So what have you been reading lately?

Yay, someone else has read On The Road. :D

The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad. It's actually great, and strangely modern (multiple perspectives, shifts back in forth in time).

I'm gasping for air. What an experience. It was an absolutely fantastic novel, certainly one of the top five I've ever read.

Arthur Hailey's Detective. It owned me. When I have time, I will definitely be reading more of his books.

Before that, Ursula K. LeGuin's The Telling. It was okay.

Before that, Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Best book evr.

Read Howl? :E

A Wrinkle in Time
Magical time/space traveling kids ftw!!!1

Wow, the resurection of my old thread.

Chasm City, by Alastair Reynolds.

Indeed.

I rarely read just for fun but the few books I have gotten into are by Carl Hiaasen namely "Hoot" and "Sick Puppy." Great, great novels.

I've been finishing off the Riftwar Saga by Raymond E. Feist. 'Honoured Enemy' in particular is one of my favourites out of the whole series.

I've been reading the last set Magic the Gathering novels. It's the japanese themed set. Champions/Betrayers/Saviors of kamigawa. It's pretty good. I've been getting back into Magic lately, which is why I'm reading the books.

The current set is Ravnica/Guildpact/Dissension. I've only read Ravnica, and it was really good too.

I've been reading "The Last True Story I'll Ever Tell." It's a Florida national guardsman's account of his time in Iraq.

Started reading The Baroque Cycle: Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson again.

Probably pick up The Fountainhead by Rand sometime soon.

Right now I'm reading Douglas Adam's Life, The universe, and everything (of the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy 5 book trilogy). then I shall proceed onto So long and thanks for all the fish and then Mostly harmless.

I've read this one book, it's not really a kids book, but not really an adult book, it's a teen book, there's killing, but the longest of the three books is about 200 pages...

They're called "Island", they're really good, the best books I've ever read!

There are more in the Trilogy, well.. not the same trilogy there are 3 different trilogies, but they are the same kind of.... they are called "Everest" and "Dive"

So, there are 9 books in total, 3 in "Island", 3 in "Everest", and 3 in "Dive"

In best to worst, it is:

Island - This acually reminds me of "Lost" because they find a building on the Island, it used to be a airforce base in WWII, this place made "Fat Man" and "Little Boy", you should really read it!

Dive - They find Treasure sunken REALLY deep, and a bunch of stuff happens, it's a good read

Everest - They climb the island, and the main character turns out to be the youngest ever to climb Everest.

I acually learned ALOT from these books, too.. I know that they mix Helium, Oxygen, and Nitrogen in air tanks when divers dive really deep, I learned why you need Oxygen on high mountains, and I learned sea-water kills you if you drink it.

P.S. I do NOT read often, the longest book I've read besides these is "Where's Waldo?" I only read these because I was forced, but meh.. they are good books...

Wow, the books must be old, the copies I had from the Public Library looked new, and believe me, in my city there are some wierd people who take out books (Hobos and people like that..) you'd figure that they'd rip and fold the books.....

I read them in grade 7 (end of grade 9 now)

Commisioned Officer's Guide to Tactics and Stradegies -Army Uni. (There was an old copy at my house so started reading out of boredom but it was extremely interesting, and gives you a lot of new knowledege)

A Report on Guidance Assisted Tactical Nuclear Weapons (LOL)

Lord of the Flies - William Golding (What. The. ****?)

One more to the list....... ;(

Why do I creep people out? Is it wrong to be extremely confused by Lord of the Flies?

EDIT: Awww, the first page on this thread has Sulkdodds saying: "1984 is a criticism of you and everything you stand for!"

I started to read the Da Vinci Code, until I realized that it is complete and utter shite. So now i'm reading The Dark Knight Returns instead.

I read Quicksilver ages ago but never did get around to checking out the others. Recently I've been wanting to reread QS since I can't remember the story at all. I should really give them a read since I like Stephenson...

Oh yes, the Sandman by Neil Gaiman.

The V for Vendetta "graphic novels"... whatever, they're still comic books to me.

Alan Moore doesn't mind if you call them comics ;).

Which reminds me that I need to pick up the 2nd series of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Just finished them. I enjoyed them about equally to the movie. Still don't really understand that torturing bit.

Beloved by Toni Morrison, Franz Liszt Weimar Years by Alan Walker, Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner.

Omg!! Neal Stephenson rox my cox!!! Cryptonomicon forever changed the way I look at Cap'n'Crunch, and it was an extremely good book. Also, Snow Crash is one of my favorite books of all time.

Nightwatch by Terry Pratchett.

Love the Watch. Vimes wins.

Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space

Very entertaining. It also had quality A illustrations.

Nothing, unless books inside Oblivion count which they don't.
I wonder how many pages all of the books in Oblivion would be.

Fantastic. Everyone should read those.

I might also want to emphasise the Neil Gaiman bit in my last post by stating I am reading Good Omens, by both him and Terry Pratchett. Who rocks. Discworld, woo!
