Starcraft 2 confirmed!

But.. Diablo 3.. Why, Blizzard ? :(

My brother will be incredibly excited though.

I really don't like the look of it tbh... the cinematic cutscene had me drooling, but the game itself is so cartoony :(

Yeah...

I loved cinematic, though. And the Korean words in that.... People were cheering so hard that I had to laugh till I began cheering as well. Then I realized that I was in the library, and quickly shut up.

And to think that I was about to burn down some buildings.

Holy ****, what a thing to wake up to.

I just came. :D My nerdiness is taking over!

That's not Starcraft 2. That's a mod that may or may not have been shut down some time ago.

Yaeh somehow it doesnt look right i must admit, then again Blizzard are reknown for using cartoony looking graphics. All the Warcraft series for example, and hell even SC1 looked cartoony.

ANYWAY THOUGH! THE greatest strategy game ever is going to return??? I....I just....I....*watches video again against the screen*

It looks like they dropped the fourth race idea though. :(

It looks to cartoony, the marines dont look as bad ass as in Dawn of war.

...Well this isn't Dawn of War.

And Blizzard's pretty much trademarked with making "cartoony-looking-yet-still-pretty-mature-in-subject-matter-games".

At the end of the day though, games dont NEED great graphics to be simply epic. Look at the original SC for example.

Galactic Civilizations 2 - hardly any graphics - awesome game.
Super Mario series

and the list goes on.

I still think SC2 looks cool, but thats not what im going to be worried about when we finally get our hands on it.

Well, I don't know about that. I must admit that I was looking forward to a new race, but I don't want to make that some kind of rule where sequels need to have X more races, as that would get ridiculous.

The Korean press release mentioned a new race and they got everything else right. It's possible that they're waiting to unveil the new race at a future point in time.

I'm thoroughly pumped just from seeing the website be alive. :D

I know Blizzard won't disappoint, they've yet to produce a single bad or even sub-par game.

Yeah, it's just that I thought they'd mention something like "We have a new race that we'll be unveiling soon." or along the lines of that.

Oh well, atleast we have the original three... even if that's all we get I'm still pleased with what I'm seeing so far.

I hope they dont ruin it like they did with WC3. Creeps, heroes that level up and units that can take 25 arrows to the chest and still breathe ruined that game for me.

What's wrong with creeps?

The idea of leveling up in SC seems out of place, and I doubt they'll implement it. But we'll see.

When playing a game with walking undead, goblins orcs and shaman trolls, you get miffed that a hero can take 20 arrows to the chest before dying?

By that logic you just denounced every FPS and RTS in history. Not to mention the majority of action films ever made.

Well a fourth race would only make sense due to the god damn storyline in brood war.

This is true. I always suspected an eventual introduction of the Xel'naga in the flesh. Samir Duran was probably one in disguise or in another form, or perhaps an agent employed by them.

I have never ever seen an action film where the hero can take 20 arrows and not die without armor or some other protection. FPS games are different matter, but in most of them you cant take that much damage without healing inbetween the attacks.

I was not even talking about heroes, I was talking abour regular troops. Its not just that I find the idea bad, I think it harms gameplay. It reduces the efficency of good tactics, all you get when you manage to make the best use of archers you can is a bar that is a little smaller when the enemy gets to you. Take a look at the total war serie for an example of realtime battles done right.

Also, I find creeps annoying and is an unnecacery element. Dont try to make my RTS into a bad CRPG thank you.

Looks too much like Warcraft III IMO.
When Starcraft was originally show off it was criticized for looking too much like Warcraft ("Orcs in Space") and they changed it.

The battlecruisers look kinda off, but otherwise I disagree.

I think any similarities have more to do with WoW looking increasingly like Starcraft due to its increased use of sci-fi elements, like the Exodar crashing and the entire Tempest Keep gauntlet of dungeons. When you consider it, the Draenei do have a Protoss-ish feel to them.

And the Zerg just look totally badass now. Their sudden emergence may be enough to make me shit my pants.

Guys, this will UNDOUBTEDLY be the same idea as Doom 3 was:

We're all going to expect everything to be new - BUT WHY CHANGE IT? Doom 3 wasnt a new game. It was everything that was great in the previous games, just made better with a new engine.

Thats all (i hope) SC2 will be. New maps, new animations, new effects, better engine etc etc etc.

IF THEY DONT REALLY CHANGE ANYTHING, ITS STILL GOING TO BE AWESOME.

Did you ever play Doom 1/2/Final? It was quite different. Doom 1/2 were mindless-ton-of-guys shooting. Doom 3 was s scary shooter where the combat was completely different in terms of your opponenets.

The bad thing about the graphics I think is sometimes they have a little metalic/cartoonish type look. Especially the grass terrain in some pics(like the one operational showed).

Thought I saw something near the beginning of the cinematic trailer. I went frame by frame, and sure enough, I found these two images.

My guess is they're shots of the Blizz team working on SC2, celebrating the announcement of the game.

EDIT: Enhanced the pics a bit to make them more clear.

I get this mental image of all of korea jerking off at once.

Someone hold me! :( (not numbers)

lol @ Koreans 'oooh'-ing and 'aaaah'-ing duing the gameplay demonstration. That was even more hilarious than the stupid yanks screaming and yelling during the Halo 2 demonstration at E3 2003.

I woke up because my friend sent me a text that said nothing but "Sc2".

Here's the big part.

HOLY ****ING GOD THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF THE DECADE

I've been waiting for this day since 1998. I love you Blizzard. I always had faith.

In related news, there are unconfirmed reports that 5,000,000+ South Koreans simultaneously ejaculated.
