCLA School of Medicine study "Neither the continuing nor the intermittent marijuana smokers exhibited any significantly different rates of decline in lung function as compared with those individuals who never smoked marijuana."

It only becomes a factor when you smoke excessively

(much like fat foods only become a problem when you eat them too much)

Yes smoke of any kind is bad for you and about cigarette smokers my town is now set to go completely smoke free, even though they dont have any place left to smoke I can think of. I for one second the ban on smoking it is harmful to your health and hard on your wallet so I see no point to it especially since smokers can harm my own health if they smoke near me.

I do like how people think they can make smoking just go away because its not in vogue anymore. Hundreds of years of habit doesn't die that easily. :D

You should have beaten the shit outta that mofo
I dont smoke,I also dont mind smokers

Did these "individuals who never smoked marijuana" smoke cigarettes, either at the time of the study or beforehand?

Banning smoking is retarded. People have the right to hurt themselves all they wish (Assuming they're even hurting themselves.)

And has anyone EVER actually died from public second hand smoke?
I guarantee you that you won't find a single case of it....

I can almost guarantee you they didn't...
I'm pretty sure the people conducting the study would take that into consideration.. otherwise it would be a complete waste of funds

...

...

I suggest you do a search on "Roy Castle", and his suspected cause of death.

Not that I know of, but I don't want to find out.

Roy Castle (a trumpet player/tv presenter, who has now died) claimed that he developed lung cancer from year of playing in clubs and pubs - each having very smoky atmospheres. He himself never touched a cigarette in his life.
