Just so it doesn't get lost since my post was on the end of page 5. Here's 21 minutes of SC2 gameplay demonstration. Check out gameplay for yourself :)

zomg I missed that, see you in 21 minutes
my only complaint is that it dont have the futuristic 90's style and looks to similiar to warcraft3

and I really hope it to be so balanced and cool as the first one, blizzard have his whole reputation at stake here

and lol "hell its about time"

EDIT:after see the screenshots more detained I see they are really focused on keeping the style which is a very good thing!
I completely agree, 90's style futuristic sci-fi (that kind of retro sex, it started in the 80s actually with Alien/Giger) is pure sex.

looks like this anouncement have surpassed every other in this year and the previous

Not impressed with the visuals :|

This is going to be a great game, no question. But I can't help but feel a little disappointed.

So far, I've seen a Starcraft expansion pack running on the Warcraft III engine. Any gamer's wet dream, obviously - but I expected to be blown away when Starcraft II was finally announced.

It's not the quality of the graphics that gets me - I still think WC3 is a great looking game, and it's important that it runs on everyone's computer. It's just that it looks just like WC3.

I have faith in Blizzard, though - they're not gonna let this one out of the gate with it being less than stellar.

He's project lead.

I gotta say, that was the one thing that got me kind of nervous. Sure, he's competent. Certainly not bad. But I don't know if I can trust him with something this... big.

I'd say have faith with a tinge of nervousness as well, RA2 was totally wrong compared to the original RA, and Generals took a big fat bump on C&C.

Hopefully though he will keep the true SC spirit alive

Sorry, I forgot something in my first post.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG STARCRAFT 2! YAY! :bounce:

(doesn't that sound like cookie monster?)

I think they call him Veggie Monster now D:

why everyone likes this game ? could someone tell me whats good about it.

note: I never played strategy game before.

Words fail to describe it. But know that it has an engrossing, intelligent plot, three unique and fun races to play, vibrant visuals, bitchin' multiplayer, and awesome, jaw-dropping cutscenes.

Gorgon: Starcraft is a fantastic game by every quantitative and qualitative method of analysis. For me, though, a lot of the love comes from the fact that the Starcraft universe/setting is ****ing awesome.

Frak man after seeing this I'm so exited. I can't comprehend that some people can say thus game does not look good. SC2 has taken it's place among Mass Effect, Portal, TF2, and Bioshock on my list of awesome games I want to buy, but will end up downloading because of lack of money.

And the fact it's the most balanced game I've ever played. Most games have slightly different weapons/etc, but nothing pales into comparison with Starcraft's balance.

That's the most impressive thing, I Think.

I was looking at the artwork trailer, at at the end, I'm sure there was artwork of Jim Raynor

Indeed. It takes a lot of time and effort to tweak everything to a near perfect equilibrium.

I might be spoiled a bit though, playing warcraft 2 before starcraft and all. The units are just mirrored on the sides, and they have different models, that's it....thank god for Starcraft!

Just fully watched that trailer, and I think you're right.

Saw a bad-ass picture of Kerrigan at the end too.

I'm already such a ridiculously polarized fanboy for this game... it's kind of depressing.

I only started playing Starcraft about 4 years ago, but I've been a fan ever since.

The lore for the game is just so fascinating.

The brief glimpse of Kerrigan in motion was sweet.

Also, I have no problem admitting that I would **** her.

Dammed straight. Whenever I imagine us genetically enhancing human soldiers in the future the image of kerrigan spring to mind. Simply because she is a mix of coolness, terror, and a strange kind of beauty and and animal attraction. She's like a creature to fear, **** and admire.

After watching the gameplay videos most of my fears where dispeled. I noticed some (apperent) hand-waving regarding the protoss technology wich annoys me but is not a gamebreaker unless applied in great amounts.

This is going to be the first game I buy and hopefully have fun in this genre

loads and loads of hype and positive feedback = Great game :)

This is very exciting news, of course. But, I was a tad dissappointed when I heard that they haven't started on the SP campaign yet (apparently it's on the backburner for multiplayer), according to that ign article. Also, I think it's confirmed that SC2 will support DX10 in the future, which is a good thing, obviously.

I've never played the original StarCraft, but will probably pick this up when it hits the shelves.

The news regarding the focus on MP is worrisome to me also, I am one of the folks that enjoyed SP more than anything in Starcraft. One of the few RTS that had well fleshed out, fun to control characters.

watching that video, why the hell do terran marines have shields? Did they have shields in the original?
Looking closer, are those sheilds made out of wood!?!?!

orcs in space, anyone?

What shields?

All I see is their huge body armor.

edit : Oh, at 1:04 they do seem to be holding huge shields with big red stars on them... strange, place-holder models maybe.

For those of you complaining about graphics or art style (god knows why - it looks kickass on both fronts to me):

Take a look at SC1's Alpha

Now obviously they're not gonna completely change EVERYTHING we've seen but there is still quite a ways to go.
